As for the actual boarding itself, it's seen a change towards the user-friendly side. Seymour explains that, "For years snowboarding games have been tough and punishing, but games shouldn't be about feeling frustrated; they should be about having fun." So Amped 3 focuses less on hardcore controls that take days to master, and more on just having a good time. For example, the rail button is gone. By riding near a rail or jumping onto one, you'll automatically start sliding or grinding it without having to worry about an extra button. Also, it's much, much easier to land your jumps. In the air, you can mash all kinds of buttons and still have a good chance to land your jump...

If you want a good idea of how the game will play and if Amped 2 fans will still like it...the article is pretty nice ;)

Yeah, really. Amped was one of the only snowboarding games which was fun to play, cuz it was hard. What the hell is the point of making it easier? No Rail button? Wtf? Is Mario in this game? Otherwise, isn't x360 supposed to be leet and shit?

That is the crappest idea I've ever heard.

One slightly disappointing aspect is that at the moment there is no multiplayer planned besides two-player sled mini-games
Stand corrected.

What the FUCK.

Yay, it's been made Kasavin-friendly. God ******* damn it.

Games should be about having fun, and challenge is part of what makes it fun. Landing a complicated photoshoot, or nailing a long spin with perfect style, was rewarding as hell. Now what the hell is the point of it?

------------
Style-wise, the game is quite flashy with 8-bit ninjas jumping around during loading bits
...
people react to your snowboarding through the "awesomeness" meter.
...
Since the build shown was still incomplete, shadows and particle effects were missing during normal play, and without those it looked pretty similar to Amped 2 running at 720p but with many more people, a bigger mountain, and much nicer snow.

...
Another small thing is that when doing photo shoot challenges, the game camera switches to the point of view of the cameraman, which makes it a bit tough to land.

Oh, and I also just want to add that ANYONE on this planet that thinks SSX 1-4, 1080 Avalanche, etc. are too complicated, should never play a video game ever again.

I'll be happy with everything as long as they remove the rails as the only possibility to do highscores in the game. The difference in points between doing the whole course on a rail or by doing jumps was just to high and unbalanced. And I hated doing rails.

Remove that and I'll buy you Amped 3, 2K Games.

What? The Live part in Amped 2 was so much fun! They can't take it out!

QFT. Doing rails is like riding a bike uphill. Sucks ass. Not fun, repetitive and totally fucking bizarre. Real snowboarding requires 0.000001% rails. It is NOT skateboarding.

But why no MP?WTF OMG?

That sounds complete and utter shite tbh. I'm sick of dumbed-down games as it is but this is just taking out the challenge altogether. It's like saying racing games shouldn't have an accelerator button, or fighting games should block and parry for you.

I liked Amped 2. It wasn't perfect but it was fun - BECAUSE IT WAS TOUGH AND DIFFICULT. Look at this quote ffs:
In the air, you can mash all kinds of buttons and still have a good chance to land your jump...

Is that supposed to be a good thing?! That's been written like they're actually proud of this

I liked Amped but loved ssx3. I dont see why they would make those changes when they had a nice niche for themselves. I dont see Amped being anywhere near as fun as ssx4. Maybe Amped 2 didnt sell well?

I played an Amped 2 demo and loved it basically because it didn't control like a game out of the Tony Hawk generation of extreme sports games. I hope the developers don't throw away what they had going in their previous efforts.

I really liked Amped & Amped 2 so the changes sound awful. I wonder what Take Two will do to mess up the Links series...

This sounds really weak. 2K games has really fucked this up. Let's hope they don't screw up Top Spin as well

you see what happens when 2k Games doesn't get any competition? They get lazy! WHAT YOU SAY?

i guess they need to dumb it down to attract people like Velocity Girl, or the marketplace is teh doomed

Put Take Two out of business before they ruin gaming even more. Thank goodness my Xbox still works so I can continue to play Amped 2.

haha I thought amped was the "realistic" one, now they made it all simple with an awesomeness meter? sounds like they are just trying to ape ssx.

Fact is the game was not selling well. You cant blame them for changing it up. The masses dont want realistic snowboarding games i guess.

or maybe they take Greg K more seriously than they should.

Amped 1 rode the Xbox launch to more than half a million units, it was Amped 2 that got lost in the shuffle.

Amped 3... Xbox 360 launch... $$$

Ruin the series with Amped 4 if you must.

And, yes, they must have taken Kasavin way too seriously.

Maybe not. It's too bad, though, because I really like the Amped games, and SSX never clicked with me. Amped may be brutally challenging, but man, is it ever satisfying when you pull off an awesome run.
