TES VI Xbox & PC exclusive is back on the menu

Anticipation Popcorn GIF
It'll be PC 2 exclusive by the time it releases

This actually makes me wonder. What is an exclusive for Xbox?

I mean Xbox games always got its PC releases. Do they count as exclusives too?

Or you're talking about the exclusive to Xbox console as what PS5 is going back to.

In a competitive market exclusives are the most important.

I would like to get back to free online play.

Then having access to multiple generations of games is fun.

Really like this new website; didn't enjoy the system on Reddit via xboxinsiders. Also, the new XBOX logo is looking great!

It's unlikely they gonna listen to user input though..

This really isn't that difficult. If you can play it on PC, it's not exclusive to Xbox. So, an Xbox exclusive is a game you can only play on Xbox.

You don't get it do you? Asha is actually Topher.

- Always the first one to post an Xbox thread.
- Feign interest in weird things like achievements but hide themselves as a community member on various forums to know what we really want. Takes a poll on a specific thread like this to confirm since GAF is her fav place.
- Always ready to defend us Green Rats.
- Asha is not woke.. yet.
- Smiles and farts like Asha.

The signs are ALL there.

It's too late now, but I wonder if making online play free would have changed anything for Xbox. It would have for me, but it doesn't feel like something that is important enough for the masses to influence their console choice 😐

If these people really like Microsoft games, they should be careful wishing for exclusives. Xbox is not going to out PlayStation the PlayStation. Xbox exclusives would just ensure less investment in Xbox games
You're not wrong, but we were barely getting exclusives before the multi platform push anyway. Last time we were eating good was around XB1 launch window. After that, exclusives were pretty few and far between aside from the nearly annual Forza games.

We got two Halo games, two gears games, Crackdown, Sea of Thieves, Ori, and a handful of 3rd party exclusives of varying degrees of quality and the basically nothing until Redfall of all games.

Don't get me wrong, I loved many of these games. Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush were incredible, for instance. But they haven't been actually competing with Sony on software in over 10 years now.

That's true, they weren't selling consoles when they had them though that's why they are no longer exclusive in the first place. That and the huge amount of money they spent buying multiplatform publishers to feed gamepass. The only reason Bethesda and Activision were worth what they were is because they are multiplatform, taking those games off of other platform drastically reduces the value of each.

At this point, paying to play online is a non-factor for the mass market. Far too many people are ok with paying to play online; the subscription services offer a lot more than just multiplayer gaming, so the value proposition is pretty strong. Kinda sneaky how these companies 'dressed up' their pay-to-play mandate.

Xbox XBOX need to focus on hardware innovation, software innovation, superior marketing, and superior pricing if they want to be somewhat relevant (to the mass market) again. So far, they've shown zero signs of understanding this.

I mean it's all well and good listening to these Xbox fans harping on about getting exclusives, but the cats out the bag.

They ruined their business model for that with Gamepass; conditioning a generation of Xbox gamers to not buy games.

You can't support exclusives on a platform if no one buys them. It's as simple as that really.

It's going to be interesting if vocal warriors convince the big publishers to go back to money hatting, only for them to be left wondering why nobody is buying their console exclusives, because the average consumer is playing a Jujutsu Kaisen reskin of Grow A Garden on their neighbor's laptop.

Xbox is already the gamepass machine for most...

Their biggest target should be affordability.

There is no exclusive big enough, important enough to save xbox. Even elder scrolls 6 wont move the needle.

If they can craft a console thats almost or equal to the ps6 in power but is significantly cheaper, with gamepass being front and centre, theh might not win the old crowd back but the younguns who just want shoop shoop dances and free to play shit will flock to it.

MS lost the generation that was was about building a catalog or library of games digitally, no ones jumping ship to a whole new ecosystem for just one or 2 exclusive games

It would be incredibly stupid for Microsoft to go back to exclusivity just because a few Microsoft fanboys - and probably even more PlayStation fanboys - are demanding it. Microsoft no longer has the platform power for that. They've basically lost on the hardware side completely and even some expensive PC-console hybrid won't change that.

Maybe it would make sense again once we reach a point where gaming is entirely streaming-based.

The achievements one, I didnt realize how much it actually irked me.
God damn, imma log in with all my burner accounts to vote for that ten hundred times!!!!

Theres so many variations of Exclusives.
Dont give games to Playstation.
Exclusivity should be a thing.
etc etc....

Mate you guys think Xbox has the market share to develop an SP exclusive release it and make a dent in the development costs?
We might get "some" exclusives but I fear the age of exclusives is all but over for Xbox.....its just too expensive.

Exclusives, without question. Competition is healthy for the industry.
Exclusives are the opposite of competition. All you do is artificially cutting off any competition and forcing anyone to play a certain game on a certain platform. Real competition would be releasing a game everywhere and letting the customer decide where he wants to play. ;)

Exclusives aren't coming back if Xbox isn't going to be a traditional console when the next generation arrives. Releasing your games on PC in addition to Xbox isn't real exclusivity. There's also the case of Xbox losing a large part of their userbase during XONE and Series generations. The whole point of expanding to PS5 and Switch was to gain additional funds to cover rising development costs. They would need to be ready for a slow and costly race back to the top.

Expanding how backwards compatibility works is a more realistic goal and I'd vote for that. Not all BC games need to have upgrades, just make them run on modern hardware.

I mean yeah at this point it's only exclusives that can make the platform survive. Combined with high quality, like FH6 or better.

Console fanboys really are the most braindead people on the planet. Imagine asking companies to artificially restrict their products so you are forced to buy multiple redundant boxes.

It get so much worse when you realize that there is an option to vote to have free online.
How can these people still accept to pay to play online in 2026.

Not saying they necessarily think this far, but without exclusives Xbox will die, and the fanboys probably don't want that.

If MS was wise, they could have made a deal to at least make it xbox console exclusive. Subnautica 2 will still launch on ps5 soon Well my point is business strategy.
You're right, Sony or Nintendo could have easily done so as well.
Are you done with the corporate fantasy cheerleading now?

Backwards compatibility for me which should include things like upres and fps boost because I have little confidence these days in quality games produced in the modern era vs the past.

Most are probably Xbox diehards who just want to stick it to PlayStation. The fact is, this is all just PR. I highly doubt Asha has any kind of real decision making power and is just the new face of the Xbox PR machine.

Exclusives are not coming back to Xbox. They will always be on PC. And when it comes to other consoles, they already let that cat out of the bag. And they're seeing to much success on PlayStation, and probably Nintendo, to go back to restricting it to just their console. Especially when the Nexbox is probably going to be $1200+ and sell even less than the Series.

If they don't make actual exclusives on Xbox… I don't even know what the point is of releasing another Xbox. Just go full third party and be done with it.

Well, they haven't been making smart decisions for awhile now. That's what's got them in the mess they've been in for over a decade. New expensive HW will just be another poor decision to add to the list. They're in a feedback loop with their diehard fans that praise any decision. Even if their decision was to reverse a previous decision that the diehards also praised.

Backwards compatibility and exclusives are the two most important things needed to give Helix any sort of change to be successful. Missing any of these two things makes it a pointless piece of tech.

I like exclusives, too.

Buying up existing and established studios, though, and calling them "first party!!!" is just crappy. "cOMpeTiShuN iS gUd." Yeah -- okay. Guess what that's NOT?

Yeah, I suspect that most people voting in the poll are hardcore Xbox fans, and that they are voting for exclusives because it would give them a "win" in the console war. As individuals, whether a game is exclusive to Xbox does not affect them at all -- it's the same game regardless. But as a members of "Team Xbox," it matters a lot, because it signifies whether Xbox (as a console) is winning or losing, rising or falling. And they're invested in that. I think that's where most of the "bring back exclusives" energy is coming from. They are mostly people who wish Xbox would get up off the mat and start swinging again in the console battle.

I think free online could have a much bigger impact than anything else in that list, but it's also quite the risky gamble because it would mean giving up a steady stream of income, but if that means more people wind up buying more systems/games on your platform, the userbase increase could offset that loss 🤔

Do they even know the pathetic install base and software sales Xbox has??

They are reversing the cause and the effect here

Even if they kill off Playstation ports, it will change nothing because they have to release on Steam anyway

The Xbox console platform is dead for good

Completely don't get b/c. I don't think the vast majority care about that. And there's a ton of b/c games as it is.

Exclusives basically mean great games made specifically for the hardware you bought. Not sure anyone really cares if they port them somewhere else 2 years later. But they should not trade away a player on their team unless they get an equivalent player or players back.

Free online would be nice but might as well ask for the console for half price while you're at it.

Achievements are and have always been dumb.

Fans, have made their feelings loud and clear already, using the new 'XBOX Player Voice' platform to push for exclusives:

"XBOX was built off of great game exclusives, you cannot sell any consoles without a reason to buy the console compared to your competition or even sending your tentpole games over to your competitor. BRING THEM BACK PLEASE!!!" reads the thread with the most votes so far (6,319). The comments within it are similarly vociferous. "If you really care about Xbox, you have to bring back exclusives," one person said. "Xbox needs to have its exclusive games to differentiate itself from the competition. Exclusives work for Sony and Nintendo, so why would it be different for Xbox?" Another added: "Exclusive content and features (hardware or otherwise) make a platform stand out in comparison to the competition. Without those, why would anyone get into the XBOX platform and not other, more popular ones? Right now XBOX simply doesn't stand out from the competition."

I'd happily buy an Xbox again if it had quality exclusives that I was interested in. That's why I buy a console 🤷‍♂️

They removed exclusives, so I sold my Xbox Series X. I regretted buying it in the first place, because I have a PC.

Haven't had a single urge to sell my PS5 or Switch consoles.
