The Switch 2 has absolutely been a massive success. But I think this exaggerates that success by only using 4 days worth of data for it. I don't think anyone expects it to maintain nearly 900k units every day for the first month or even the first two weeks. The sales are clearly going to be front loaded for console launches with good supply.

Switch² is killing it, like violently, we're talking real slaughter with gruesome dismemberment, pools of blood and broken families.🔪😁
Nintendo must be happy with the results so far.💰💰💰

On the other hand here's an accurate depiction of anyone thinking the Steam Deck is a console:

Because scalpers bought 4+ consoles each per scalper I don't know one person who has the switch 2 enjoy your switch 2 if you have one I think people are thinking about series x, ps5 and pc gaming still. I hope for all our sakes Nintendo is done with these "hybrid" consoles and the return to traditional consoles, let regular handhelds come back, pay their respect to the gameboy and psp.

It seems like it will be a very succesful console.

However, there is a problem with this data set, launch units for the PS4\5 (and very likely the Switch 1) were constrained by their respective units made.

They could have put the xbox one sales units over this period and it would probably be pretty close to the PS4's at that point in their lifespan.

Good on Nintendo for making enough units!

It's all about stock availability.

PS4/PS5/Switch 1 instantly sold every unit manufactured for years but Nintendo has done an amazing job with making stock available for the Switch 2.

Only if they cloned themselves twice, and one of the three was able to get ahold of two.

Very disingenuous way to represent the data with different time spans.

Also, Switch 2 while no doubt in high demand up front was probably the only console on here that had more than adequate supply. PS4, PS5 & Switch (1) all sold out and likely would've sold more if supply was there.

Comparing different time metrics, good job. Usually as time goes on there's more market and worldwide presence, so it attracts more public. And with recent times' lack of stock and scalping, no wonder they sell like pancakes. The ps6 is gonna sell like cocaine at the door of a popular club

Those graphs are all probably incorrect. Day 1 sales for them all were far higher and then much lower for the days that followed as available units sold out.

Has the biggest inventory of launch units and sells a lot of that inventory at launch.

P.S. Can't wait for third parties to bail and to see Nintendrones pretending Midtendo released the GOTY again like its 1998.

how? ps4 sold 1M in 24h, in US only, and launch wasn't global. these numbers doesn't make any sense.

Yeah. I remember those games with the Wii. On the other side the poorly received Wii U only had a fuck ton of games that then they were microwaved into what today is widely known as "the Nintendo Switch catalog". Which also sold very well, even better than the Wii.

Not a fair comparison at all since the PS4 and PS5 were both sold out at launch, the PS5 was in extremely short supply its whole first year pretty much. Nintendo had the units to sell, that's the big take-away here.

So, its not fair because Nintendo produced more stock than the others?

That seems like some solid logic right there.

Great. A huge user base already…now how about some decent third party support over the next few weeks? The Switch 2 eShop is like the Switch 1 android slop wasteland all over again

Don't worry. Your poor feelings and Sony's will be fixed with PS6. Since Xbox isn't a factor anymore, Sony won't have to rush the console out for a holiday release and they can spend time manufacturing and stock piling for a spring release like Nintendo did.

Taking away from Nintendo's success because of "tHey mANufaCtUreD more" ignores the fact that Sony could've always done that as well.

Nintendo fans are truly the worst. Why are you both so butthurt that I stated the simple fact that you can't sell more units than you have on hand. And no, Sony could not have built more. It's a lot harder to build state of the art systems rather than cheap handhelds based on existing 5 year old tech. And in the case of the PS5, global supply chains were heavily affected by the pandemic so truly a stupid comment.

COVID has gone and PS5 is still struggling to match the sales of Nintendo Switch sales launch-aligned.

Perhaps it was Sony that used artificial scarcity to pent up the demand instead of Nintendo.

Showing your ass.

What does that even mean? You're upset about more facts? The Switch 2 is a cheap handheld that Nintendo sells for a huge profit. The screen is absolutely horrible, a 33ms response time is beyond abysmal and leads to massive ghosting. The ARM A78 cores that make up the CPU portion of the SoC are cores that came out in 2020, it's literally 5 year old phone tech.
