AND they call games for the Braves, the second most hated baseball team in the world. That's a sign they're going straight to Hell right there, so I guess it doesn't matter that they're sucking mad Braves cock all game long.

Yep :lol

Wow, the A's youngins held the powerhouse O's lineup to one run over the past two games...not bad

In fact, everyone but Zito's been lights out...

i don't even wanna know what the fuck happened. i had to leave for work before the 8th inning started, assuming we'd hold on. i get home, check the scores on espn. what a fucking choke. a great start by contreras wasted. mother fucker.

0-12 now, rockin'. Choi with a stellar 0-5 start too. Seriously, that guy has got to be one of the biggest busts we've ever picked up.

(looking ahead a few days)

Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN is gonna be the quickest game of all time. Johan Santana against Buehrle.

Despite both being aces, Buehrle has led the majors in quickest average game per start the last two seasons. Dude doesn't mess around.

knowing baseball, it'll end up being a 3 and a half hour 9 inning game.

has anyone seen the subway commercial with willie randolph and joe torre? its funny as hell and not in a good way.

You mean the commercial that makes you squirm with reflected shame for both of them? Yeah, that's one memorable POS alright. :lol

Solid outing for Weaver tonight. Hopefully he can keep consistent throughout the whole season, dont wanna see him struggle like he did early in the season last year.

The downfall of the White Sox has begun. Their closer has been exposed for the Hawkian fraud he truly is! :lol

Which sucks because I let Marte go for Yhency Brazoban.. then Brazoban sucks it up in his first outing while Marte gets a win and perhaps a chance at the closer role down the line. :(

Kuroyume... you're confident of your Mets, right? Bet with me. I need to gamble, and no one with a brain will bet against the Braves in that division. Shit, they're already in first and the Mets in last, like God intended it to be.

C'mon. You know you want to give me $50.

Silly question, but why does the NL Central still have 6 teams while the AL West has only 4 (every other division having 5)? The 'Stros, much like how the Rangers play in the AL West, should be realigned to the NL West where they can eat that weak division alive (the geezer-laden Giants and batless Dodgers would fold like lawn chairs against H-Towns rotation), and the Rockies should join the AL West in the hope that a DH might leave their pitching fresh enough to keep their mean ERA somewhere below 8.50.

It just makes for shitty sport when you've got the juggernaut Cards, the arms-heavy 'Stros and Cubs, a potentially explosive new-look Reds team, AND two other teams beating each other senseless while the NL West winner will probably need fewer victories to secure the division than a team from the Central needs to win the wildcard.

It just really doesn't make any sense to me to inexplicably have an extra NL team, when a simple realignment would mean a perfect balance of opponents in every division.

Simple answer to your question: Selig is a douche.

In other MLB Bigwigs Suck and Here's Why news, they're going to finally broadcast Nationals games locally starting with tonight's game against Florida. I had to buy MLB.TV to watch them defeat the Phillies the past two days. Bunch of bloody savages the baseball suits are, the whole lot of 'em!

Willco, what is the response to the Nats on a local scale? Do you think they will have a strong following, or do you think attendance will dwindle once the newness wears off?

It wasn't until recently that the NL Central had any kind of influence in the NL Playoffs you know. It used to be dominated by the East and West if you remember. The cards were basically a non-issue. The Astros had little to offer outside of Bags and Biggio. The cubs were a laughing stock. I mean, the Reds and the Pirates used to be the teams to beat in the central. Team heirarchy changes all the time. You're going to change the division structure every couple of years just to acheive a theoretical parity?

It was the amount of teams in the different divisions that he was really talking about. He just added the relative abilities of those teams to lend weight to his idea.

The reason that there are 16 teams in the NL and 14 in the AL is so that each team can have an opponnent on any given day. If you had an odd number of teams, it would make it harder to have an effective schedule.

no chance that marte gets a shot at closer. Shingo is the man. he just had bad day. he's already equaled his blown save total from all of last year :lol

He had a 2.31 ERA last year. he'll be fine.

I drafted Brazoban in the second to last round (well before Gagne went on the DL) and sure, like I noted earlier he looked TERRIBLE in his first appearence he still should be a good non-closing RP this year even when Gagne is back. My league counts holds though, so that combined with his very nice numbers from the end of last year had me thinking he would be a good setup guy to have and that'd he pick up some saves when Gagne wasn't available.

I'm not going to drop him or try to trade him (he has virtually no value now anyway, but he might yet become a hot commodity [sticks another voodoo pin in Gagne doll]) but another inning of watching him toss mid-80 fastballs with zero movement and I'm nailing his ass to the bench.

Because, in '95, they were about to realign the leagues into the three divison system we have today. Selig, being a douche, commissioner, and basically owning the brewers, thought he could help attendence out and win more by moving the team from the American Leauge to what would be the weakest division in 95, the NL Central. Granted, it didn't do shit, because the brewers are still cellar dwellers, and Selig is still a douche.

The worst part of this was about 5 years ago, Selig tried to push the astros into the AL West, which no one in Houston wanted, because we like most of our games played while we are awake, and we like the NL in general. If Selig wants to move anybody, he can move the fucking brewers back in the AL, where they should be.

Anybody knows why Marcus Giles hasn't played the last two games? He's been replaced by a guy named Orr both times. Is he hurt?

Marcus was hurt in the first game running into a base. He went back to Atlanta for an MRI which came back negative. He just had a deep bone bruise. They say there is a SLIGHT chance he might play tonight if his knee doesn't have too much fluid in it. If not, he should play Sunday at the latest. :)

You get that Japanese reliever that blew it yesterday (Isshi I think?) and I'll get fat ass Bob Wickman who blew it for us the day before and we'll hang them together :D

lol...Shingo Takatsu is his name. But hey, at least he didn't make a fielding error as well =p

I was worried he had injured himself seriously again. Thanks for the info. :)

Huge k by Remlinger on Jenkins. Biggest threat of the game so far is gone. May have been their only window of oppurtunity.

3-2 Cubs, bottom of the 7th

welcome home Hawkins. Fucker.

:lol

2 chicago teams, two days, two blown saves in the 9th. we support such a great sports city!

damnit, i need to leave for work in 10 minutes. come on brew crew, score a run here

I don't know if I should be mad at Hawkins or not. Walker fucking blew that play in the outfield. The guy going home would have been dead to rights if Walker didn't drop the ball.

But Hawkins still sucks.

Oh and our bullpen blows too.

bullpen's been semi-solid. Hawkins has been very Hawkins-esque meanwhile. A blown save is like giving too much credit to the other team. Hawkins just pulled a Hawkins. And yeah, that was the outfielder's fault, agreed. But Im not sure Hawkins would have felt the pressure dropped until they tied.

Wel that's true Hawkins is living up to 2004 form.

We need a real closer or we are doomed.

I don't know if I can take another year of Hawkins blowing games in the 9th. But of course this is the guy who still doesn't think pitching in the 9th is different than coming in the 7th or 8th.

Our favorite manager Dusty Baker left Leicaster in there for more than 50 pitches in relief. WTF! :lol

Seriously, without the names on there, I assumed it was Wellemeyer because that's just stupid to have him in still!

Ahh, I love the way the WSBK reporters and announcers always say "Toronto" and "Blue Jays" like they're bizarre made up foreign words. "the last time the Sox were here in... To-ron-to?... was in 1989 and blah blah blah".

Might have to stick with the Sportsnet feed on this one, but I normally like the chummy homerism of the local broadcasts except when they're playing a team I like.

*storms back in thread* Jesus Dusty! Will you quit beating around the damn bush!? "Hawkins has the stuff. We jus..." STFU!! He's one hell of a consistent pitcher, I'll give him that. What is he, 20/20 on blown saves? Asshole! I've never seen someone so unbelievably stubborned. Don't pitch his ass under pressure!! What the hell does it take to realize he is not our closer??? Is Rod Beck doing anything?!

Baker rides an arm way too long AGAIN. Baker must think his pitcher's arms are made out of some titanium alloy. I just don't get him at all. You would think he would learn after screwing up Wood and Prior (and his pitchers in SF too).

lol, in two weeks leicester will have something wrong with his arm and go on the DL for two months.

not that dusty has ever done that to any pitchers before, though. just saying stranger things have happened.
