If it's as high a quality as X-2 was, then I'll definitely buy it. I was shocked at how fun X-2 ended up being. I went in expecting typical rip-off fluff but it ended up being more enjoyable than its predecessor haha.

I'm pretty sure he was one of the main composers of the Final Fantasy X OST, alongside Uematsu & co. Not too sure of what else he has done.

I certainly hope so. And I hope that the claw isn't gonna stay unused. I can't imagine they're going to ignore those aspects of Vincent.

Dirge being the operative word.

Time for Square to shut up shop. They've become increasingly more and more irrelevant as time goes by.... I was never a FF fan, but Secret of Mana and Parasite Eve games are some of my all time faves, just a shame they appear to have forgotten that they used to make games that didn't have Final & Fantasy in the title. :(

Yeah, Square is completely irrelevant these days. Where's the roll-eyes icon, anyway?

Who cares what the title of the game is if it's good.

He's done Unlimited Saga, Saga Frontier 2 and some tracks on FFX, Gun Hazard, Tobal ect.

Unilimited SaGa has one of the greatest soundtracks ever. SaGa Frontier two was very memorable also, all 3or 4 tracks of it.

Square only made one of those.
Um, Drakenguard was actually a mutual project. Enix started the game but staff from both sides ended up doing most of it.

Regardless, Square has made a decent number of other games, they've just been taking it slow due to the merger and whatnot. This will go down as a bad generation for them I'm sure, but the next year or two will be much better than the first 4 have been.

Even last generation Square only really left the FF first model after several multi-million selling iterations of it. They haven't gotten on that kind of roll this generation, largely thanks to FF11's being online. Hopefully next generation they'll change that.

These screens look so much better than the initial batch. Not that I wasn't planning on buying this, but now I'm much more excited about it.

Other non FF Square/Enix games, some not released yet:
Ambrosia Odyssey
Front Mission Online
Hanjuka Eiyuu Tai 3D
Hanjuka Eiyuu DS
Kingdom Hearts (not really a FF game..)
Kingdom Hearts II
Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memory
Radiata Story
Romancing Saga - Minstrel Song
Code age (!!)
New Mana DS
Fullmetal Alchemist

?? It was made by an outside developer (Cavia) and supervised by Enix before the merger and by Square Enix PDD10 (i.e. the former Enix) after the merger. There were some former Square staff involved with development, which may be what's confusing you.

You've also got it backwards: there was no "FF first model" until 1999 or so when sales of other games began declining. Before then they could still sell a million copies of a Parasite Eve or Xenogears, and in the SNES days before FF achieved great popularity worldwide its sales were only a couple times those of SaGa and Seiken Densetsu, their two other major franchises. Consequently FF wasn't given so much priority.

Did Cavia actually make anything before Drakengard? It seems the studio was established way back before the PS2 even launched, but I don't remember anything else they made.

Why does everyone always say that? Are theirr computers supposed to explode? I never had any problems on 56k; it sounds almost patronising.
Yes it's all in the name of patronising. I added it simply because it's 10 images and constantly browse other stuff while lurking in GAF and it loads all images in about 1-2 mins.
