1990's Cartoon Survivor (Do-Over)

Save Doug and kill two weaker 90s cartoon s:

Kill 90s South Park
Kill Darkwing Duck

Both aren't bad (they're top twenty after all) but I think they're about done.

Just remember how different South Park was. It truly was an entirely different show in the 90s.

EDIT: Okay, we're basing our kills entirely on looks? Who cares what Reboot looked like? Especially a character like Megabyte, who was voiced by Tony fucking Jay. Overlooking Reboot's visuals (which actually got better as the series continued), this show planted its flag in a time where most cartoons were out targeting demographics for the sole purpose of selling action figures and dolls. This show completely bucked the trend, opting to base its premise in the world of computers and the world wide web, which weren't well known by the masses. Instead of shying away from that fact, the writers drove full steam ahead, giving characters computer and hardware accessory names, making video games actual serious business, and rightfully mystifying the web as some uncharted territory where few had ventured. And as I've mentioned before in defense of this show, the pop culture references in it were second to none. Off the top of my head they gave nods to Aliens, Star Trek: TNG, X-Files, Star Wars, and Evil Dead. I thought GAF was all about shit like this?

Fuckers killed X-Men. I thought that would be a top 10 for sure.

Kill: Reboot - No nostalgic feeling for me.
Kill: Animaniacs - Watched this very little as a kid.

Save: Doug - Not a huge favorite of mine but I'd prefer it stay over others close to being killed.

It's a shame that Clerks TAS didn't last long. I remember watching a rerun of it and was really disappointed when I found out it only had I think 6 episodes.

The show premiered on ABC but didn't even survive 2 episodes. It had low ratings along with other problems. The show then went on Comedy Central with 4 more episodes that were shown. Then Adult Swim picked it up and ran the 6 episodes for a while.

Personally, I found it very funny. It was mostly due to me being a big fan of Kevin Smith, and his characters Jay and Silent Bob. The show had its moments, I wish it could have continued :(

I did as well. It ran for a huge chunk of the 90's and got a lot of kids hooked on comic books. It was also a huge commercial success (I've got a bunch of merch in a box somewhere in the basement) that probably led to Fox thinking X-men movies were a good idea, which led to more money (for Fox and Marvel), which led to Iron Man/Avengers/etc movies.

Justice League will get destroyed if I have anything to say about it.

Could add Family Guy and My Little Pony (for shits and giggles) to that list, AniHawk.

that was the 'goat anime'

Kill: darkening Duck
Kill: drawing duck

Autocorrect will not allow me to kill the duck super hero, but you guys know who I'm killing.

Save: DBZ

My wife is having a baby right now while I wait for them to bring me into the OR. She loves DBZ.

People are still saving Tiny Toons over Reboot?

Kill: Spongebob
Kill: Spongebob (Changed because no one is willing to vote for Tiny Toons yet)
Save: Reboot

And is anyone going to throw votes at Spongebob? Or at least try and change if they have to?

Although if Reboot survives this round I absolutely don't expect it to survive the next.

I went guns blazing at spongebob last round and got no response. I'm starting to think people will let it into the top 10 even though it had half a season in the nineties. At the same time, I've seen South Park kills justified by "it was better in the 00s" and it had multiple seasons.

I'll join in next round if I can just kill off Tiny Toons. X-men should have lasted longer than Tiny Toons.....

Kill: Duck Tales
Kill: Tiny Toons Adventures
Save: Doug

Now we're into some difficult territory. Both of my kills are decent shows that I watched growing up, but Doug is top 3 material for me(alongside Simpsons and Batman TAS), so I have to do what I can to keep him in the game.

Honestly, I'm really excited he made top 20 given the mixed reaction to the show. I think a lot of people are misinterpreting the show's understated absurdity for poor writing, but I'm also willing to accept that it's not the type of show to click with everyone the way it has with me.

Either way, I'm going to try and support it until the end.

Is this first kid for you guys? Anyway congrats! Kids are awesome. Also you don't have to be afraid, DBZ fandom skips a generation so your kid will be a-ok.

Wait... did I miss somewhere here with DBZ hate? For America that was the most original thing on TV...

I didn't see DBZ until early or mid 00s and it felt dated. The shōnen formula isn't just all that interesting. I think the very first arc was good but after that it was just rinse and repeat. I did like DB.

Dear lord yes, buy the mid 00's it was dated. And by then we had seen soooo many more shounen and other/better anime.

Wait, is that my problem here? That I'm voting on shows based on what my actual opinion in the 90s was... as in how good 90s shows were in the 90s....?

I don't think it got a single vote until yesterday or the day before and its never been in any danger. I don't want it to win, but I'm hoping for top ten.

That's how I'm voting; As if seasons made in the 00s don't exist.

It was completely unlike anything we had ever seen before in the 90s.

I know DBZ was something new and different when it first aired but as I didn't see it in the 90s, I have no nostalgia love for it. For me it's just another shonen anime among others.

Kill: Courage the Cowardly Dog
Kill: Rugrats
Save: Doug

To be honest, none of my kills and my save deserve the top spot, time to weed them out, but I'll keep Doug for shits and giggles.

Kill: Spongebob
Kill: Spongebob
Save: Doug

I love the first season of Spongebob, but seasons 2-4 were not in the 90's so they shouldn't count. So with only one season I think that Spongebob should be voted off of the island.

I'm really impressed that nobody seems to be voting Superman off. I don't remember this show getting much love... at all.

Kill: Superman
Kill: Reboot
Save: Courage

Kill: Spongebob
Kill: Spongebob
Save: Reboot

I've said multiple times that spongebob needs off this 90s island.
Reboot: Tony Jay. Groundbreaking animation. Good story. A premise that works with the artistic limitations.

Kill:Reboot
Kill:Reboot
Save:Spongebob

Same reasoning as before. I'll see how long Tiny Toons can last.

Edit: I guess I'll have to change my save to Spongebob. Too important to go out so quickly.

Kill: South Park - I think it was better in the 2000's and I consider it more of a 2000's show than a 90's
Kill: South Park

Save: Darkwing Duck. I have no clue what's going anymore, Reboot seems like it will be going and between Tiny Toons and Darkwing, I'd rather save Darkwing.

Kill: South Park - Was pretty bad back then, mostly just shock jokes without any of the meaningful commentary it has today
KIll: South Park

Save: Reboot - They say this show is top 10 material, no one knows for sure, but I intend to find out. Reboot!

Kill: Doug - This show should've died before Swat Kats. Still not sure how it's still here.
Kill: PowerPuff Girls - A good chunk of the episodes are the PPG being Mary Sues and that bugged the shit out of me. This show needs to be gone now.

Save: Darkwing Duck. Still an amazing show and would rather see it stay than Ducktales.
