"Although Manning was head and shoulders above the MVP field this season, he failed to join Tom Brady (2010) as the only winner to be voted unanimously. One wrong-headed member of The Associated Press opted to make the process about himself rather than selecting the most deserving candidate."

Most Valuable Player voting
Player Position No. of votes
Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos QB 49
Tom Brady, New England Patriots QB 1

Just fuck! Brady hasn't won any individual awards since 2010.

unanimous bullshit means nill. the same thing happened his 2004 which i consider more impressive than this yr (not statistically of course).

Brady is not aging as well as Peyon. Brady also has taken about 100 more sacks than Peyon in his career. Dude is hitting a stepp decline in his skills.

MVP well deserved. Get it done!!

It'd be funny if the Pack signs Merriweather.

Doubt it happens because Ted has an aversion to good football players but it'd still be lulzy.

It's dawning on me guys. This is the last night I'll get to go to bed before a football game while living in the country for the foreseeable future. It's been fun America!

My brother has a bottle of that and he is opening it tomorrow. I've been trying to find it everywhere because he swears by it but I haven't had much luck in the Portland area. Ironically enough, he's a huge Seahawk fan. Will be interesting drinking Colorado whiskey while cheering for the Washington team.

A few years back you used to be able to find it everywhere, BevMo included. However when the distillery was sold to a large distributor (Proximo Spirits) in late 2010, there followed some key personnel changes/leavings, and they stopped selling the whiskey outside of Colorado. :(

Aside from kind friends of mine that will pick up a bottle for me when passing through Denver Int'l, I typically will order a couple of bottles once a year from Total Beverage [link] as they sell Stranahan's and the s/h isn't too outrageous (but you will pay a premium for getting booze shipped to you). On balance you'll end up paying $10 less for a bottle from there than most online retailers, but if you can find it under $40 anywhere, grab it. I'm hoping some of the retailers will do a sale of Denver/CO based brands if the Broncos win ;)

Congrats dude. Sounds like you will have an awesome experience. Do not let them curropt you into liking boring soccer!

Still feels weird to know that Denver is in the Super Bowl...let's get this game over with, the media in Denver is becoming near insufferable.

Awesome, thank you for the info!

Washington Senate unanimously votes to rename Mt. Rainier to Mt. Seattle Seahawks
until Monday.

Calls out Broncos fans for not showing up en masse to send their team off to the SB.

Full resolution here.

SENATE RESOLUTION
8676
By Senators Hargrove, Dammeier, Conway, McAuliffe, Ranker, and Hobbs
WHEREAS, The Washington State Senate is VERY confident the Seattle Seahawks will
defeat the Denver Broncos on Sunday; and
WHEREAS, With all due respect to the fine people of the State of Colorado, the 12th Man
numbered 30,000 strong just to see their team off to the Super Bowl, while Colorado managed 300
or so to see their Broncos off; and
WHEREAS, The Seattle Seahawks gave their fans much to be proud of, indeed, inspiring them
to not just set the world record for stadium noise once, but TWICE in one season; and
WHEREAS, The 12th Man has been known to trigger seismic events (that would be
earthquakes for you middle of the country folk), for real; and
WHEREAS, Colorado makes some fine craft beverages, but really? Do you want to start that
fight with the state that invented the genre? Between fine coffee, brewers, and wineries, Seattle is
the beverage capital of the United States, if not the world; and
WHEREAS, We wholeheartedly agree and hope that your admittedly incredible quarterback
does resemble Mount Elbert: A little rocky and immobile; and
WHEREAS, Your 14ers are really nice, but c'mon, have you seen Mount Rainier? Cloaked in
glaciers and rising nearly 2.5 miles above its surroundings, it is more singular, more monumental,
and more intimidating than any of Colorado's 14ers, much like the Seahawks over the Broncos; and
WHEREAS, The Great State of Colorado has named 53 individual 14ers after 53 individual
players, because the Broncos are a band of individuals, however the State of Washington resolves
to name one magnificent mountain after the Seahawks because they are and act as a TEAM;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State Senate does hereby
rename Mount Rainier as "Mount Seattle Seahawks" from this point until 12:00 a.m. Monday,
February 3, 2014; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Washington State Legislature respectfully request
of the United States Department of the Interior that Mount Rainier's namesake National Park (yeah,
our Mountain is that cool, it warrants its own National Park) be retitled "12th Man National Park"
for the same time period; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That Sunday, February 2nd be proclaimed SEAHAWK
SUNDAY in the great State of Washington.
I, Hunter G. Goodman, Secretary of the Senate,
do hereby certify that this is a true and
correct copy of Senate Resolution 8676,
adopted by the Senate
January 31, 2014
HUNTER G. GOODMAN
Secretary of the Senate

The Broncos have sold out the stadium (every game) for 44 consecutive years. Keep trying though.

I think they mean the send off, like at the airport or something. Apparently, 30K Seahawks fans showed up for their team, whereas only 300 or so Broncos fans did.

I don't remember even hearing about a "formal" send off, and I was in Denver that day. Pretty irrelevant, but that's what we've got.

Yeah, I get it. The point is that it implies that our fanbase isn't as dedicated as their fanbase. Good for them though, nice send off.

Well half your fans this year are Peyton bandwagon fans...

Half is also a bit of an overestimation and so what? I welcome them as brothers, the bandwagon is going to grow the more you win. It's the way of the world, nothing I can do about it, so why sweat it? It's like you and jak expect me to tell those guys that they can't root for who they want to root for. That's not what I'm about, but by all means don't let me stop you from hating.

Thanks man. Don't get me wrong, I like Seattle in general, and the Seattle guys around here are good folks as far as I'm concerned. I just took exception to that statement, probably shouldn't have as that is impressive for a send off. I did put down the sword of worrying about people's bandwagons because I guess I don't care really, and if you want to root for the Broncos with me even if you are here for the QB, who am I to say otherwise?

I even told gata that I wasn't going to give him flak over Jacksonville, that's how serious I was :)

I'm off for the night though. Have a good one gaf, see you on Superbowl Sunday!

Those people aside, Denver has always had a very large fanbase. Awful championship record aside, Denver has been one of the more successful franchises in the league.

That Super Bowl record though, ouch.

Denver 44 years of sell outs. Has the least amount of losing seasons of all NFL teams since 1984.

Tigger has no balls.

@Tragic gO BACK TO KC.

I remember when the cart was full of Tebow fans... Real Denver fans remember the Orton days.

I still remember when Jake Plummer played decent enough to trick me into thinking there was a chance we could win it all that year. Now all I like to remember about that year is giving Brady his first ever playoff loss.
