Kill: Rocko
Kill: Powerpuff Girls

Powerpuff girls is not a top 5 show and needs to go. I honestly love Rocko's Modern Life, but when you get this far, it all comes down to preference and which shows you enjoy more.

Kill: Rocko
Kill: Powerpuff Girls

Same votes as last round, surprised they made it past animaniacs considering PPG wasn't even really aired in the nineties.

Save: Hey Arnold

Might as well use my save now, hope to see arnold make the top 3.

Idea for the 00s top 10, give everyone 5 saves for 10-5 that they could use all in one round, would love to see someone blow 5 saves for 10th place just to see their show make the top 9.

Oh I also still can't believe Pokemon went so early, that show and Harry Potter pretty much defined childhood for almost every kid where I live.

Kill: Hey Arnold
Kill: Rocko

How to articulate that I only watched Arnold passively. Heff, Phillip, Mrs. BigHead, you are lucky to be alive.

I'm happy with the top 5. Too bad there weren't any Disney in the top 10 though.

Kill: Hey! Arnold - Of the 5 shows. This is maybe the weakest one.
Kill: Rocko's Modern Life - I don't like to do this but another show I like better is threatened.

Kill: Power Puff Girls

At the moment this is the worst show on the list. Also I think Dexters Lab was Better.

Kill: Rocko

Love this show, but it isn't as good as Hey! Arnold

Seriously, No one wants to answer these questions? Everyone thinks that this competition was perfect as is? OK

- While I didn't mind the long life of this thread, I still felt like there was too many shows that didn't really had any chance what-so-ever and were just cannon fodder. This can be solved with rigorous suggestion thread.

- Double kill gives too much power for people out for blood.

- Lets enforce the "at least one word why you are voting something off" rule. Discourages drive by votes.

- Cash prize for first five people with most posts would be nice add on for this and future threads.

Kill: Hey Arnold!
Kill: Rocko's Modern Life

Like I said before, I sadly almost never watched Rocko back then. Hey Arnold just needs to go at this point when it's opponents are so much better than it. Making i to the top 5 is a great accomplishment, it's time to put it down.

Kill: Rocko
Kill: Hey Arnold!

Both solid shows, but not as good as the rest (although, again, probably better than Batman but no one seems to want to vote it off).

Lol.

I'm not ready to give my feedback yet. Let's wait until a champion is crowned then we can give suggestions and feedback.

Such a legit top 5. Very happy about this fellas!

I'll give you my personal Top 10:
10) Rocko's Modern Life
9) Biker Mice From Mars
8) Power Puff Girls
7) Ren & Stimpy
6) Superman Animated Series
5) Animaniacs
4) Courage the Cowardly Dog
3) The Simpsons
2) Hey Arnold
1) Batman Animated Series

There are so many shows tho...

As far as tips - I'd say that the one vote kill and limited saves should start sooner (i.e around round 20 and say 5 saves). aaaannnndddd NO CANADIAN SHOWS!
:P

Anyway -

Kill : Power Puff Girls
Kill : Rocko's Modern Life

I wish I didn't use my save last round, ah well!
These shows are both loved and adored by children of the 90s, male or female, and for good reason. Still, Hey Arnold - I love just that much more. Would love to see it make it to the top 3.

Kill : Power Puff Girls

As much as i liked the show it cant compete against Hey Arnold or the mighty Rocko

Edit : Very pleased with the results atm
will hold up a save if it is needed

Kill: PPG

The joke's over guys come on...

Seriously, No one wants to answer these questions? Everyone thinks that this competition was perfect as is? OK

Somehow do a voting thread before this thread and get a list down to a solid 20 shows and then have one elimination at a time with the same structure as this threads top ten. I'd keep the saves the same way as this thread. One every round in the top 20 and then only one through the top 10. That's about the only thing I can think to change.

Kill: Powerpuff Girls
Kill: Hey Arnold

Like I said last round, Rocko was one of my favorites, and Batman and Simpsons are most certainly the top two.

Fuck! I knew I should have used my save yesterday!
Anyway,
Kill: Hey! Arnold

I'm slowly growing to hate this show for being here so long. It was boring and needs to go.

Ya know, I'm ok with that top five.

Kill: Rocko (Same reason as last round)

Next round is really going to be hard for me.... I may not be able to put any more kills down at all.... I just can say Kill: (any of the others....)

Not a bad top ten!

I have another question for you this round now that we're so close to the end. Actually two questions. Actually several.
1. What worked in this competition? What didn't work? What was your favorite part of the contest? your least favorite if you have one? What'd you improve on for next time we do this? Let me know what you think. It'll only help more for next time.
I think survivor is a much better method than lists. Posting how people voted also worked well. Sometimes I would use saves based on voting from the previous round. What I don't think worked was the voting system. As it's been pointed out before, only 34% is needed to kill off a show. What's the solution I cannot say, but I think the process should be reevaluated. So should have been what was designated as a 90s show. My favorite part was the campaigning (successfully). Least favorite was Daria being killed off unexpectedly. To improve I would look at the examples from the above. Setting guidelines for what qualifies is important for the aughts thread. Also, limit the entries to 50. Do some preliminary voting.

2. What would've been your personal top 5? Your top 10? Maybe even top 20? List them out. What would've made it onto your list? Feel free to include shows not listed here.
My top 10 in no order:

Daria
Home Movies
TMNT
X-Men
Simpsons
Rugrats
Gargoyles
Batman Beyond
King of the Hill
Rocko's Modern Life

What I expected to be in GAF's top 10 (made when there still 38 shows):

DBZ
Batman TAS
Darkwing Duck
Ducktales
X-Men
Simpsons
TMNT
Spongebob Squarepants
Dexter's Lab
Rocko's Modern Life

5/10 lol

Kill: TBA
Kill: TBA

Since we're making our personal top 10's, here's mine.

1) King of the Hill
2) Family Guy
3) Johnny Bravo
4) Ed Edd n Eddy
5) Hey Arnold
6) Courage The Cowardly Dog
7) Dexter's Laboratory
8) Spongebob Squarepants
9) The Powerpuff Girls
10) South Park

Wish I could put Mission Hill on my list, but it came out in 1999 and only showed 2 episodes in 1999. The overall show was brilliant, especially after watching it when I got older and could understand the jokes better.

My top 5 would look like this

King of the Hill
Simpsons
The Critic
Daria
Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist

Futurma would be up there as well but I count it as 00s show since most part of it aired then. Same with Family Guy. Not much kids shows in my list :b

My top ten:

1) The Simpsons
2) Batman The Animated Series
3) Ren and Stimpy
4) King of the Hill
5) Hey Arnold!
6) Beavis and Butthead
7) Superman: The Animated Series
8) Rocko's Modern Life
9) X-Men
10) Animaniacs

I thought this up while working at the office just now, but it's a good fit for my tastes then and now. Daria is missing, but I think I'm already pushing non-kids cartoons to much.

My personal top 10:

1. The Simpsons
2. Batman TAS
3. Animaniacs
4. King of the Hill
5. Rocko's Modern Life
6. Hey Arnold
7. Tiny Toons
8. Reboot
9. Darkwing Duck
10. Bump in the Night

Eh. 10 of the shows I like of the ones that we could vote for:
Batman: The Animated Series
Courage the Cowardly Dog!
Cow & Chicken
Darkwing Duck
Dexter's Lab
DuckTales
Johnny Bravo
SpongeBob Squarepants
TailSpin
The Powerpuff Girls

Futurama and The Critic of the shows that weren't added.

Kill: The Powerpuff Girls- I have no love for this show
Kill: Hey Arnold- The first vote I've cast this contest for a Nick show, I like it, but I didn't likelike it.

I have another question for you this round now that we're so close to the end. Actually two questions. Actually several.

Thank you guys so much!

- I don't like the double kills, made it to easy a small group of people to band up and get an otherwise worthy killed.
- I would increase the kills per round to 5 until the top 25, then 2 until the top 10, then 1 again.

Kill: Arnold, same reasons as before.
Kill: Rocko...in all honesty, I don't think I've seen 5 minutes of this show, which is why I've been avoiding voting against it. But others have done so earlier for other shows and so I'm doing it now.

My top 10 faves of the decade probably would be:

Batman TAS
Batman Beyond
South Park
Beavis and Butthead
Eek!
Ren and Stimpy
X-Men
Spiderman
SpongeBob
Superman

I can't believe how close that last round was, and I'm blown away to see Animaniacs get taken down. It's nice to see the one-time saves coming out, and making a difference!

I gotta say, I think the double kills were what made the thread so delightfully nail-biting!

Perhaps you could have it so that you can either save, or double kill, but not both. (and you can still save if you kill two separate shows)
That way, the most power is given to people who spread around the destruction (3 units of influence), but it still allows for passion against a single show (2 units of influence)

Kill: Hey, Arnold?
Kill: Batman

Still gunning for Hey Arnold!
Batman is getting a little too smug for my liking, so I'm going to punch him in the gut.

I should have held my save....

Once Rocko is gone I stop caring, Arnold by right doesn't belong up here, maybe top 10 MAYBE but not down here, but I digress...

Stuff: I would have liked to see last longer or be included at all

The Critic, why wasn't this added?
Home Movies but it's a last comer like Spongebob and shit...
Dr. Katz perfect 90's def should have been in here.
Daria should have lasted longer

People on that note, SAVE ROCKO!!!!

To give an example. 5 shows, top two getting voted off.
Show A and B look likely to leave, and Show C is a bit back at third.

  • Show A +7 kills
  • Show B +5 kills
    [*]Show C +2 kills
  • Show D +0 kills
  • Show E -1 kills

Someone then votes:
Kill: Show D
Kill: Show E
Save: Show A

Giving a new total of:
  • Show A +6 kills
  • Show B +5 kills
    [*]Show C +2 kills
  • Show D +1 kills
  • Show E +0 kills

Currently:
Just prior to the close, this person could edit their votes to:
Kill: Show C
Kill: Show C
Save: Show B

Giving:
  • Show A +7 kills
  • Show C +4 kills
  • Show B +4 kills (one extra save, so it now wins the tie)
  • Show D +0 kills
  • Show E -1 kills
So out of "nowhere", C is voted out, and B survives another day.

Under my proposal:
They could, at best, edit to:
Kill: Show C
Kill: Show C

Giving a result of:
  • Show A +7 kills
  • Show B +5 kills (without the tie-breaking save)
  • Show C +4 kills
  • Show D +0 kills
  • Show E -1 kills

Or they could vote:
Kill: Show C
Kill: Show D
Save: Show B

With a result of:
  • Show A +7 kills
  • Show B +4 kills (but with the Save that will break ties)
  • Show C +3 kills
  • Show D +1 kills
  • Show E -1 kills

As you can see, the option where they continued to split their Kill votes actually helped more to save Show B. We allow double-kills, but reduce the incentive to use them.

As you can see, I put a lot of thought into the consequences of the voting system we used in this contest, and fully admit to pulling this kind of vote switch a couple times.

Kill: Powerpuff Girls
Kill: Rocko

PPG was always something I watched if I happened to catch it when it was on. It's a neat show but really I don't think it belongs in the top 20, and much less, top 5.

Rocko's Modern life was very enjoyable but top 3 it is not.

I liked the pace of this thread and having 60+ shows to vote. My only suggestion would be to exclude super obscure cartoon shows like Don Cojote from the list which to no one has ever seen or heard of, though that shouldn't be much of a problem since the 2000's are packed with quality shows
