Kill: Captain Planet
Kill: Megaman
Save: Aaahh! Real Monsters

I loved Captain Planet as a kid. I still do. But it wasn't a good show. I appreciate what it set out to accomplish, but as a cartoon it is in my opinion one of the biggest wastes of potential greatness I have ever seen. The concept is brilliant and what we could have had if it were put in the hands of people wanting to write a quality show first and send a message second makes me weep at what we got.

A! RM, on the other hand is that studio playing to its strengths. Their character design was never pretty, so they make a universe where the goal is to be grotesque. It has strong scenario writing and the characters are interesting and have some surprising depth. It's Monsters Inc and Harry Potter before either of those things existed.

As big a waste of potential as Captain Planet was, Megaman was worse. As both The Megas AND The Protomen have demonstrated, the Megaman mythos is a wellspring of inspiration, and Ruby-Spears instead made the most generic dreck possible. This should absolutely not survive longer than any other show still left and had I realized earlier it was on the list, Mr. Bogus would still be around.

Kill : The Mask

Kill : The Mask

Save : Freakazoid

I still don't know what the hell The Mask is, so it must go.

It was an animated version of the Jim Carrey film. It lasted a few seasons.

Kill: Cow and Chicken
Kill: Spider-Man
Save: Ren and Stimpy

Spider-Man had a reoccurring problem with recapping and flashing back more than advancing episodic stories, and the action itself was weak. The computer animation bits have aged terribly, too, and the other super hero shows on this list outclass it top to bottom.

Ren and Stimpy makes me laugh too hard, to this day, and celebrated animation for the sake of animation. Some of Ren's lines are still hysterical.

I do actually need a better way of solving ties than the one I used for the last round. Do you guys have any suggestions?

1. If any of the tied ones had a save vote, they won't be eliminated.

2. If they both/all had saves, the one with the fewest saves is eliminated.

3. If they're tied for saves, then it is a tie breaker vote. The one eliminated is the first one the next post picks.

Announcement post - Show X is eliminated, show Y and show Z are tied.

Next post - Kill: Show A, Kill: Show B, Save: Show C, Tie Breaker: Show Z

Show Z is now the eliminated show.

Ah OK. So if we use the previous rounds example, The very next person to say the show as their tiebreaker would in effect eliminate the show. That should work. Thanks.

Kill : Ahh! Real Monsters
Kill : Rugrats
Save : Hey! Arnold

Rugrats and Ahh! Real Monsters have some of the worst voices for their characters ever. just sayin'

Save The Tick
It has a villain that had a chair for a head. Not only that he was also a Chippendale.
His first act was to simply write his name on the moon. THAT was his evil scheme and if I remember correctly he started the machine but only got the first few letters on and every episode later showed the moon with those letters.

This show was the closest a kid could have got to recreational drugs. And I loved it.

2 X Kill Captain Planet
Look, the guy was just an irritating douche. Every episode was an excuse for the 5 kids to bungle into some form of pollution only to summon CP to bring about the end of the show.

So seeing CP would be the highlight, yes? No, what follows the the 5 most tedious minutes of the show as we listen to a goody two-shoes try to make one-liners and then it ends.

I like Don Cheadle. I don't think I could vote the guy off.

kill: Megaman
kill: The Mask

They are both completely unwatchable. The Mask is probably the worst cartoon ever

I still don't know what the hell The Mask is, so it must go.

Kill: The Mask
Kill: Kablam
Save: Freakazoid

The Mask and Kablam are ass. Probably too early for a vote to save Freakazoid, but whatevs.

Kill: Pokemon loved it as a kid, but going back to it I realise that it is terrible

Kill: Mega man, never watched it, but sounds terrible

Save: Ed, Edd, and Eddy. Can't believe that this show almost got voted off last round. There are far worse shows on this list

Kill: Pokemon loved it as a kid, but going back to it I realse that it is terrible

I had the same realization when I tried to rewatch the first season of Digimon. Monster Rancher probably didn't hold up much better either

not sure why there are anime shows on the list though

I am a pacifist, so I choose only to save.

Save: Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog

I absolutely loved renting backlog episodes of these on VHS when I was a kid. Right in the childhood, man.

Save: Superman TAS. Only watched it recently and it had a lot of boring early episodes, but plenty of fantastic ones towards the end as well.

Kill: Sailor Moon. I hated it as a kid.
Kill: Ed, Edd and Eddy. I don't remember it much but I think it was supposed to be funny. I never laughed.

Kill: SWAT Kats (I don't really remember it so it just seems like the most logical first vote)
Kill: SWAT Kats
Save: Ed, Edd, and Eddy (I show about a group of weirdos doing weird stuff just to obtain jawbreakers is top-tier)

I can't believe people dislike CatDog so much, I had no idea.I thought it was a solid amount of strange and silly.

KILL: Samurai Pizza Cats
KILL: Samurai Pizza Cats
SAVE: Sailor Moon (which samurai shit cats replaced when I was sick in the hospital)

Kill: Daria- cartoon about teenage girl angst, no thanks.
Kill: Samurai Pizza Cats- Never heard of it, terrible name.

Save: Rugrats. Why are people voting for this? WHY?!

Kill: Captain Planet
Kill: Cow and Chicken
Save: Ed Edd n Eddy

Captain Planet to me is that weird-ass show on early in the morning that kind of sucked but had enough colors and sort-of action to hold my attention as a child. unfortunately for it, i watched a couple episodes not that long ago and so fuck Captain Planet. Cow and Chicken remains unfunny and something to avoid.

Ed Edd n Eddy is a damn classic, even if it's not Courage or Dexter. there are so many more shows that need to go out before this one.

DBZ, Sailor Moon, and Pokemon? Aren't those considered anime, not cartoons. I know anime is considered Japanese cartoons, but still.

Regardless.

Kill: Ren and Stimpy - never really thought it was funny
Kill: Swamp Thing - Never saw it
Save: Spongebob Squarepants - I'm a big fan of the early Spongebob

Kill: The Wild Thornberrys
Kill: The Wild Thornberrys

The art style and character design were hideous.

Save: Freakazoid

Hilarious. All the best parts of Anamaniacs with a superhero twist.

Kill: SWAT Kats (I don't really remember it so it just seems like the most logical first vote)

It was a combination of things. Nick was coming off a line of solid Nicktoon after Nicktoon and they hyped this and Angry Beavers up to be a continuation of the solidness. Something was bound to give and unfortunately it was CatDog. It's kinda like what brave is to Pixar.

Kill: Captain Planet: The show isn't as bad as people make it seem, but it's not on the same level as a lot of whats on that list.

Kill: The Mask: Ace Ventura the animated series was much better, it's also awkward that Rob Paulson does so many voices for the show. I like his VO but that was a bit much.

Save: Swat Kats: Planned for a third season (views were high and toys were selling), but because angry parents wanted less violence in cartoons (this show and Mighty Max were known for actually KILLING innocent people) this show had to go. It was an amazing action series that I say needs a come back.

Quick note for OP: Batman Beyond and Weekenders were 2000 cartoons.

Swat Kats is an awful show that is just trying to rip off TMNT's "attitude". Good music be damned.

Never understood this. Swat Kats was nothing like TMNT, in attitude or otherwise. The show stood on it's own and the two main characters were way more three dimensional than the turtles (and I loved the turtles). The villains and stories were much better as well. The only thing I could think of that tries to use that "attitude" is it's subtitle "the radical squadron", which is could really done without.

Quick note for OP: Batman Beyond and Weekenders were 2000 cartoons.

Batman Beyond premiered in January of 1999. a ton of shows on this list are probably better known as early 2000s shows that are just in on the technicality of starting in the very late 90s, but it's not a big deal.

Or better yet instead of giving all that power to one vote that would know they are the deciding vote, keep the first two new rules but replace the third with the removal of both shows. That'd speed things up too.

kill •Ed, Edd, and Eddy - stupid show that's not funny. its like beavis and butthead without the edginess... or the humor.

kill •Biker Mice From Mars - thought it was stupid even as a kid. never watched it because the commercials painted it as just another crap show that was part of the anthropormorphic animals with attittude craze. for other crap examples see: street sharks

save: Freakazoid - funny hero show. it was basically like Batman meets Animaniacs.

Glad to see others rally against ed edd and eddy. also i wont shed too many tears for catdog going down.

Had no idea

Same votes as round 1

Kill: The Adventures of Don Coyote and Sancho Panda
Kill: Swamp Thing
Save: Hey Arnold!

the first one seems like some sort of smelly european thing and the second one has like literally the worst theme song ever

other cartoons that should be on here though are The Critic and Duckman and Dr. Katz and Space Ghost: Coast to Coast and Cartoon Planet and maybe the first few seasons of King of the Hill

like some of those are awesome as shit

That works too. Though it may be too fast if there are many more 3 way ties.

There was time in the last topic to nominate cartoons in the last topic. Can't reboot every time someone thinks of one that's missing.

Anime that is/was broadcast in prime time spots on American television. Sure there were other good anime that came out of the 90s, but it was these shows that were able to breach the American market in the 90s as well as being released in the 90s. Most other anime that had slots on American television were from the 80s or earlier.

Get a chance to give A!RM another watch?

Kill:The Mask-I don't I need to explain it should of been aborted.
Kill:Ed, Edd, and Eddy -Well it wasn't funny, smart or original a dumbed down 3 stooges.
Save:Johnny Bravo-Funny,self aware and cool TZ and other classic sci-fi references.
