1990's Cartoon Survivor (Do-Over)

This whole list got really contorted imo, except for the top two which will be utterly predictable.

Kill: Batman
Kill: The Simpsons
Save: Hey! Arnold

It was those back door deals to take out certain shows in order to save other shows.

Really, I expect the list not to turn out how I like it. The one show I really think deserves to be a top ten show that didn't get the respect it deserved was X-Men. I don't think there was any other show that had the hype behind it. No matter how it "held up" the show was huge in the 90's. If you were a kid in the 90s then chances are you spent more than one Saturday biding your time until X-Men started.

i watched it, yeah. i was always more excitied for spider-man.

i didn't really like batman a whole lot as a kid. when i was a teenager, i began to respect it a lot more as i caught it on reruns.

plus, your measure isn't really a great one. i used to bide my time until captain planet and eek the cat too.

Spiderman was cool. It was disappointing that the show turned into some mental breakdown for Peter Parker, but I guess that happens a lot with the Spidermans.

I don't consider Batman a saturday morning cartoon because I remember it playing on the weekdays and then later the reruns were played on the weekdays.

I really disliked Eek the cat for a long time, but I came to enjoy it a little just before I stopped watching saturday morning cartoons altogether.

X-Men was Fox's Saturday morning flagship show. There were other cool shows on on Saturdays, but that doesn't take away the fact that X-Men was the bread and butter of that block of cartoons.

Captain Planet almost made my top 10. I really liked it as a kid. I would watch reruns early in the morning during the week. Looking back I can see how terrible it is, to the point that it's kind of funny. The fact remains that I liked it as a kid. I based all my voting on what I watched as a child because I will not go back and watch 90% of the shows on the list.

Kill: Powerpuff Girls
Kill: Hey Arnold

Both good shows, but their time is up. They don't compare to the remaining two. Action-wise, Batman beats PPG any day. Simpsons kills Hey Arnold as an insightful family show.

Strange, quiet round. Batman fans are already trying to kill Simpsons in this round and Simpsons fans are all-in going after Batman. Insecure people who don't think their favorite show can beat the other in the final round showdown?

Hey, check out this histogram of the scores for the top 10!
(score being kills minus saves)

Using the data that Absolution provided in each result, so generally only the top 5 of that round had results, but he gave some extra info several rounds ago, and I extrapolated some inbetween data.

The first thing you see is the total exodus of people from the thread! Over 100 kills in our first top-10 round, and only 60 or so in the last. Some of this is a case of the one-use save policy, but looking at kills alone:

We see a similar downward slope, as people are accepting the "inevitable" Simpsons/Batman final, and quitting.

Other interesting observations:
Hey Arnold is disliked by a rather solid voting block, but it's never sufficient to kill. As shows drop off, clearly none of the people voting on them are moving their votes to Arnold, and you see growth in votes for all other shows, until one of them loses, and the votes distribute again. Dexter's Lab had a really quick discovery/lynching, going from no votes to losing in 3 rounds.

On the topic of the anti-Arnold block:

Kill: Hey Arnold
Kill: Simpsons

I still didn't care for Hey Arnold, and that hasn't changed since yesterday!
The Simpsons because I voted for batman yesterday, and it really is hard picking between the two.

I'm still hoping to do some thread-wide analysis of all votes, but I don't really have any time right now to figure out how to pull out the data, so I might end up bumping the thread a week after it's all done.

Markster, I could PM you all the spreadsheets that have available.
Some days were lost but you can fill in some of them with the results that I posted.

I'd say that DBZ got the most hate. Arnold just has a long slow burn of general un-like.

reboot got the most hate. it was voted out about a week earlier and had almost as many all-time kills. it also holds the record for most kills in a single round.

dbz was sort of unanimously voted out, much like batman beyond and rocko's modern life.

I read that post as "of the shows in the top 10, which got the most hate".

Reboot is the Cyborg Ninja of this competition. Did a lot of damage and went down fighting before getting killed.

I can't really vote anyone off, and Batman and The Simpsons are probably the top 2 (something I like) I cant do anything more than wait and see the results. Cant really kill anythong if I like all of them.

the way reboot went down was amazing. it was under fire for so so long. had the most kills and the most saves in a single round before its defeat.

and it managed #15. great for a show that didn't look like it would have made it beyond #25.

And it still placed too low!

And it still placed too low!
Yeah, basically. A top ten show easily due to it being the first of its kind. And then everything else about it after that.

Kill: Hey! Arnold - New age Peanuts wannabe that never came close.

Save: PPG - Eat your pea, Professor.

Kill: Powerpuff Girls
Kill: Simpsons

Powerpuff Girls should not have made it to the top 4 or even the top 10. The Simpsons is just a random kill. It's not going anywhere.

How are we doing top 3? Will we find the top 2 and have them go head to head, or are we doing one round winner-takes-all?
One round winner takes all.
Two kills return with one save system returns with no double kills.
Unless you guys wanna do something different.
Voting is now closed for the likely second to last round.

Why is Batman on there twice?

I haven't had time to think about it, but I guess that's fine. It probably gives all three shows a chance in a way that a straight up 1-3 list wouldn't.

So guys, about Hey! Arnold leaving.... I have some bad news for you.

The top 3 will not be including the following show which is:
The PowerPuff Girls! with 21 votes and 2 kills!

The Top 3 were:
Hey! Arnold with 20 kills and 5 saves
The Simpsons with 11 kills and 0 saves.
Batman: The Animated Series with 8 kills and 1 save.

Your top 3 is:
Batman: The Animated Series
The Simpsons
Hey! Arnold.

IMPORTANT RULES CHANGES!

You will get two kills with one save for this final round. Pick 2 different shows to kills as There will be no double kills.

You will get one save to use on the other show.
Choose wisely for this is the final round of voting.

ALSO
Suggest shows for the 00s/Modern Era survivor that are not anime in this round. I will take it into consideration and additionally there will be a suggestion round in the new thread as well.
Here are the qualifications, it has to be a cartoon that aired in the US from 2000 to end of year 2012. Currently running shows that started during then also count.

Voting is now open for this round. Thanks!

The voting really really slowed down. Is it because people are salty? They don't care who wins? They love all the shows and can't vote to kill one of them? They don't like any of the remaining shows? or is it because they just lost interest all together?

No point anymore, anything that was quality but not expected at the end of the countdown is gone, and after all this somehow fucking Hey! Arnold ends up in the top 3?

I'll vote just to end this farce...

Kill: Hey! Arnold you should have rightfully died well before the top 10...but whatever
Kill: The Simpsons

Save:Batman:TAS deserves to win
