12h Skyrim Marathron on Giant Bomb 11.10.11 (hosted by Greg Kasavin)

I had to quit the Morrowind stream once they decided to do the main quest at level 2 and turned down the difficulty slider to real easy.

How long have they been playing the older games for? Fuck. I missed it. It's not premium is it? I'm a member but want to grab it off j.tv right away.

They've been going since about midnight. Whole stream is free for everyone.

I will not watch anything related to skyrim on interwebs, those videos somewhat ruined Uncharted for me..
If you're comparing it to the Quick Look, Greg is coming in fresh and you already know exactly what section he's covering, not much risk there.

Oh man, I really missed Greg Kasavin since he was one of the first to leave Gamespot back in the days. Glad to see he is back for a while to do some cool gaming with the guys at Giantbomb. :D

Are people really going to watch someone they don't know play a game for 12 hours?

yes, and then I will rewatch the entire thing immediately afterward for another 12 hours.

the beauty of the 12 hour stream is that you can jump in and out of it during the day, if you're not busy. you don't need to watch the whole thing - I certainly won't be seeing the whole thing

plus the incredible length of the stream gets attention and the curiosity factor of how Greg will be behaving after 12 hours straight makes it more likely you'll tune in for a bit.

Yeah, no need to watch it straight. I'll just be catching random clips of it throughout the day.

Greg is awesome and I won't have my copy until noon tomorrow so this will help tide me over.

^^^ this

It's ridiculous to watch this if you are planning on playing the game. Why ruin it ?
Well for some its not ruining it, i have found over the years that being the youngest of brothers i spent the majority of "gaming" time watching other people play games and naturally this is how i enjoy my gaming time. I know others like this too and they tend to be the youngest or middle children in the family.

Anyway point being that some people achievement whore, some people create crazy rules to play games and others enjoy watching :D

I'm at work (UK).

Will the pre-show be archived?

Hopefully I have my game waiting there for when I get home (I doubt it), otherwise I won't be able to resist watching the marathon.

hmm all i can see now on the stream is the show banner, no audio or video

edit: oh it says we will return shortly. what happened?

can anyone give me an eta in hours till this starts?

4 hours and 10 minutes I think. but they are playing older scrolls games live until then afaik...

much obliged

They're switching over to Oblivion - hence the place holder whilst they take a short break to archive the Morrowind footage off.

Oblivion Marathon barely spoiled shit simply because of how huge it is and that he did a lot of side stuff. But still it is obviously a spoiler for those wanting it fresh.

In an ES game, I would consider a "spoiler" to be something relating to the free exploration of the world, because the story is pretty much meaningless.

i'm kind of curious about the way Jeff keeps saying something along the lines of "so you can watch it and make a decision for yourself before you go out and buy it".

maybe its just me but that sounds ominous, especially given that he seemed to be making a point of saying and said it like 3 times...

Like I said before I will not watch Skyrim but ``Dave tries to marry a cat in the world of Morrowind`` might get a look hehe...

Wait, those are the highlights?

I don't dislike Kasavin, but I can think of 50 different people I'd rather see playing through a game early.
50? Really? I don't know 50 gaming journalists or people involved in games, let alone ones who'd enjoy SKyrim and could articulate the experience.

Fair enough if you do though. Seems a good choice to me.

I wish Dave would feature more in Giantbomb's video material. Probably my favourite guy on the site.

I said neither. Just people. Regular gamers. Anyone who buys Skyrim day 1.

Kasavin is a bore.

So ehm, I'm from PAL land. What time would that be that the Skyrim thing is going to start?

The cool thing with the Coming Up window on GB's homepage is that the times on display are based on your timezone. It's magic.

Ok, thanks. A bit silly of me, but I thought it was American time zone time. I'm from Holland, and to be honest, I always get lost with these different time zones. I never remember them correctly.

He shows up on Giant Bomb every now and then, mostly on Thursday Night Throwdowns though I think.
