I checked out after Glen and Abraham died. I still come into this thread time to time to see if Rick and the Crew found some peaceful place but it looks like it still one problem to the next and I was just done with it after Glen.
That'll never happen. You might as well not come back until the series finale. Every drama is one problem to the next. That's not a spoiler, it's just how every book, movie or TV drama works. Solve one problem, the next book/season/sequel has a new problem.

I thought it seemed like Dwight wasn't aware of the double cross from the Garbage People, but couldn't really do anything but go along with things once that happened.
Wasn't it him that left the wee statue Daryl found that said 'Didn't Know' (or something like that) on it?
While true, what separates good shows from this one is that a good show's next problem is something fresh that builds upon what has come before in a natural way. TWD is stuck in limbo by regurgitating the same problem again and again and again. Find a new settlement/meet new people. Things go good for a while. Then things go bad. Battle ensues. Proceed back to step 1. Lather, rinse, repeat for the farm, the prison, Woodbury, Terminus, Alexandria, the Hilltop, and the Saviors stuff, Like, whenever Negan is defeated, we all know what will happen next. There will be peace for 3-4 episodes, then a new threat will rise, and the cycle begins anew. And worst of all, despite having been through these time after time again, all evidence points to Rick and Co. not learning anything from past mistakes.
Rating: Shit sucks, will hate again come next season.
True. I'd probably say that's because the show is reluctant to stray too far from the source material. But I also don't think the audience would want the show to diverge from that pattern, as much as they claim to detest it. Any episode that hasn't had a major character death has been called "filler." Which is interesting because even in other shows that are from adapted material, you don't see that accusation for every episode. Is the show spinning its wheels? Without question. But a lot of shows do, and I don't see the filler issue come up nearly as often.
The show could become more introspective so the threats would rise above Violent Group Leader #4, but is that even what the fans really want? I don't think dissatisfaction is about the writing being worse, I think it's because the production has gotten sloppier.
They need a new type of problem to solve, such as, how to cure the zombie disease.
I'd love to see a focus on that too, but I don't get the sense they care about that. At all. I think the S1 finale is as close to a cure as this show is ever going to get.
Walkers need to be "reintroduced" as a threat as well.
I too would like to see this. I don't care what kind of hocus pocus it takes. Give them a new mutation or something. I don't care. Right now they are background fodder for human "drama". But the drama sucks so....

Yeah, introduce some sort of scientist who had made progress in bringing zombies back to life, but it didn't work fully and just ended up creating faster smarter zombies. Then the super zombies are able to infect other zombies with the same mutation by biting other zombies, and they are smart enough to know that on some level.
They need to be faster and smarter to make them scary again.

I think that's the generic zombie movie/show plot. The cure. The Walking Dead isn't about that. There's no coming back. There is no cure. Life isn't going back to normal. I think that's part of the shows story. How do people adjust to this new world.
Agreed. Focus should be on surviving and accepting the new reality.
FTFY.Walkers need to be "reintroduced" as a part of the show as well.
This just pisses me off watching it again, there is ABSOLUTELY no way that if that was really happening, you'd stop swining, how does he see the tiger behind him and why would the reaction be to stop swinging? he'd have swung and run, surely
FTFY.
Even bigger than Glenn and Abraham dying, the steady phasing out of walkers as anything but scenery eroded any interest I had in this show. I am very tired of the repeated (over)use of the "Hell is Other People" trope. Let the Walkers be a threar or at the very least an actual thing again.
What? Kirkman has said a couple times at this point that he knows how the comic will end. He even talked about it with Kevin Smith and Greg Grunberg on that AMC show Geeking out. Which was back in like October or whatever. This is a problem that exists in the comics as well. Probably due to Kirkman basically refusing to even think about a possible ending/resolution/cure.
The whole survivalist angle could at least be interesting but the show hasn't focused on that since Season 2. Instead, we will get the show you described, stuck in perpetual limbo, until the actors decide they want to move on. And when that comes, I highly doubt the conclusion will be worthwhile.
Agreed. That's when the show is at its peak.I know it's not likely to ever happen, but I wish the core group would just hit the road again, like the old days. There are far too many characters now, and I'm beyond bored of the community stuff.
I miss the group having to scavenge and survive out in the wilds.

No they didn't and Dwight left it. Also no need to use the spoiler tags after the episodes have aired.Just got around to watching the season finale tonight, Couple of questions.

Or reclaiming M4 rifles that have been in the open for probably a couple of years

Gas seems like a problem. But it's only been a couple years so I don't think it's unreasonable that there's some working cars still in existence. Is it that hard to accept that this show has its own ruleset for degradation of items? There should not be a single working car left in the entire world, yet these guys drive all over the place like it's nothing. Gasoline should have long since been rendered inert, and even if it wasn't then regular repair and maintenance would be impossible since it'd be difficult to find replacement parts. At some point you have to expect that realism is just too inconvenient for a show like this.
Really
Lets ask any other network to make a decent zombie tv show
Please
Zombies are nice but TWD is beyond horrible
Season 1 was already bad but it promised things would get better - but it only got worse

If it's supposed to be under 2 years later, they did a poor job of casting Shane's daughter.
Yeah apparently it still isn't 2 years after the event. Gas and diesel would still work, unleaded isn't going to run all that well at this point. Diesel lasts longer iirc.
It almost has to have been 2 years at this point, just based on the baby. We will definitely be at 2 years once Maggie has had her kid.
I don't know why it really matters, though. They aren't going to suddenly remove cars from the show after 2 years' time have past. That would significantly scale back on the kinds of stories they can tell. The comics are way beyond the show and I presume they're still using cars there.
Well, they actually could build in a story about finding a refinery with a group there actually capable of running it.
Really

Sounds fascinating. But that ain't TWD. Imagine the "filler" complaints as they try to learn how to refine gasoline...
Yet, 7 seasons in, you're still watching and posting on GAF about it.
Also, there are other network zombie shows.
Yeah she looks more like 3-4 than under 2.
The wiki or whatever says 9/11 months season 6 lol.
Just got around to watching the season finale tonight, Couple of questions.
1. Did they ever show howSasha got captured at Sanctuary in the last episode? It shows her sneak in, then in the cell, but no confrontation or explanation of how she got caught.
2. Who left thecat figurine that said "I didn't know"
