Not even close to being fascist.

The only people who think this are those who don't understand fascism.

PBS cancellation was enough for me. But, use of executive power arbitrarily, threats of retribution, and attempts to consolidate power within the executive branch, glorifying strongman imagery, tolerating paramilitary elements, and threatening political and foreign opponents with intervention, targeting specific groups (migrants, minorities, political opponents) with hateful rhetoric, echoes fascist tactics, and kidnapping foreign leaders, just touches on it..

Checks on the list are many, I am afraid.. But, I guess we can just keep on waiting until things get better and improve? What was that latest, women who perform abortion in some states US are now charged with murder? Wth are you guys doing?

Sorry, was mistaken, ICE is nothing like the Brownshirts, because the brownshirts actually identified themselves, ICE agents are just total cowards. The Brownshirts wore brown shirts. And pants, coats, hats, insignia, etc. They had an actual uniform that they wore like brand ambassadors for authoritarian paramilitary violence.

ICE? Not so much. No official uniform, no clear identification, nothing that says, "I am a recognized member of a government agency, and what I am doing is legal." Instead, they go for that "Target clearance rack meets SWAT cosplay" vibe: a tactical vest you can buy on Amazon, maybe an old baseball cap, and a face mask they want you to know isn't there for any health-related reasons. That's not a uniform. You can tell because people have easily copied the look to impersonate ICE numerous times in the past to brutalize or rob immigrants, knowing that it's virtually impossible to tell apart government agents and straight-up criminals in wraparound glasses.

Not going fascist, yeah, right.

No.

You have social media level understanding of fascism and getting a lot of it mixed up with Nazism.

Please stop. You're embarrassing yourself.
According to the people like him, fascism it is always "something I don't like". COVID lockdownds, arrests was not fascism. Deplatforming was not fascism for them etc.

It is amazing how brainwashed the people are. Like worse than radical religious nutjobs.

We have this problem thanks to social media. Anything right of centre is labeled fascist, and anything left of centre is communist. There is no middle ground.

I don't agree personally with Trump's approach to Greenland. It's risky and could cause conflict, but I wouldn't call it fascist. I think it's just hot air and threats to try and scare Denmark and or Greenland in accepting a US take over. I don't actually think he's dumb enough to use direct force.

His approach to Greenland has nothing to with either fascism or communism or liberalism etc. Greenland case is not any kind of a political ideology (aside maybe imperialism but it is kinda not the ideology).

I don't actually think he's dumb enough to use direct force.
After all these years people still think that Trump is dumb, which is hilarious. Trump is doing what he is always doing - accelerating the process. Talking will go nowhere. Action is necessary. Trump gives a lot of offramps but various groups are trying to drag the process as long as possible. The threat should be taken serious because it is not a time of jokes. A big war will happen again sooner or later. It is like with Madura - he has been an annoyance for years. And he would be an annoyance for years as neither UN, nor other players would have done anything to him. Letter of condemnation? What a joke. Iran has been a pain in the ass for years too. Sometimes things just happen - like Assad's fall. Post Madura kidnapping, people and countries treat Trump much more serious. B2 bombing was impressive, but still was within the bounds of the "international law". Maduro's kidnapping? That's not a joke anymore.

USA really went full brown shirt?

Hope ICE and MAGA folks understand that they too will be replaced, downright idiotic that the same shit is repeating, but atleast date wise, we are almost on point.
Did you miss where we were flooded with 15+ million people in just 4 years from people ALL over the world?

This is nothing like brown shirts, this is law enforcement doing the right thing and removing them. If you think it's a problem you should have been protesting all the people flooding in because ICE wouldn't have to go remove them.

As far as PBS goes, tax payers shouldn't have to pay for blatantly biased and unprofessional reporting.

Fascism is simply the merger of state and corporate power to control people. For instance big tech working with government to censor people is fascism.

then i guess the usa was a fascist country under joe biden since zuckerberg admitted they censored facebook because of white house pressure

I'm confused. Are they for us or against us?

I know you're being sarcastic, but it's pretty clear they're not on our side. What they're pointing out is what some people would call an obvious resource grab, and let's be honest, that's exactly what it is. :messenger_tears_of_joy: This is geopolitical and strategic.

What the post is trying to do is makes the U.S. look bad but it actually makes China and Russia look bad. The fact that the U.S. can secure resources with little to no resistance from Venezuela's supposed allies reflects poorly on them, not us. All the posturing and Twitter commentary just comes off as stupid.

Then again, our president isn't exactly above internet trolling either, so I guess that makes us even.

Chinese propaganda latest

Damn, China is doing an amazing job at making the USA look utter badass.
It's probably not their intention. But the result is still awesome.
Or maybe this is a way of self projection of what China whishes they could be, but know they are not.

They always do that unintentionally. Check out these clips from a recent Chinese propaganda movie

He's lost his edge over the years.

I died of cringe.

He's gone mainstream.

He's done work for both RT and the BBC, but if you look at the timeline of it, it isn't out of 'balance', but rather who would actually pay up.

I don't blame him, but the initial Trump election video was his last great one.

I think you're getting confused with the UK.

ICE won't come and get you in plain clothes for a spicy tweet.

They'll come and get, with at least an 'ICE' baseball cap on, for being in the US illegally.

- Stoic professional gigachad armada obliterates communist invasion force to save Korea

- "[The film] was commissioned by the Central Propaganda Department of the Chinese Communist Party as part of the Party's 100th anniversary celebrations."

Thanks for the support, guys!
What is interesting though is that the Soviet Union's propaganda against Nazi Germany was much better. They did not show Nazi Germany as an unstoppable, mighty force—but more like jackals against the might of the Soviet people. Much more powerful optics. And during the Cold War, the USSR was still trying to portray itself as a mighty force.

I guess it kind of reflects their tradition of "the small guy wins against the bigger guy." It is shown everywhere in art, for example. One young guy becomes strong enough to fight against the mighty, destructive organization, etc. It doesn't work that well for propaganda though, because the West treats them as the "powerful state," while they consider themselves "small guys." In the West, we also have something like this, but in literature it usually rotates around allies, support from the "great wizard," etc. China does not have allies.

The four major U.S. banking corporations JPMorgan Chase & Co., Bank of America (BofA), Wells Fargo and Citigroup (Citi) plan to start operations as of next week in #Caracas under the control of the U.S. government's Treasury Department.

It will be through these- that the U.S. government will handle all transactions in #Venezuela

Public employees at all levels of government- will receive salaries through these banks.

Farewell Central Bank of Venezuela, farewell bolivars.

On the road to dollarization.

I guess the oil investment will go through the similar route. I think somebody had a theory on that where basically the oil infrastructure would be owned by the USA government, while all the world would be done by the corporations to get the protection.

The US is going to have a very long term presence in Venezuela. It just won't be a military one. It'll be a financial, commercial, and industrial one backed up by the looming threat of future force if the current government steps out of line. They'll help reinforce the institutions needed to make sure they get an acceptable transition to a better government, friendly to the US. At least that's my read on this. Entrench the US into the hearts and minds of the Venezuelan people in a way that legitimately benefits both in obvious, tangible ways.

Article:
WASHINGTON — The US used a powerful mystery weapon that brought Venezuelan soldiers to their knees, "bleeding through the nose" and vomiting blood during the daring raid to capture dictator Nicolas Maduro, according to a witness account posted Saturday on X by the White House press secretary.

In a jaw-dropping interview, the guard described how American forces wiped out hundreds of fighters without losing a single soldier, using technology unlike anything he has ever seen — or heard.

"We were on guard, but suddenly all our radar systems shut down without any explanation," the guard said. "The next thing we saw were drones, a lot of drones, flying over our positions. We didn't know how to react."

Moments later, a handful of helicopters appeared — "barely eight," by his count — deploying what he estimated were just 20 US troops into the area.

But those few men, he said, came armed with something far more powerful than guns.

"They were technologically very advanced," the guard recalled. "They didn't look like anything we've fought against before."

What ensued, he said, was not a battle, but a slaughter.

"We were hundreds, but we had no chance," he said. "They were shooting with such precision and speed; it felt like each soldier was firing 300 rounds per minute."

Then came the weapon that still haunts him.

"At one point, they launched something; I don't know how to describe it," he said. "It was like a very intense sound wave. Suddenly I felt like my head was exploding from the inside."

The effects were immediate and horrific.

"We all started bleeding from the nose," he said. "Some were vomiting blood. We fell to the ground, unable to move. We couldn't even stand up after that sonic weapon — or whatever it was."

Imagine you've only fought against unarmed protesters your whole career, then at 2am suddenly Delta arrives out of the sky with cracked commandos and scifi brain melter beams.

Next week is going to be interesting. I wonder if they will try to do something similar with other countries but peacefully. I am not sure if they will enforce dollar on Venezuela though - bolivar might stay.

Personally, I am not sure if this is true. Granted, post events like this, there is always some "mythology" being created.

At first I thought the story was bogus when it first popped up, but the more I thought about it and the more I read elsewhere, I'm really starting to believe this was the case. That we really did use some new weapons and tech no one thought we had or at least not ready yet.

That operation was super clean and effective. Bypassing defenses we weren't supposed to be able to so easily. Taking out as many targets as we did, in such a short time, with no losses at all. It wasn't even a fight. It was the most ballsy smash and grab that happened so fast literally everyone was left wondering what the fuck just happened.

This account from a Venezuelan security guard loyal to Nicolás Maduro is absolutely chilling—and it explains a lot about why the tone across Latin America suddenly changed.

Security Guard: On the day of the operation, we didn't hear anything coming. We were on guard, but suddenly all our radar systems shut down without any explanation. The next thing we saw were drones, a lot of drones, flying over our positions. We didn't know how to react.

Interviewer: So what happened next? How was the main attack?

Security Guard: After those drones appeared, some helicopters arrived, but there were very few. I think barely eight helicopters. From those helicopters, soldiers came down, but a very small number. Maybe twenty men. But those men were technologically very advanced. They didn't look like anything we've fought against before.

Interviewer: And then the battle began?

Security Guard: Yes, but it was a massacre. We were hundreds, but we had no chance. They were shooting with such precision and speed... it seemed like each soldier was firing 300 rounds per minute. We couldn't do anything.

Interviewer: And your own weapons? Didn't they help?

Security Guard: No help at all. Because it wasn't just the weapons. At one point, they launched something—I don't know how to describe it... it was like a very intense sound wave. Suddenly I felt like my head was exploding from the inside. We all started bleeding from the nose. Some were vomiting blood. We fell to the ground, unable to move.

Interviewer: And your comrades? Did they manage to resist?

Security Guard: No, not at all. Those twenty men, without a single casualty, killed hundreds of us. We had no way to compete with their technology, with their weapons. I swear, I've never seen anything like it. We couldn't even stand up after that sonic weapon or whatever it was.

Interviewer: So do you think the rest of the region should think twice before confronting the Americans?

Security Guard: Without a doubt. I'm sending a warning to anyone who thinks they can fight the United States. They have no idea what they're capable of. After what I saw, I never want to be on the other side of that again. They're not to be messed with.

Interviewer: And now that Trump has said Mexico is on the list, do you think the situation will change in Latin America?

Security Guard: Definitely. Everyone is already talking about this. No one wants to go through what we went through. Now everyone thinks twice. What happened here is going to change a lot of things, not just in Venezuela but throughout the region.

yo this shit is crazy... what the hell kind of weapon tech do the black ops guys have now? dropping out of choppers with sonic blast weapons that render soldiers unable to move nigga DAMN. Horrifying shit

Guess no discussion of Greenland then until US boots are on the ground planting flags in igloos...

Had to laugh at the press conference with the orange monkey surrounded by some of the most powerful men in the energy sector trying their best to A: show fealty to the King and B: not commit anything... Yeah let's invest billions into Venezuela AGAIN and possibly lose it all when the US comes to its senses and votes in a normal person and rescinds all the previous administrations promises..

Also why the fuck is US not installing the rightful democratically elected person and instead keeping Maduro's vice president in charge??? Eh eh

Because removing the regime would probably require a war, but putting a leash on the regime apparently does not.

You need to try and understand that President Trump is operating several levels above anything we have experienced with any other President in our lifetime. He has a fingerspitzengefühl for foreign policy that comes along maybe once in a thousand years.

Explain the predicament with Denmark's Greenland then. That is a quagmire of unspeakable proportions.

Because she has no power. Period. People like you - I presume you are a democrat and "freedom" lover - do not understand that you cannot come to the country, install a person and then expect police, military and others follow him. It is not a magic land. Even in Iran if the Shakh gains power, it won't be a "everybody is happy and dancing and give up weapons".

That is a quagmire of unspeakable proportions.
Only for you.

I think it looks ridiculous, and clearly others do to. If we can work with his VP, why couldn't we have worked with Maduro.

The charges against Maduro is that he was a "narco-terrorist" and facilitated drug trafficking. But his 2nd in charge is innocent of these accusations? Or are we all on the same page that the rationale for invading Venezuela and abducting the president was bullshit pretense.

That isn't anything other than talk at the moment. But if push comes to shove most of Europe's NATO countries would likely back a transition of Greenland in exchange for continued military support from the US. They certainly don't want the US to withdraw from NATO and force them to fully fund their own defense.

In a dictatorship like Venezuela the head of the state is on his own. Everyone else in the government will say they had nothing to do with him after the fall.

Also, these people, like every politician, just want to hold on to power and will do whatever it takes.

Venezuela won't remain the same after Maduro. A big change is due, whoever is there to lead it.
