It's Nintendo, and it's the successor to one of their best consoles ever. Of course, I will buy it, but not yet. I'm still waiting for some big first-party games like Mario, Zelda, and Animal Crossing before I go out and buy one.

Awe I forgot and missed the whole thing and now I can't catch up till after work.

That price though... $450? I'm not looking forward to paying it.

No doubt, Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza look great on their own merits.

But that really doesn't feel like enough to launch the successor to the Switch with. When most of the titles are ports, and the new IP showcased is a wheelchair basketball game that looks like hot garbage, and the only other paid title offered from Nintendo to lineup with the launch is a tutorial system demo (LMAO), yeah, it was very easy to feel disappointed from this. The only other interesting title was Kirby Air Riders, but we didn't even get gameplay of that, even though it's releasing this year.

Then all the news about the disastrous pricing following the Direct...

Definitely a miss. Switch 2 needed a stronger launch than this.

So we'll wait until more exciting titles come. New Mario, new Zelda, new Smash Bros. is probably what it will take for me to buy in.

I don't need it day 1 but I'm sold. It's more powerful and better than I thought it would be. It's not mind blowing or anything but it's a healthy upgrade. The price is a bit more than I feel it should be it's not too far off the mark.

This might be it for me fellas, I might just become a retro gamer from now on, I can just replay my catalog of old games and easily have another 20 years of stuff to play.

Physical is $90

Unfortunately no. I use my Switch so rarely after playing the few big releases I wanted. I don't give a shit about the portable aspect personally, so it's been collecting dust.

I was weighing up getting a Switch OLED a few days ago, but looks like the Mario and Zelda games will be getting upgrades. And the screen is 1080p HDR which is a combination you don't see often. It's enough for me to get one.

Nah,the only game I want is Duskbloods and it's not a tipical From game at that either so I ain't buying it for one game that I'm somewhat excited for. That presentation was pathetic for a first time "trying to sell you on the product" type video.

All I needed to hear was exclusive Souls game. The DuskBloods sold me. I have to get it by time that game comes out.

No. I haven't bought Nintendo hardware since the Game Cube and I'm not planning on buying any. Nintendo or others.
Still impressed with Mario Kart World.

Nope. But i don't own a Switch, never a Wii U and a Wii only for a few weeks.
Only Zelda and Mario Jump'n'Runs are interessting, but not enough to pay 300 $ (Switch) or 450 $ (+Taxes) für a Switch 2.
I've enough to play on my PS5.
Make the Switch 2 cheaper or bring enough games, but at the moment is it a "Nope" for me.

Nah, but I'm not a core nintendo guy. It looks like a reasonable iteration from the switch if you'e already dedicated to that ecosystem and ready to upgrade. It just made me look forward to the day when I can get a Steam Deck 2.

Hdr on an lcd, whats more useless.

Just got the confirmation I'm selected for the pre-order next week.

Yeah,... I qualified. I'm a consumer whore. I'll be buying it not least for the launch day Mario Kart hijinks with family.

Direct was good though. Launch window lineup seems pretty solid and I can play my OG Switch games on it so I'm in.

Hell no. Mario kart looked fun, but looked worse graphically than my series S. Then ports galore won't make me buy a new console. And then comes no gameplay teasers. Then there is still Nintendo thinking making their own discord in 2025 is revolutionary. To top it off, 90€ games, 470€ console. It's fucking over.

I am about to buy a quest 3 just out of spite.

I'm considering buying their new pro controller and pro controller only, though.

if anything they are managing in dissuading me from buy one, and I was ready to preorder 24h ago...now I'm evaluating better options for my money

No.
Too expensive.
Games are expensive.
Probably weaker than a Series S despite being $150 more.
Good backwards compatibility is still in question.

They sold me more on hoping Xbox knocks it out of the park with their handheld. I am not a hard no on the Switch 2 but definitely not excited. I am going with meh.

I was sold before the Direct since I only wanted an updated Switch, but the show left me a bit underwhelmed.

Mario Kart looks great but isn't really my cup of tea and DK Bananza is probably fun, but not a console seller. I know we're buying into the promise of future titles but I had hoped for a must-have game at launch I guess.

I will probably buy it anyway because I know Nintendo and third party will deliver during its lifetime but I was not impressed by the software at launch.

I waited to play Tears of the Kingdom.
And now I get to play only once for the definitive Switch 2 edition.
I'm so glad I waited.

Nope, not at all. I bought many first party Nintendo games for the Switch and only played/finished Zelda TOTK so that played a big role in my decision. Duskblood was about to convince me, but then I found out it's a multiplayer game. It will probably come to other platforms as well.

I might consider getting one after a new 3d Zelda game.

Fake? Zoom out lol, look at the Y axis.

I was just saying it didn't look like a strong breakout or a true reversal, just a retracement. That move felt about as convincing as Nintendo's Switch pitch did at convincing me that I'd be buying into something massive.

Edit: I might be eating my words. Trumps announcement isn't horrible so far.

I was super excited during the Direct and was sold, but then when there was no price announcement I feared the worst.

Finding out the console is $450 afterwards didn't please me, but I could justify that as a one time painful cost.

Finding out the games are $70-$80 is what's killing me. That's a lot of money over time, especially for Nintendo games which historically don't have big sales. It took the hype right out of my sails and changes how I think about it now. That increase in price removes any sense of impulse or curiosity purchasing I may have had.

Yes. I never got the first one so I won't miss out this time round. Glad it's got backwards compatibility. Also looking forward to horsing a collection of retro games on it. I haven't played a Zelda game since N64 days. Haven't played a Mario game since GameCube days. Looking forward to adding a Nintendo to my living room after so many years.

No, my interest in Ninty's homegrown IP remains low and I have two other, probably stronger, consoles to play most third party content.

The Steam Deck retroactively became a better deal with Nintendo prematurely ejaculating in front of millions today, and Valve doing as little as possible, as usual, for the better. All they have to do is keep updating the software stack and release a new model once in a while. You don't fuck around with something that just works.

I dunno... It just cemented the value proposition being 'Switch Pro/Switch HD' type of upgrade.
On the other hand - they announced a Bloodborne 2*
Then again it's not launching until 2026 so not in any rush to buy this thing.

*Oh btw - great job there Sony holding onto that name
