Introductions in MH kind of suck for people who have played a lot of the series but for a first time player they're pretty much necessary I think. There are a lot more mechanics to go over than in games like Toukiden. And even Toukiden didn't go over the mechanics well enough, I play with a lot of people online who don't know the basics of the mechanics like how purification works etc.
Meat Chie? Just kidding Rise still the best.
See, we're all on the same page here.
Nah Christmas. So the early celebrations of Christmas in our country is like a punishment to me.
Isn't this game old? I already saw this as a PS+ free game in Asia before.
Really man? I practically ignored her for 3/4ths of the game. I have to force myself to go on an activity with her, and straight up friendzoned her. No regrets felt. She sounds a bit off in P4G from the last time I played the PS2 version.Chie best girl <3
I see. Thanks.2.0 aka full version
Good luck finding a real life version of her. Just kidding don't kill me.if you find a girl who's into martial arts and meat you don't fucking let go of her

Monster Hunter doesn't do hand holding. Like at all. In fact most people would accuse it of the opposite. It does have missions in the first ranks that allow you to get familiar with basic mechanics though, something that I feel Toukiden is lacking. For example a quest that requires you to combine items, or cook meat, carve from enemies etc etc.So... just put a "Do you want some Tutorials?" text box when you start the game. It's amazing how many subsystems MH has and how they didn't explain you anything. In Toukiden, even if they don't do the best job in the world explaining stuff, the tutorial missions are short and better done, they give you a little explanation about how purification works (though they don't explain everything) and they have text boxes for Mitamas and other stuff. Probably the game benefits for not having so many things behind the scenes.
Since I liked Toukiden, I might give another try to MH if there is demo on eShop whenever I bought a 3DS. Maybe I'll be surprised, know that I'm probably more convinced about the genre conventions. But that doesn't change the fact that there should be some help for beginners. Even if there is 290h of joy, any game should need you to play for 10h before you even know if you enjoy the game or not. Spelunky (which most people here clasify as a really skill based game) is fun even if you're dying because the learning curve (while brutal) is satisfiying.
Just put a tutorial, teach the basis, put a battle where your options are: using the game mechanics o GTFO and throw the game to the rubish can (which I think already happens). Explanations =/= hand holding.

Merry Christmas indeed.

Last time this happened it lasted 2 pages and someone (Laughing Banana I believe) snidely posted the Persona OT.There's already one in the community and it's actually on its fourth iteration already.
The speed with which I dropped Yukiko when Rise came into the scene is absolutely staggering. I had gotten to Yukikos 8th Social Link and by Rise's 3rd Yukiko just sat over there in a corner until it was nearly end game wrap up.Not when you have alternative of lifetime of free hot springs

It has frame rate issues and supposedly also input lag. Wait for a patch and don't buy it.

I'll strongly agree with Kiriin. They're great games, the battle system is still very fun regardless of how different it is in P2 and Innocent sin.
P3P is more akin to P4G in every single way, whereas P2 deals with more adult characters and P2PSP uses the now overused schoolboy trope. ( I really like P2 Eternal Punishment)
As far as how it looks, I took some shots.
P2 EP
P2 Innocent Sin (PSP Remake)
hmm are both PSP games? and on the US PSN store?
Only Innocent Sin's PSP remake got localised in English. Eternal Punishment is the PSOne classic version. Both are on the US PSN store, only Innocent Sin is on the European one.hmm are both PSP games? and on the US PSN store?

God! is so hard!! , i get that there is frame rate issues with dustforce but i will eventually get it, same for BitTrip2 and Persona3P . I will eventually get all of them but now i have to decide wich one first, i guess becouse i bought recently Olli Olli would be recommendable to buy dustforce, but bit trip is tempting too and im about to finish Persona 4 so PErsona3P is tempting tooo. Im such a mess regarding this type of choices.

If you have a PS3 get Persona 3 FES for that. Going from being able to roam around on P4G to only being able to pick locations from boxes on the screen in P3P isn't a fun thing.

Sorry Flandy I know you generally dislike her but having had a singer ex-girlfriend before she reminds me of her. Why did I two timed her?

Yeah I don't think it loses too much because of the lack of 3D exploration. Some scenes do kind of lose their impact because they're just conveyed through text, but it's not going to ruin the experience for you too much.I dont have PS3 thats maybe why i enjoy so much Vita-Ports and Vita-games , everything is new to me on this console. Regarding Persona3P ive already play a little of it on PSP and it is a really cool game even with the exloration parts being cutted off.
They're not that similar - P4 is an RPG, while Danganronpa is a visual novel adventure game. Can anyone who's played both Persona 4 and DanganRonpa tell me how they compare? Everything I've seen makes them look really similar, and I've enjoyed P4 so much I'm tempted to give it a shot.
I have not played Danganronpa yet but I can't imagine there would be much similarity at all beyond being able to level up friendships with people. Can anyone who's played both Persona 4 and DanganRonpa tell me how they compare? I'm glad someone shares my sentiments. I can't stand the mention of waifu or #teamanything in regards to anything though. The waifu shit that inevitably monopolizes giant chunks of every Persona thread over in gaming is terrible.

The proof is in that most people online don't seem to know exactly how Toukiden works. They don't know they you're not damaging a monster's HP if you aren't attacking broken off parts or it's not in that "purple mode", they don't know that you have to purify parts or else it reclaims them. There's tonnes of stuff like that which isn't explained at all. Literally all they tell you about purification is that you press the R trigger to do it.
The 10 hours you quote of as needing to learn how to play it is ridiculous hyperbole as well. At least it's a bit better than people claiming it takes 20 hours, ridiculous.
I'm pretty much done discussing MH in this thread though, since so many people are set in their ways against it. Whenever I seem to point out something I like about MH people go into offensive lol.

I mean Danganronpa is a pure visual novel style game with more in common with stuff like Ace Attorney and 999.
Nah it's all good, there's just a really resoundingly strong dislike for MH in this thread. If you're trying to get into it I really wouldn't expect to like it from the demo for MH3U, it's a terrible demo. Basically just throws you into two later-game fights with monsters and doesn't tell you anything, the Toukiden demo is definitely much, much better.I didn't want to sound harsh, sorry if my words sounded like that. I have just woken up, so that may be the reason my empathy meters were low. It was the reason I posted a little later compared to other posts.
As I've said, I'll give it a try again if I buy a 3DS. I've liked Toukiden, maybe now that I'm not that new to the genre I'll be able to climb the learning curve![]()

Unless you live outside the USAs is you can have all 5 Persona games on your Vita:
PSP: P1, P2, P3
PSX: P2
PSV: P4
That's all mainline Persona games on the go.
As if Persona is anything but a game to pander to everything the Japanese are portrayed to want. It's because high school is the high point of their life and it coddles the player into easy mode relationships. The waifu shit that inevitably monopolizes giant chunks of every Persona thread over in gaming is terrible.
It's entirely possible.wat. Where did you get that impression? Rise is mah waifu
