kill: freakazoid
save: hey arnold

freakazoid was very quotable, but it seems its time has come to an end. hey arnold is still good to this day.

I kept coming back to this thread with the intention writing the comment I made and I actually wrote it a few times and got distracted. Superman was a decent show, but I liked Batman more. I honestly don't remember an ending for the Batman cartoon and I only remember a couple stories that lasted more than one episode. I also remember trying to watch Superman on numerous occasions and I just couldn't do it, where the Batman cartoon would just suck me in.

Batman was definitely the better show, no disagreement here. My point is that Superman, unlike a lot of shows, actually had a plot arc that spanned across the entire show.

Even if it doesn't make it this round, you should watch the "key" episodes and check out the two part finale. It's really powerful stuff, and Superman's final scene with Lois deserves some ovation.

Those are all I've seen since childhood and I have a sneaking suspicion that they're the reason the show is even still on this list.

that and probably the movie, which isn't that bad.

oh and the baby pucky episodes.

i still like tiny toons more than animaniacs.

Kill: TMNT - The nostalgia goggles! They do nothing!!
Kill: TMNT - I liked Uncle Phil more in Captain Simeon & The Spaaaaace Monkeeeys
Reboot: My fall back show once SWAT Kats got eliminated. So many pop culture references that I didn't get until I had pop culture references explained to me later on in life. Season 2 Dot Matrix's chest upgrade. Glitch Bob. Enzo's Birthday Guitar Battle. Hexidecimal's ability to frighten the shit out of me in broad daylight. And there's a special place in hell for Tony Jay haters.

Anyways!

Scattershot votes every-fucking-where!

Superman - 10 Kills and 11 Saves

Wow. That says a lot- the show wound up with a positive score!

Now that was a dramatic round. Good to see Pinky & The Brain get sensibly cut, but now we're really getting into the nitty gritty. There's a lot of Cartoon Network remaining... maybe it's time to mine that for this round? I'm almost afraid to suggest the next kill... but I'm leaning towards a few...

Kill: Johnny Bravo
Kill: Johnny Bravo
Save: Reboot

I went back and forth a lot, but some strong cases were made to not kill Reboot. I might remember Beast Wars better, but Reboot seems like a stronger show. I also think TMNT is ready to retire, but Johnny Bravo shouldn't outlast something like TMNT. Johnny was funny enough, but it just doesn't have the horsepower to keep trucking along, I think.

We're at about the top 20, and I think anything left is considered "honored."

Kill : Beast Wars
Kill : Beast Wars
Save : Courage the Cowardly Dog

I've been waiting for these eliminations for some time now. >:]
I'd really like to be able to save Superman if need be, but jesus christ at the mofos constantly trying to eliminate Arnold!

EDIT:
How long do you guys intend to have Reboot last? There are some actual iconic TV shows on this list, surly you don't expect top 10, let alone top 15.
KEEP TRYING TO PROLONG THE INEVITABLE

Kill: Hey Arnold
Kill: TMNT

Save: Reboot

I'd like to Reboot go a while longer, although do we count post apocalypse Reboot or pre-apocalypse. Enzo having his "attitude" makeover killed some of the fun of the show. I still think it was a bold move though.

The Adder didn't snipe any shows last round. That's disappointing.

Not sure what to vote for yet. Though I'm probably going to end up saving Reboot.

Kill : Reboot
Kill : Beast Wars
Save : TBA

I've been waiting for these eliminations for some time now. >:]

Kill: ReBoot
Kill: Beast Wars
Save: TBA

Kill: ReBoot
Kill: Beast Wars

Neither hold up, and I'll go with the flow for now....

Save: Supes
Well shit, 2 of my top 20 eliminated in one round.
Kill:Reboot
Kill:Beast Wars
Save:Superman The Animated Series.

If we had to cut one... which one do you think is worse and why? I'm in between the two, but have no hard feelings either way.

Not sure what to vote for yet.

Yeah, we're at that point. I have a show or two I want to suggest but I fear the reaction I'll get. People need to start making the case for the pecking order!

Darkwing Duck?

Reboot. It's the only show left that I have never watched. Going back and watching- trying to watch an episode was a mistake, it didn't age well. And while I could almost say the same thing for Beast Wars, I do have more of a soft spot for Transformers as a whole. Looking back though, I might have a bias against computer animated tv shows. Just never clicked with them.

I thought both Beast Wars and Reboot were rather mediocre even at the time, now imagine how I feel about them now. Furthermore, I'm going to focus on taking both of these out next. Beast Wars was by far the worst of the two, so it's gotta go first. Those bare and lifeless landscapes; those uninspired characters and stories... BEGONE!

Kill: Beast Wars
Kill: Beast Wars

Save: Beavis and Butthead

i'll toss Hey Arnold a save if it needs it, but i think Superman is gonna get priority there.

We have some good men in this thread.

Should I join the collective and kick Reboot & Beast Wars simultaneously? If they both go, it's like the thread came to a draw and no hard core fans need feel blown off!

i'd say go with killing both, but if you wanna stick with trying to squash TMNT then make the other kill ReBoot. if nothing else, Beast Wars left a bigger impact

I'm glad Reboot made it this far at least, since I enjoyed the story more than most of the shows that got eliminated already on this list. Beast Wars the only thing I could remember about it were the toys.

I trust way to many of the guys voting this way: I'm changing to the Reboot/Beast Wars kill and keeping my save TBA for whichever solid show needs it next.

And Grunt? I feel for you. Having a fave show axed stinks, but two in one round? Ouch. Sorry man. If it helps, the Daria kill got a few good posters to jump to attention and weed out some needed shows for a few rounds, so maybe the the last two kills will do the same for you.

Reboot and Beast Wars are both fairly important just because of the legacy of the CGI style they leave behind. Reboot, being a bit newer than Beast Wars, still holds up better than Beast Wars.

Kill: TMNT- Since no one else wants to kill X-Men, TMNT gets my kills. Like X-Men, the animation just doesn't hold up, and the best part of both are the openings.
Kill: TMNT
Save: ReBoot- I'm ok with Beast Wars going this round, but ReBoot does the CGI style better thanks to being a more modern show and probably had a more influential effect than Beast Wars.

Kill: X-Men- Having looked back at this recently, it just doesn't hold up as well as a lot of its peers. Plus Evolution was way better.

If this round goes the way it's looking like it will, X-Men and TMNT might be my next two to go for me. I also have a few other shows I'm thinking should get cut around the same time (namely
Darkwing Duck
and 90s South Park), but I'll go with the flow for a bit.

We've got a hive mind going here. I' won't be pressured into making decisions I disagree with. I will do my best to talk some sense into people.

It isn't about whether the show holds up. Ninja Turtles influenced a large number of shows on the list. It set the table for kick ass beat'em ups, good movies, and the first Halloween costume I remember. Ninja Turtles was the gold standard of children's action shows and the characters were likable.

Contrary to what someone just posted, Beast Wars had excellent writing and it is better than Reboot (I still like you reboot). Complaining about the animation on these shows is kind of silly. Beast Wars was one of the first fully cgi shows, of course it sucks now. There are lots of shows with poor animation that still have substance.

Johnny Bravo might need to be shown the door after X-Men and TMNT. i still don't feel good about just saying "90s South Park" since we are judging quite a few of these shows based on how they were in the 2000s (or the 80s, in the case of DuckTales).

The best part of TMNT is its opening. If TMNT looks like it's going to have more votes than X-Men, I'll probably switch to that.

I never really cared for Tiny Toons other than the movie. Wasn't a huge fan of Gargoyles either, though it was more interesting in concept than Tiny Toons. Johnny Bravo was ok, but it was always one of the cartoons that I would passively watch if there was nothing else on.

As for Darkwing Duck, it's one of the few Disney shows of that era I've never really seen. Duck Tales is cool though.

I actually agree completely with Beast Wars. I remember really liking the writing and the characters, which, yeah, were targeted for kids (imagine that!), but I think both are constantly at odds with getting killed at the expense of the other, so to speak.

As for TMNT, I agree that it was highly influential, but I think it's best aspect was its popularity. The four-member dynamic was good, but better in almost every other version of the franchise (save maybe the third movie, heh). It's not that I think it's garbage, but I just don't think it's top ten material, for me. We cool?

That opening is unreal.

Beast Wars has the best writing of any of the Transformers stuff I know of, though that isn't much. Never really was a fan of anything Transformers related. If it weren't for Beast Wars, and by extension ReBoot, we wouldn't have shows like Star Wars: The Clone Wars or Code Lyoko. I personally think that both should last another round or two but it doesn't seem like the votes are heading in that direction.

Hmm... which of the two is the weaker, would you say? Beast Wars?

X-Men, Beast Wars, Reboot, and TMNT seem like the next victims, then. Man, what a pack of shows to nix!

All this thread has shown me is that a good number of posters here have shit taste in cartoons. Voting off SWAT Kats, Reboot, and now going for the Beast Wars kill? Seriously?

Kill: TMNT
Kill: TMNT
Save: Hey Arnold

I haven't seen the old TMNT (I think it's the only show on this list that I haven't seen), so I have to vote it off. The first TMNT that I saw was the 2003 version.

I stated before why i wanted to save Hey Arnold. So I'll stick with it (especially after seeing it almost hit the top).

I do agree with this, but I don't differentiate the cartoon from the games and the movies. I can't. They are all spawn of the cartoon. (Was Spawn a 90s cartoon?) I have broken memories of actually watching ninja turtles the cartoon, but that's the case for most of the shows on the list. I do have fond memories of the movies and of the games. Whenever I hear "The Big Apple" my mind goes straight to "3 am." And then my mind is all like "prehistoric turtlesaurus."

The Turtle Bus with the ejector seats. I vaguely remember having the turtle bus.

Yep. Spawn was late 90s I think.

I would say Beast Wars is the weaker of the two, though the characterization is still very deep in the show along with its narrative. Both ReBoot and Beast Wars were made by the same studio I think, so it's only natural that ReBoot became a progression of the Beast Wars style with updates.

I have to ask.
Why in the FUCK is Johnny Bravo still on this list?
One of the most boring TV shows I've ever watched.
Terrible Terrible show.
Needs to be dropkicked off before top 20.
C'mon guys, Do the right thing.

He might have a real point here... I don't think it was that bad, but it's not stellar enough to hang with the top 20, I thinki.

Crap, do I have to change my votes again?
