Why doesn't Ubisoft port ZombiU to other platforms?

I still don't get why this game was ever exclusive to WiiU in the first place. The gameplay would work perfectly fine on the other consoles and PC. The game sold like absolutely crap as well, both due to low install base as well as the fact that it was exclusive; they could garner so many more sales by making it multiplatform.

Just remove the U at the end, rename it ZombiPS4 or ZomboX or some shit, bump up the graphics, and bobs your uncle, easy money.

It would be totally different to the point that it wouldn't be the same game. Part of the tension is diving attention between game screen and game pad. If you take that away, you take away part of what makes it what it is.
 
Is there even any demand for it? I think it's a bit like why they never ported Red Steel 2 to the PS3 even though at one point hey said it was a possibility. There just wasn't enough demand for it and it would've been a waste of time and resources.

So like other games, you don't pause when you pull up your inventory. This isn't magic.

Basiaclly this. If anything they'd just make a new Zombi game for PS4/XOne

The game had a pretty impressive atmosphere from what I've seen on Youtube, as a survival horror lover sad with the state of Resident Evil I'd kill to play it on PS4 even without the Gamepad.

Maybe they could find a new inventory system to keep the tension in.

Yes, because launch consoles never get exclusives...

It's not multi because it works with the pad, deal with it.

Nope. You're meant to juggle inventory using the touch screen. It's meant to keep you distracted from the main screen while zombies creep up on you. Putting all of this on the one screen removes a lot of the tension.

Yeah, but it just wouldn't be the same without looking down at the second screen while simultaneously having to look back up at the big screen to check your surroundings. If it used the Vita on PS4, it could work though.
 
It was the best game I played last year and, to me, that had very little to do with the gamepad. I think others are right in that there's no demand, but I think that's just because people don't know what they're missing.

The real tragedy of the Wii U is that a damned GEM like Zombi U had to go down with the ship. That's a crime.

Without the gamepad aspect of having to look down while changing inventory/etc, that would kinda remove a good bit of that horror intense atmosphere by removing that aspect.

I mean, I guess they could make Vita required or something..

So you blur out the main screen while you have inventory up. Wow. Problem solved.
 
Who said it's not on the card? Let's not forget that it took a while before RE Revelations made its way to PS360 after it was on 3DS. This thing takes time. Especially if they decide to up-port it to PS4/Xbone.
 
The gamepad is core to the gameplay elements, secondary screen inventory, radar functions, a sort of 'looking glass' puzzle element when trying to find codes/secrets.

Anyway, the game is not a typical shootbanger but a very true survival horror game.

They could always make an on-the-go inventory that doesn't stop time. Or find a new solution. It's doable!
 
You know, I wouldn't be too shocked if you saw a digital-only "Definitive edition" come to digital markets for like $40 in a few years. I wouldn't be shocked at all.
 
The multiplayer which is a super underrated portion of the game in my opinion literally would not work unless you added in smartglass support or something. For single player you could just have the inventory come up on screen without pausing the game but it wouldn't really be the same.

Certainly not impossible, that's for sure. Probably not much of a demand for it sadly, esp since it's not really a traditional FPS with a big focus on the horror/keeping yourself alive by not using resources.

It would be close enough and a very similar thing. This isn't rocket science.

It's already been done in other games.
 
People are way overplaying the importance of the gamepad.
Odd zombie coming to attack while looking in inventory is not something that couldn't be easily retooled.
 
I don't even think the graphics need a bump. Just release it on XBLA/PSN for $10-15.

It's crazy how they let such potential die.

All the stuff about looking at your gamepad while stuff is going down is what makes the tension? lol so much bullshit.
All you need is a transparent menu that pops up over the main game so you can check inventory, keep an eye on what's going on and the game keeps running.
I think a small game called Dark Souls did that, but you know...there was no tension in that game and it wasn't very popular either.

Not really. Because I'm presuming you would still be able to see blurry zombies. Making it too blurry ruins the system completely. You also are dropping and dragging inventory items using the touch screen. Using a normal menu screen with directional buttons makes it feel a bit less human.

It's meant to give the feeling of you digging through your bag.

There's also about 6 hot keys on the Gamepad during normal play which you can access some items instantly. Putting certain items in certain positions is also important and you can easily fumble when the pressure is on since these items aren't a simple button press away.

Trust me, you'd be getting less of an experience with ZombiU without the Gamepad or some sort of touchscreen. It's a large part of the tension in the game.
 
Obviously, it would have to be something other than ZombiU if it found its way to other platforms. I suppose a rebranding and some minor work with improving visual fidelity and reworking the inventory to some standard non-pausing system could work well enough to pushing it to next-gen systems, but I suppose the question at this point is whether Ubisoft really wants to throw more money at this game for a slight chance of making back some more money or just let things go where they are. That there's been zero word on any recent work on the IP tells me it's the latter.
 
It could be done. I really enjoyed the game and think more people should have a chance to play it. I can't even remember what the gamepad brought to the table besides a cumbersome UI.

Ps vita bundle, make the vita the only control option.
 
It's not port begging. We're just wondering why Ubi wouldn't shoot for the dollars they left on the table.

And we're finding that it's really not game pad dependent. It would be a shame to leave what some call a real survival horror on a dead system.

I'm not saying it can't be done. I've played other games that do a similar thing. I personally would love to see others play the game as I'm a big fan of it. I just think the physical interaction with the gamepad adds a little something and the multiplayer would have to be taken out. That's just me though.
