You realize mocking someone who can't realistically afford gaming anymore is just going to make people frustrated with you and perhaps turn them off more, right? I sure hope so.Sega fanboys are so delusional. Sega Saturn was $400 at launch, which is close to $1000 in today's money factoring inflation. 32X was $300+ in today's cash. Sega CD was $600+ in today's cash. Can go on and on.
But yes OP, please go on about Sega some more.
Majority of people that buy consoles, aside from price is also ease of use, plug and play. You have to have some sort of knowledge to build and setup a PC properly. This is why i think, despite not having high/high end specs, the Steam machine will be incredibly important. It's not worth it, you're better off building a PC. Even if it costs more upfront, you can use it for a lot more than just gaming, games are cheaper, you don't have to pay for online play, and you get access to tons of accessories, emulators, and other options.
My issue with pc gaming today is to really hang you need top end gpus and after I spent close to 2k on my 4090 fe I realized I wasn't enjoying pc gaming like I used to, plus they don't optimize as good anymore it seems.Majority of people that buy consoles, aside from price is also ease of use, plug and play. If they charge you 1000 dollars for subsidized consoles I'd like to think you guys deserve Nvidia tech but what do I know.

But I've been doing the whole pc scene for 30 years now, it's gotten less fun every year. At that point where consoles closed the gap enough to where it's just so much closer it's doable.
I just don't give a crap anymore about modding etc so it's just an easy choice for me and I'm pretty happy with that.
If you enjoy games as a whole and can afford the hobby. You probably have all platforms of games you want to play. My 9800x3D / 5090 has been unused for some time. Switch 2 and Ps5 Pro have been taking most of my game time. But absolutely enjoy all 3 platforms. My issue with pc gaming today is to really hang you need top end gpus and after I spent close to 2k on my 4090 fe I realized I wasn't enjoying pc gaming like I used too, plus they don't optimize as good anymore it seems.

Sure... the xbox one x version trough BC.Going to be a great debate if its a console or PC
Will it play MLB The Show?
Yup
Does MLB The Show have a PC version?
Nope
Perhaps, regardless I don't think it's anywhere near as accessible as it used to be you used to get way more bang/performance for your buckIf it's Nvidia tech it'd be $2000.
No you don't and I've been gaming on the PC since the 90's as well. You just need to have the high end if you expect to max out everything.. I've been playing at 4k since 2014 (Asus PB287Q) on the PC and yea I had high end hardware to do it (AMD 290X at the time). However over the years 4k is much more attainable and 1080p-1440p? Easy these days for a majority of hardware.
I'm on a vanilla 9070 now coming from a 6900XT and I've had no problem with 4k because I'm willing to adjust visual settings (which old me would have hated). That and to be quite frank I find most of the UE slop unoptimized games to be absolutely awful anyways.

I buy it all for sure I just find that I love platinums so it's been my choice as of late and eats up most of my time, my switch 2 and pc just take a back seat... Sorta how I been rolling these days. But Im good with it.If you enjoy games as a whole and can afford the hobby. You probably have all platforms of games you want to play. My 9800x3D / 5090 has been unused for some time. Now, the inflation thing which I hear all the time, is a ridiculous argument; cost of living has gone up substantially more than the average person's salary.
Follow me here. If a console was $400 then and is a lot more now, but cost of living has gone up substantially faster than salaries have, then their purchasing power has likely gone significantly DOWN since the Saturn years, and that's not even counting new costs and financial responsibilities later in life.
Inflation is a non-starter argument because Cost of Living and Average Salaries are nowhere near inflation. Things are WORSE, not better. So the vast majority isn't capable of saying "oh yeah, inflation, I'll buy it!"
Sure... the xbox one x version trough BC.
It will play the next gen version of MLB ? Only if comes to pc ...

Ask Target that question. Is boycotting ever worked?
I'm out guys With rumors that the new Xbox might cost $1000 or more, I'm out. I work and pay for fun, but I can't tolerate electronics at that price.
I hope any company that wants to challenge AMD's console monopoly today, and make a console for up to $499 and $599 (I only compared them for boycott purposes), will succeed.
SEGA, where are you?
If anyone from the marketing or creative department reads this message, know that I'm not alone; I'm out of the $1000 console market.
Participate, let's make a boycott list, let's make a difference.
Never say never. Sega patented an anti-drift controller in 2024, so why would a software company do that ? And they've been getting closer to Nvidia, and Nvidia has a joint venture with Intel, and Intel was rejected by Sony in the PS6 project.I'd pay $2000 for a Dreamcast 2 though![]()
Perhaps, regardless I don't think it's anywhere near as accessible as it used to be you used to get way more bang/performance for your buck
I personally always buy top end gpus when they dropped, and I enjoyed it but 2k for a 4090 finally just felt lame
1. I read it as wishful thinking and frustration. Your choice of words read as mocking even if that wasn't the intent. Two things:
1. I'm not mocking someone's inability to afford something, I'm mocking the premise of wanting Sega to come to the rescue when they were nickel and diming on hardware back in the 90s. It's part of why the brand died, marketing insanely expensive attachments only to abandon them quickly. In the span of 10 years, Sega released the Genesis, Sega CD, 32X, Saturn, and Dreamcast. That's a lot of money just as a starting point. Which leads me to...
2. Building off that, almost every game that released from Sega back in the 90s cost $60, or $120+ in today's money. And these were primarily smaller scale games that were quick to beat. Phantasy Star 4 debuted for an actual $100 back then, over $200 in today's cash. Where is Sega, indeed.
If you can't afford something, no problem. If someone wants to boycott paying high prices for something, go for it. I practice this myself all the time. I buy movies when they're discounted, not at full price (like Zootopia 2 which I paid $10 for yesterday). I buy my clothes at Goodwill. But OP consistently brings up Sega in threads, making them out to be some kind of lost savior that we need back in the hardware industry when their departure happened entirely because of ripping off their customers via expensive hardware!
Apparently having the Iphone argument is a big nono here... go figure.we have 2000$ phone and 5000$ GPU.
Cry for a 1000$ console is stupid
That are mostly on a payment plan.
I used to have one of this, it is actually quite fun to play withFound a cheap alternative

If something were going on, my guess would be that they would use an Nvidia GPU and an Intel CPU; think of it as a next-generation Switch 2. Nintendo Switch 2 is certainly sold at cost price; Sega can make a better one, without a screen, and sell it for the same price, maybe a few dollars more. The total cost of producing and marketing a console isn't very expensive; the only truly difficult task is attracting consumers. Console consumers are tribal and don't usually abandon an established brand in favor of a new competitor.OP who do you expect SEGA to buy GPUs from? MS and Sony are probably going to run butt clenching margins next gen. It's the last console anyone is going to get with chips inside the box anyways. Might as well soak it up.
we have 2000$ phone with people that change it YEARLY.
We have 5000$ GPU which is exactly the same since 2020 with just more software and more AI garbage.
Cry for a 1000$ console that last 7-8 years min is stupid
And only rich fucks had it. I knew no one. It was a myth system. At least I had a tg16 which was also no one but me had but that was $99.Imagine how badly people today would've been traumatized by a neo geo in the 90s and 3DO which was a pretty 750 bucks back in 1993
