Game Informer March: Metal Gear Solid V (Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain)

Holy Christ if you guys aren't overselling how good that cover actually is.
Sure, it's nice, like most of GI covers are, in fact, but it's not the greatest thing since men started to walk on two legs.

Gorgeous art.

Nobody should be surprised that the game is less than four hours though, that has been obvious for some time. The ardent deniers need to eat their crow now

4 hours for the story?

Damn. Alright, so long as the rest of the experiences tallies more than two extra hours, I'll be alright.

The Good:
+ Shinkawa's art is Godlike. A truly mesmerizing piece.

The Bad:
- Konami's cashgrab move to not include said art on the cover.
- The campaign is under 4 hours? A prologue it is indeed. $10 bucks an hour for a MGS game is not something I'm interested in.

Read the press release from GI, they say they had 4 hours and played THROUGH the story and tried out side ops

Maybe it was badly worded. I mean, they could have been limited to 4 hours of play and used all their time to play of what they could of the main story. We don't really know yet.

I hope GI tried to ask if Konami has anything new to share about the prospect of a PC version for V.

Yes.

I don't really see a problem with that.

I prefer games that are lean with no filler. I'm sure it will get dinged on reviews and value propositions.

Main mission is less that 4 hours long. "But no, Alienous, you can't possibly say that. Nobody knows". Nope. It's fact now.

I'm not trying to damage control, but Metal Gear Solid 3 had amazing replay value. I remember playing the demo for it over and over and over again (the demo was up until the point where you reached Sokolov for the first time).

If (huge IF) Ground Zeroes has the same replay value, then you'll be getting a lot for U$40. I'm honestly taking a "wait and see" approach here, but still, I remain cautiously optimistic.

That's honestly what I'm thinking. Hope we're not proven wrong though...

"Through" is a very cut and dry word...it implies they played start to finish , AND had time to play side ops...

So i have to subscribe for 12 issues?

Is there any option to ONLY buy this one issue? 20 pages of MGSV = instant buy for me.

So is this kind of like that crowd funding stuff where they are releasing something early to help find the rest of the game?

4 hours...😒

:(

...Okay

---------------------
4 hours is so small :((

It is. But I wonder about the rest of the content and what that tallies up to. Tack on a few more hours of lean but good content and I won't bitch too much.

I can see why some aren't gonna like the fact that it's shorter than previous games. That's what happens when you strip down the cutscenes. The MGS aren't that long, but what makes it longer than it seems is the story and being stealthy.

GZ is shorter than usual, though.

Oh shit it was metal gear! Rad! I was expecting some shitty ubisoft or EA game, now i can read 20 pages about a game I actually care about, good job for once GI.
