We've JUST gotten off the phone with Warner Home Video, and they confirm that the Adam West version of the Batman TV show IS indeed coming to DVD - FINALLY! - sometime in 2014.

I'm surprised to see they finally got all the rights settled to finally release the show on DVD. I haven't seen it since I was little. I wonder how it holds up today.

Update
There's going to be a complete series boxset released later this year.

Details are still to come on the release but for now WB has revealed the entire series will be sold in a complete box set later this year.

The legal nightmare that is Batman '66's rights appears to finally be resolved.

Just a half hour ago, Conan O'Brien tweeted some VERY hot news. Check it out:

Wait, WHAT? YES! We've JUST gotten off the phone with Warner Home Video, and they confirm that the Adam West version of the Batman TV show IS indeed coming to DVD - FINALLY! - sometime in 2014. They have no other info for us at this moment in time, but stay tuned of course and we'll update you as further developments occur!

There's a local station that runs hd remasters of the original show here. It's the french dub but still.I loved that show when it was in endless reruns back in the '80.

i am literally wetting myself in excitement

i hope they release the whole series in one set and don't piece meal it by seasons

i wonder if adam west and burt ward will do commentary tracks like they did for the movie

i'm so fucking in though

i grew up on this via repeats while batman:tas was still running, and it was the weirdest shit watching the same characters in totally different lights separated by 30 something years

They are.

Now, if only ABC would release The Wonder Years, that would have two of the most wanted shows out on DVD.

Wonder Years is streaming on Netflix, but I think almost all of the music has been replaced with gimpy fake versions which negates almost the entire value of the original show. You basically have to pirate it from old VHS copies, kinda like the original run of Daria.

I hope when they say "complete" that this means all of the celeb window cameos will be in there.

Edit: Also, where the hell is my 1976 Battle of the Network Stars DVD release???

This is the greatest news i have heard in a long while.

Growing up i was a HUGE Batman fan and used to watch this with my dad all the time and it's a goddamn shame it took this long. The only DVD news that could ever top this is if WB got off their fucking asses and released seasons 3-6 of Third Watch. Assholes release the first 2 seasons and that's it. Sons of bitches.

Buying it as soon as it becomes available, but if you get the network MeTV they air episodes every weekday and on Saturdays before Wonder Woman.

They'll release a DVD version based off of the current syndication masters and then a remastered version on BD a few years later, just watch.

I don't think they'll use the syndication versions for the release. I'm sure they're smarter than that. There's a high demand for the Batman TV series. They won't want to risk making people mad by putting out a bad product.
