Game Informer March: Metal Gear Solid V (Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain)

Not MGSV related but

Why isn't Metal Gear Acid 1 and 2 on PSN?
Is it an oversight? licensing Issue? Does no one like the game at Konami HQ?

Honestly, whenever someone asks "Why isn't X Classic Sony release available on Y?" I reply with "That's a really good question for Sony." I'm not sure where the conversation begins at Konami HQ, but I know Sony is always listening and if they request a title it usually happens.

Did the version GameInformer played include the whole ending cutscene? If so did they tell us the whole ending in the article or was they told to keep quiet? I mean according to the article they weren't even sure if what they saw lead to the coma or not.

I haven't read the article yet, but I don't think they did. Or at least, I would hope they wouldn't. That'd be kind of a dick move, right?

Will the physical versions indeed have extra content? If so, when will that content be detailed?

I think there are still a few things left to be resolved about GZ's total contents. I don't have an answer for this at this time.

So has anybody noticed how this video ends with "Let the legend come back to life" and the OLD MGS FANFARE STARTS PLAYING?!

Ok, the logos are on it now, so there's no excuse.

Can we bring this to Kojima's attention? Like, seriously.

The difference is so staggering. Like the best cover art ever vs. the worst.

Seriously. I don't know where he got this idea that GIANT CGI SNAKE FACE looks good compared to Shinkawa art. Even MGS4 and Peace Walker HD had this problem:

Compare that to the masterful limited edition box:

Then there's Peace Walker HD...

ugh. Shinkawa is the best in the business. Use the dude's art!

About the Ground Zeroes duration, I'll probably don't pick it at launch and wait for impressions/lower price.

Here's a question... what's up with that image of Solid Snake hidden in the background? ;)

Now that's interesting. To be fair we don't have a lot of detail in that image, but certainly seems a Shinkawa sketch of a younger Snake without patch in the right eye. It could be a new/unknown character, but is certainly similar to young Snake art..

Wow.

Wasn't Kojima all pro-Xbox this gen?

I think that was the plan.

Maybe its something weird like MS has co marketing on Phantom Pain but GZ counts as a completely different game not tied to that contract so Kojima can say whatever the heck he wants.

Like how Rising was going to be a big Xbox push but then it got canned and restarted at PG and oh look! Sony is co marketing it!

Wow.

No, it's definitely Solid Snake. It's not even new art. It's from the cover of the Metal Gear Solid Essential Collection:

From left to right: Big Boss, MGS1 Snake, MGS2 Snake. At least that's how it looks to me.

Thanks for the image, I swore I've seen before that art but I wasn't sure. At least curious, maybe its a hint? Or a little easter egg about all that thing of "past and future of Metal Gear Solid"?

You better check yourself.
Kidding.

I was fortunate enough to meet Shinkawa-san at last year's E3. He is a boss amongst bosses, for sure. Very pumped at that art.

For those that don't know, GameInformer will have content made available every other day for GZ for a while, so make sure to check out their MGSV hub if you're interested (there's also some bomb-ass Shinkawa work on that page, too).

Bring on the questions!

What is the possibility of having this cover art as a reversible cover in the physical versions?

Or maybe the designer of GameInformer's Metal Gear searched for Metal Gear Solid pictures at google and just used it.

I see....Looks like i need to bug some Sony Reps on Twitter.

That's possible. All we really know is that it was hidden in the picture and whoever put it there must have expected us to find it. Even if it was Game Informer, you can bet they already know more about the games than they're allowed to openly talk about. I can't imagine Konami being happy about the picture being there if they didn't want it to be and I doubt Game Informer would risk agitating the publisher just for a joke.

Thanks for this! Yeah, I thought so too. Although most of what it did tell us I sort of worked out from the trailers already, but they definitely spoiled other things like who
survives
and made it seem like that was it. I hope there's some kind of shocking ending cutscene they were told to keep under wraps. This tweet gives me hope:

The responses to that tweet are so good.
