Last stop on the Road to WrestleMania
March 26, 2007

Mr. McMahon has promised that the last Raw before WrestleMania will be the biggest one of all time. It is only fitting that the show will air live from Chicago, the home of last year’s WrestleMania.

With two huge main events, it looks like the show will live up to Mr. McMahon’s claims. World Tag Team Champions (and WrestleMania competitors) John Cena & Shawn Michaels will face World Heavyweight Champion Batista & Undertaker in a No Way Out rematch. Will the tenuous relationship between The WWE Champ & HBK stay intact?

At WrestleMania, Mr. McMahon’s representative Umaga will face Donald Trump’s representative Bobby Lashley in the Battle of the Billionaires. On Raw, Mr. McMahon himself will go one-on-one with the ECW World Champion. Does The Chairman have what it takes to topple the powerful Lashley?

Former World Tag Team Champions Edge & Randy Orton have also been at each other’s throats of late. Will their partnership continue to disintegrate as the Road to WrestleMania comes to an end?

Fighting authority
March 27, 2007

Just when it seemed Bobby Lashley couldn’t get more dominant, he became the first person to break the Master Lock on Raw, and then stopped Chris Masters before he could even apply it the following night on ECW on Sci Fi. The ECW World Champion couldn’t have picked a better time to be at the top of his game. Will the surge continue this Monday on Raw when he faces The Chairman six days before the Battle of the Billionaires?

The last ECW on Sci Fi was a night of pulling strings for the New Breed. They managed to get an edge on the Originals when Elijah Burke found a way to top Tommy Dreamer, and Kevin Thorn & Marcus Cor Von defeated Rob Van Dam & Sabu. If that wasn’t enough, the New Breed gave CM Punk a glimpse of what life in their faction would be like. Since it led to a CM Punk win, will Burke and company be able to sway the straightedge Superstar?

Be sure to catch Lashley’s match with Mr. McMahon on Raw and don’t miss the last ECW on Sci Fi before WrestleMania on Tuesday at 10/9 CT

Next week on SmackDown, JBL will host the biggest interview in the history of sports-entertainment when he will mediate between World Heavyweight Champion Batista and his WrestleMania 23 opponent, Undertaker. What will happen when these two forces come together in the ring just two days before their legendary showdown in Detroit?

What will Mr. Kennedy, Matt Hardy, Finlay and King Booker do with their final chance to gain momentum heading into the huge Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania?

Will Ashley and Melina have another SmackDown encounter as they head into their battle for the Women's Championship on April 1?

Finally, can Montel Vontavious Porter find an edge heading into his opportunity at Chris Benoit and the United States Championship?

Tune in to Friday Night SmackDown next week at 8/7 CT on The CW Network to find out the answers to these questions just 48 hours from WrestleMania 23!

This WM card is horrible this year, far worse than last year. The MiTB ladder match is easily my most anticipated match, but even its such a cop-out in booking. You can tell that Vince just wanted creative to focus on the top 3 matches(which says a lot about their creative at this point becuase none of them are particularly interesting).

When you look at the the calibur of the guys that are wrapped up in one match, and the fact that the storyline wise the match hasn't recieved much build up, its sort of odd. Six guys in the match was perfect, eight might be a cluster ****. You have guys like Shelton, Carlito, Flair, Super Crazy, Nitro etc.. who don't have matches, wouldn't it have been smarter to put a few of them in the match as opposed to pretty much just wasting several big names on a match with no build-up? London and Kendrick for example also don't have a WM match, a gimmick match vs. the Hardy's would've been great. Edge and Booker pretty much carried the company last year and both deserved built up singles matches at mania. Hell, a heel vs. heel feud between the two would've been legendary going into WM.

King Booker vs. Edge, London/Kendrick vs. the Hardy Boyz, and Punk vs. Kennedy vs. Orton vs. Carlito vs. Flair vs. Nitro in MitB would instantly turn this into a better WM than it is now.

I think they're gonna make a Carltio/Flair match tonight, and I really hope they just put London and Kendrick against MNM since they are already feuding through Ashley/Melina. That would round out the card nicely.

How is that any different than any other year? Don't they ususally only focus on the 2 or 3 main events for WM?

MNM is no more.. Success in future endeavors has been wished upon Joey Mercury.

WWE.com has learned that today in Chicago, WWE officials have agreed on the immediate release of Joey Mercury.

Last year's WM had tons of build up:

Show/Kane vs. Carlito & Masters had good build-up..especially wiht the tension between the latter two
-Edge vs. Foley speaks for it self
-Boogeyman vs. Booker T culminated a long feud
-Trish vs. Mickie-was the best thing going storyline wise
-Mark Henry vs. Taker had good build-up
-HBK vs. Vince was built up for over 4 months
-Candince and Torrie had the same playboy build-up that Ashley and Melina have this year
-And of course the title matches had build-up..both of which were booked better than this year's title matches.

Show/Kane vs. Carlito & Masters had good build-up..especially wiht the tension between the latter two-No, it really didn't. There was no tension between Carlito/Masters, it was Carlito acting like a dick towards Masters because he sucks. You could of thrown them up against Vicsera and Val Venis or Cade and Murdoch and it would of been the same thing.
-Edge vs. Foley speaks for it self-True.
-Boogeyman vs. Booker T culminated a long feud-That started right after the Rumble, yet you complain about feuds starting after the RR this year.
-Trish vs. Mickie-was the best thing going storyline wise-True.
-Mark Henry vs. Taker had good build-up-Not really. Started after No Way Out, did absolutely nothing.
-HBK vs. Vince was built up for over 4 months-And everyone complained about it last year.
-Candince and Torrie had the same playboy build-up that Ashley and Melina have this year-True, no one cares about both of them.
-And of course the title matches had build-up..both of which were booked better than this year's title matches.-You mean one watch that was exploitation central and the other built on HHH "I'm better than you because I am The Game" 20 minute promos that no one liked?

Have you looked at last year's threads? We all said it was the worst build up in history. And it still ended up being a good show. Vince won't allow WM to be bad now, he won't let it lose its aura.

-First off I didn't complain about feuds starting after Royal Rumble. I said it took too long for Cena vs. HBK to get underway, and it still really hasn't a week before rumble.

Eitherway the point is that last year's mania had 8 matches all that recieved at very least a somewhat proper build-up. This year's Mania has 6 matches booked right now, with MVP vs. Benoit and Kane vs. Khali being totally tacked on as filler(Taker vs. Henry had a 6 week build-up from NWO to WM which is longer than either of those feuds). And I would barely call HBK vs. Cena a build-up as they JUST started to create even the slightest bit of tension and dislike between the two only 2 weeks ago. The MiTB guys for the most part have either just been putting over guys in the big 3 matches or doing other random shit not related to the actual MiTB match. Hell, I was expecting WWE to atleast have a four on four match between the MITB guys, but they've done little aside from Punk vs Kennedy which got 5 minutes of time and Kennedy vs. Matt which happens every other week.

Very little chance of WM being good as a whole. There will be a few ZOMG! Spots in the MITB match, and a big heel turn in one of the mainevents that will have people buzzing in the short term but thats about it. HBK vs. Cena should be a decent match considering HBK can carry a turd to a good match and Cena has improved considerably over the past 6 months, but Taker and Batista will be ass, Benoit vs. MVP will be ass, and Kane vs. Khali will make Goldberg vs. Lesnar looking like Hart vs. Hart from WM 10.

I respectfully disagree with just about everything you have written. This WM build-up isn't too much different than any other year, IMO. Every single year on this board people whine and complain saying WM is going to suck, and then afterwards everyone eats crow saying it was a fun show. The only matches that ever get big time promotion are the main and semi-main events as thare are selling the PPV. Even if it is WM, a bunch of mid-card matches aren't going to sell crap. I have liked the Cena/HBK build. But that is just me.

One thing I do want to point out is the fact you talk about MITB peeps getting no time together, but then you dismiss the time they have together as worth nothing. Can't have it both ways.

Hell, he didn't even get ny well wishes.. he must have REALLY pissed someone off to get cut RIGHT BEFORE Mania.

He worked the Canton house show on Sturday night. What the hell happened?

It looks like Cena just watched the Rock's promo's 5 minutes before he did this one right now

DRINK! Keep drinkin'! Keep drinkin I WANT you to die! You smoke too?! Keep smokin'! Drink up, England... I WANT your liver to fail. Smoke up England, I WANT you to die. And here, speaking of death, right here tonight in that very ring - GET A SHOT OF THE RING - tonight, just like I did in America I'm gonna' DOMINATE you, Raven.

Had to be something to do with the wellness policy, I guess.

My point is that usually we have around 8 matches that all get build-up. This year we have 3 matches that have recieved consistent buildup, 2 that are tacked on, and MitB which btw just had the best segment of any of the matches.

I wasn't glowing about last year's WM outside of a few spots in MITB, Edge vs. Foley, and Micke vs. Trish.

How very odd, they usually get fired during the actual weekend.

This has "wellness" written all over it.

Anyway, this has been the best Raw in a loooooooooooooooong time! I had a feeling that Punk would show up tonight so while watching 24 I was checking wrestlezone's play by play.. Missed the match but caught The Cutting Edge...amazing reaction for my boy Punk!

That was pretty good for a six minute tag match. I didn't think they'd be able to fit in all they needed to with so little time. It was fun seeing them all speed it up a notch to get everything done. Too bad the superkick came off pretty flat. That's what they took two months to set up?

Oh, and Shawn looks like he's been up on the roof with Kramer sunbathing in butter.

We'll have to all give our match outcome predictions after Smackdown. I was a solid 3 for 10 or so last year.

I kind of missed the face, and the kicking, and the into it…

But anyway’s

I don't get what having Umaga squash Lashley did to help buyrates. Granted, he had to go through like 4-5 shitty lowcard guys and he got hit once or twice, but does that count as "being beaten down" before Umaga ever got there?

The highlight of RAW this fine night was obvious and clear - the brief footage of (/v\) on 4/1/90.

Because Lashley is going to win at WM and they're trying to build suspense. Lashley will be the first guy to destroy Umaga and Pin him.. If you recall Cena beat him with a quick roll up at NYR and then used a weapon to strangle him in the last man standing match at the Rumble. Lashley will put him out clean and pin him.

Lashley's gonna win after Eugene interferes, watch. :p

They really need to stop the damned Eugene character.
McMahon has a severe talent for think the stupidest crap is funny and then dragging it out.
Let Eugene be hit on the head or something and become someone else.
The bald with beard look actually works for hit and I can not believe that Dinsomore is still doing it and that McMahon thinks the fans like it.
And I can not believe that they are bringing back Mark freaking Henry to feud with Kane.
Umanga, Khali, Mable, Mark Henry....wtf.
As far as Mercury it looks like he was canned because of the "wellness policy"

The shitty match segment, then the Edge talkshow thing. I know some indie ****wad is just gonna go "WWE don't let punk wrassle HIS way", but he's really not that impressive to me.
