I made this thread closing in on three years ago and I still haven't remembered to watch Fire Walk with Me. Time flies!

(I decided some time ago to save it until after I'd watched the series again. ;))

Twin Peaks confirmed (ten blu-rays, collector) according to amazon.fr - March 25

Diane, I am positively ecstatic.

Holy shit. Yes.

Edit: Oh, dead page. :(

God dammit, what are they doing again.

I hope that's because it wasn't supposed to be listed yet. I'm sure that's the reason. Yes. There can't be any other reason. :/

EDIT : I just got some insider's news. It's still on ! The listing leaked too soon on amazon.fr is all... : )

I loved Twin Peaks (watched it for the first time in 2010) but I really kind of am of two minds about FWWM. On the one hand, I am glad I watched it for the moderately subtle additional mythology/explanations it provided. OTOH, it was significantly worse than any part of Twin Peaks and just not a very good movie or extended episode of television at all. It was...quite bad. Just be warned you may feel the same.

Fantastic! Cheers.

Haha, yeah, don't worry, I've been sufficiently warned!

Hate that cover art, but day one on that, I need it!

Jeez, scared me for a minute there.

I love FWWM, honestly. Yeah, it's a lot different from the show, but I still love it. I just hate that Lara Flynn Boyle didn't return. :(

Man I loved the show and love Lynch, but just could not dig FWWM. I think it's because I was not a fan of its conclusion.

But the extra lore was fascinating, it just took too long to get to.

I just watched Fire Walk With Me for the first time the other week. I don't think it is as bad as everybody makes it out; there are some pretty interesting scenes and direction but it definitely is a very flawed movie.
I think its because its story is so dependant on the existing narrative of the TV show so that a literal depiction of Laura's last days seems kind of convoluted and rushed, even though the movie has a relatively long running time. I am also not sure the Chris Isaac sequence needed to be as long as it did. I did like how it was generally quite scary at times, which I find quite rare in movies. Laura's demonic "Fire Walk with ME!", and crazy Bob hiding behind the drawer were really memorable moments.

FWWM was worse than the season 2 James subplot? Worse than superpowered Nadine? Worse than the Ben Horne civil war general subplot!?! That is just crazy talk. FWWM is way better than most of season 2 IMO.

I love the series but have no problem admitting half of season 2 is utter garbage. I was on the verge of giving up but stuck through it and I'm glad I did.

Heard so many good things about this but never really knew what it was about. Also thought this thing had like 9 seasons. Turns out there are only two?

Might as well check it out now.

I must be the only one that prefers Season 2 right? Now, I don't deny it has some awful episodes, worse than Season 1's, but I also believe the good episodes were better than those of S1. I also liked it delved deeper into the mythology etc.

About the movie, I only liked parts of it. The different tone and the inconsistencies between it and the show put me off.

I'm going to appreciate this thread for giving me the nudge to watch the show.

I'll be playing Deadly Premonition soon afterwards too.

I'm just surprised that Season 1 only had 8 episodes and S2 then has 22? Without spoiling or reading on the wiki, what happened during/to the production?

Super Nadine is fucking hilarious in a so bad it's good sort of way, so I don't consider it one of the low points of season 2.

Is it a BluRay-BluRay or a DVD-BluRay?

I mean is it just a transfer of the DVDs to BluRay or did they do a proper high def transfer.

Never heard of anything like a DVD-Bluray.. I guess you mean SD material in 1080p.

The show was shot on film, so you can count on new HD transfers.

Mr. Lynch was absent for much of Season 2 while he was out filming "Wild at Heart". As a result, it simply lost it's way for many of the middle episodes of that year...But, he did jump back on board for the end and those last few episodes (particularly the final 2-hour special) were some of the best.

They were also under great pressure from ABC to resolve the mystery which was likely never meant to be revealed. As a result, the story lines kinda went wacky for the middle of the season.

If I'm not mistaken the last DVD set were done with a restoration in place so really it's just a matter of going back to those scans and release an HD version.

Basically just ordering a small number of episodes to see how it would do. It got big and they ordered more. However, it seemed as though execs didn't understand or want it to continue, as they began trying to micro manage, putting them in a death sentence of a timeslot, and so forth.

The 2007 DVD boxset masters were HDCAM SR which has 1080p resolution, so they were Blu-ray ready.

Dugpa: What can you tell us about the process of doing the negative transfer to digital?

Ryan Adams: We scanned the orig. neg. and then performed a scene by scene color correction based off of our session with David, once completed we output to HD CAM SR and then performed a full DRS pass to clean up any negative dirt, hairs, scratches, etc…The negatives were in good shape and took very well to the color timings.

Ah, thanks for the heads up. I'll keep an open mind when I watch Season 2. Thanks you guys!

Ah, good points. I blocked out JAYYYMES, a terrible subplot. Superpowered Nadine was pretty bad. Billy Zane was no bueno. The Ben Horne Civil War stuff
I liked.
It was hilarious. I did like a lot of Season 2 though, especially most of the core storyline. I do stand corrected about FWWM as you described, but I still don't really care for it for the most part.

James subplot and the civil war episode that Ben had were awful. But I would lie if I said that I didn't enjoy super Nadine subplot (and felt really bad about her when she turned back to being miserable again :().

And it just ends... like THAT? WHAT. Fucking Bob.

Also I'm glad I didn't read this thread on subplots because some of you are correct, they're so ridiculous that I didn't see them coming lmao. Civil war, super strength and some of the smaller love stories is hilarious.

I finally gave in and started watching Twin Peaks. About to start episode 15 of the 2nd season. And i must say i love it, the atmosphere it sets is incredible along with most of the cast it is something unique.

However no matter how hard i try i cant stand James and Leo. Their acting is just too much to bare. Especially Leo with his Steven Seagal kinda hairdo its too much.

So far i think S1 is vastly superiour to what i've seen in S2. Some of the arcs they're taking with some of the characters seem a bit silly.

Will finish it pretty soon.

Oh yeah and i wanted to ask. Is the entire series the sound and voiceacting done in a studio? Sometimes the sound does not really match with their surroundings.

Double post for bumping this thread.

I finally finished S2. And my overal conclusion is that Dale Cooper is one of the greatest characters ever done in anything. Never seen anything like it.

However S2 is a bit messy. It has some great episodes but having the Laura Palmer storyline end somewhere in the first 8 episodes was a horrible decision forced by the higher ups.

Also apparantly David Lynch is getting his Twin Peaks on

They're looking for a hot caucasion girl to play a waitress.

Pretty sure Leo was there due to his mom being the casting director. And yeah, everyone agrees that James was lame as fuck - almost to the point where it might have been on purpose, but not quite.

That's awesome, thanks for the heads up. Probably something for the Blu-Ray.
