It's a definite NO from me. I've grown out of Nintendo games honestly. It's just not my thing anymore. I find their recent games way too easy and IMHO, they cater more towards family and children.

Plus....when you include tax in California, I am not looking to spending $500 on the console/handheld, $100 on physical games, $55 a year to get the absolute worst online platform available today.

I was fine with the system itself, even if it's $450. But what they're asking for in game price is causing me to waffle. It would be one thing if Nintendo games ever went on sale, but they don't.

once I saw I could buy Botw And TotK and touch myself as I experienced better frames and resolution for another 200 hours of what I already played I was sold.

From what I was able to grasp, not in the slightest.

I didn't watch the direct, only breadscrumbs of it, but reading across the board it's a nop for me.

Need to actually see the direct and the games to get a conclusion.

I was on the fence before, but this was a remarkably disappointing Direct.

This was their best shot and they flubbed it big time in a lot of ways.

Finding out about the pricing after the direct dampened my enthusiasm a bit, but the showcase itself was alright.

New 3D Donkey Kong, new Daemon X Machina, and Metroid 4 I do want. Hopefully Dustbloods will be good.

Nope. I buy 3rd party the most and I'm good on that front on ps5 pro so that leaves Nintendo first party games in which I have no interested in so that leaves what?

So nope

What I thought was kind of funny was when they were showing the magnets on the Joycons, the text box above said "Tricky". Were they actually saying the magnet feature is a bit difficult? LOL!!

Not really, I will eventually get one but not in the near future... Maybe 2027? There is nothing really interesting (for me) and to buy one just to be gathering dust on my desk...

$500 US Dollars
$90 games
DRM'd Fake DLC code cartridges that require the fake cartridge to play
Paid DLC instruction manual
Samsung 8nm with sub-2 hour battery
Well short of base PS4 hardware and visuals
Utterly bizarre focus on mouse controls that will be completely unplayable for 99% of Switch's use cases (i.e on-the-go and on the couch)

Nintendo have truly out Nintendo'ed themselves

Not yet, maybe later. Switch 2 might be my second console along Ps5. This June, my priority purchase and gameplay will be DS2 along with Doom Dark ages, indiana jones, and Stellar Blade x nikke

Mario Kart is $80, 70 for the rest
Don't buy the "instruction manual"
2 hour battery? Pulling this information out of your ass?
Mouse controls on Civ 7, Metroid Prime and Mario Party all looked great.

Don't be intentionally misleading, makes you look like a dumbass

You can't pass up Nintendo's first party games, so I'll get it eventually.

Two major gripes about the console:
1. Screen downgrade from OLED.
2. No improved ergonomics for handheld mode. (Big miss IMO)

Not interested in trading OLED for upgrade patches right now.

No OLED is the one letdown but a 120Hz screen with HDR isn't something I was expecting out of Nintendo so that def. softens the blow

No, not at all.

I'll probably get one down the line for my kid and as a retro type device to play Switch 1 games (assuming there aren't amazing new titles coming for it in the future we don't know of, yet).

The presentation wasn't mind-blowing, but sufficient I think. Hardware is about what I expected. Decent line-up of first party games. Lots of 3rd party ports, but that's unsurprising for the launch year. Some disappointing/baffling decisions but nothing too crazy.

It's mostly the stuff outside the Direct that has soured my view on the system. The pricing on hardware and games is astounding really. I'll probably still get one though.

They sold me on sticking to Switch 1.

Only game I cannot live without is MP4. It looks similar- ish to Switch 2 version at 60 fps, so am good.

2 hours chief, straight from Lord Miser himself, brand new. Few charge cycles and you'll be struggle bussing to 1.5 on intensive games. That watch battery and 8nm $10 SOC putting in work! At least it's only $500 though.

They are saving it for the inevitable Switch 2 OLED version.
Right that's the fear, and it will be difficult to buy the LCD screen indefinitely until that does or doesn't come out.

One other thing to add about the reveal:
I like their vision for multiplayer, but let's be real no one is going to be buying that giant ugly camera. To get traction on this it would have to be using hardware built into the console. Doing that and having avatar filters could have been a hit IMO.

I don't much care for the current Switch, and the only things likely to sell me on its successor were the games. As stands, nothing announced for 2025 has me wanting a Switch 2.

I was thinking I'd pick one up but I expected Nintendo to disappoint. Then I watched the direct, I couldn't help but laugh and couldn't stop laughing during it. Mario kart world? terrible graphics, open world slop.... The third party games? All looked worse than on ROG Ally. Lots of games looked like they were using some sort of FSR. The video feature? 15 fps videos anyone? Cyberpunk? Looks as bad as it does on the steam deck. Framerate of 3rd party games looks suspect like Elden ring for example.

Ok so the show was a disaster, lets look at the website. 2-6 hour battery life? Lmao. "Upgrade pack" for backwards compatibility games? Lmao. $629/$699 CAD without taxes for a nintendo console? More than a ps5? Omega LOL. Then you have a look at the game prices? Lmao

0 chance I buy this anytime soon. Ridiculous from Nintendo.

its a no from me dawg GIF

Literally says 2-6.5 hours on the page chief. Same battery range as the OG Switch and still better than most of the other hybrid handhelds.

I also like how you gloss over everything else lmfao.

two to six means it can also be drained in two hours.

No. The games don't look particularly better than before and the prices are absolutely horrendous.

Before I was all about preordering it asap, but the prices really chilled me on that.

Just had to change my vote to NO. The physical game copy price is a big NO go for me.

The crazy part is that the charge time is 3 hours. So if you're playing a demanding game that drains the battery in 2 hours, then you could spend more time charging than playing games :messenger_tears_of_joy: . This is lcd steam deck levels of battery life.

It's not that expensive and the only legit way to play new Nintendo games.

Why would I deny myself this because I'm salty?

I mean yeah. Running a game like MP4 at 120fps is probably a bit intensive.

Battery life is still comparable to pretty much every other hybrid console in the market today in a (imo) much better form factor

It may well run Pacman or Pong for 12 hours, but lets be honest here, the games everyone's interested in and buying the system for (the AAA Metroid, Zelda, Mario, DK, etc) will all be 2 hours or less. You of course know this, as does everyone reading this.

Like with the original Switch they need to announce more exclusives for me first.

Its a good start with Mario Kart and Donkey Kong, but I can play Prime 4 on the Switch and not interested in Kirby Air Ride or Hyrule Warriors. In the next Direct they should show some first p[arty 2026 games.

That doesn't happen with the Switch, so no I don't "know this".

Yes, definitely, it is exactly what I expected from it, I don't get what else were people expecting lol for it to take on a flight and then get home and wash your dishes?
Better games,
More reasonable Prices on their Games,
Not spending so much time on bullshit chat functions and camera functions thats been around for decades and few will buy,
Games that were more visualy appealing and looked like more than just PS3/PS4 level of games,
Some Reason or piece of Software that really wanted me to go out and buy it,
Should I go on?

I also didn't know this lmao.

The amount of salt and mental gymnastics people have been on today to downplay the Switch 2 has been insanely fun to read
Not sure what's there to be positive about.

Gaming chat from 2010? A webcam?

Soulcalibur II?

No OLED, no buy.
I'll probably buy one when the OLED version comes out in 2 or 3 years time.

Good first impression though, much better than whatever the fuck Sony and Microsoft did 5 years ago.
