:lol :lol :lol Since when is Wood our 2nd best pitcher? He'll be lucky to still be around next year. Zambrano eats him alive.

Since when Cubs fans made him the next HOF'er after 20 plus strikeout game, and so on. OK, NOW Cubs fans try to play it off he isn't good. Right .. :lol

dude, that was 7 years ago. You know, when Griffey was still good too.

Yeah and he's still considered at least your third best pitcher. Who's better? Dumpster? Rusch? :lol Oh man I hope you start Dumpster vs. us.

Hey, who's got the second best record in all of baseball, and best record in the AL? That's right baby, the Chi Sox.

El Duque with 6 shutout innings. I'm really enjoying these ex-Yankee pitchers =)
Konerko with his ML leading 7th HR. Thing was a fucking bomb to dead straight away center.

Hermanson has still not allowed a single run this year. He'll be our closer soon, as something is wrong with Shingo =(
Last year the guy was untouchable. Had a streak of 26.1 scoreless IP. Sigh. I have no idea what happened.

But, as far as my first game I attended this year, it was awesome.
The highlight of the night: the whole stadium chanting "tor-iiiii, tor-iiiii"

oh, and there was a very large CUBS SUCK chant started on the upper deck when a cubs fan(had a cubs jersey and twins hat) started mouthing off very loudly. then he got in a fight with someone and got kicked out by security. it was perfect.

our starting pitching is looking so damn good right now it is insane.

Blue Jays better get ready, honeymoon's over, better have psychological help on hand for Chacin because here comes the Kid:

I'm predicting six wonderful homers in the series, maybe 20 RBI.

Starting pitching has looked good, but Contrares is living on the edge! He has been more lucky than good in his first couple starts!

On one hand, Johnson's mediocre play is surprising (it's the DRays fer chrissakes!), but on the other, it's not. The last I saw of him in the AL (in 1998, I think), he was really not that dominating. At the time, I remember seriously thinking he was washed out. But then came the trade to the Astros and - more importantly - a move to the NL where he was suddenly facing pitchers and weak @ss number 8 hitters. The rest is history. This year, with Pedro carving out opposing hitters like it's 1999 (and him having a bad season in the AL last year - by his standards at least), there are definitely some parallels to be drawn I think.

Not sure about that. My team faced Randy last year in an interleague game, and he flat-out dominated us.

This year, with the Yankees, the same lineup lit him up like a New York Christmas Tree. I think age is just catching up with the guy.

Johnson's problem is he's not throwing nearly as hard as usual yet. Gammons and Reynolds think its the cold weather.

Seeing a guy who usually hits 95-97 on the gun with ease barely reach 92/93 makes me believe.

Well, that and I have to hold on to something because this year is starting off fucking awful.

:lol no joke. the game against the twins....they lost it more than we won it. we deserved to lose that game, no doubt.

Jays will sweep the 2 game set with the Yanks

Chacin will be 4-0 after tonight :D

I don't want to stop you from being so cocky (actually, I do) but Lily starts tonight. :lol

It's nice that we play in the dome, even if it's not the most baseball-friendly park...on nights like tonight (It's POURING rain) it'll be a nice escape from the weather, even if getting to the ballpark is a pain in the ass. Man I hate Toronto weather.

There's also the matter of his advancing age. You know, the Yankees will be paying him 16 mil when he's 44!

On another note, the total on tonight's Braves-Nats game is 9. Granted, these are the #5 starters from each team. But I'm bettting big on the under so at least I won't be quite so frustrated when the Braves lose 2-1.

Please let me hold on to my little Gammons/Reynolds endorsed factoids as excuses why the Yankees are sucking so bad to start the season.

Thanks.

As if losing 4 in a row after being up 3 wasn't enough, now they're playing to be the worst waste of money in the history of the game. I guess it only fits considering where all other over priced NY teams usually fall.

Fuck you Danny Graves, it's not a joke:

CINCINNATI -- Danny Graves is paid to get batters out, but in his last four appearances he admits he's been doing a fine job of lining some other people's pockets.
"You know how good I am for the ratings on Fox (Sports Net)?" Graves joked. "Or the vendors here? You know how good that is? They don't stop the hot dog or cotton candy sales in the ninth. I'm making extra money for them.

"If you go three up, three down, there's no time to buy extra stuff."

Graves has given those vendors plenty of time to hawk their products lately.

I wish I could bottle it up, but that'll only make matters worse. It also doesn't help that all my coworkers seem to be Red Sox fans. If I don't vent here, people will die.

i dont understand! the guy lost the strike zone completely. he had matsui 0-2 and lost him and walked him, then he threw non-stop bad sliders to arod and walked him yet giambi swings at the first pitch and pops out. i dont fucking get it. take a pitch jesus.

Giamboid freaking sucks. It's a good thing for the Yankees they have patient, clutch hitters like Kid Wonderful hitting before him.

So far Zach Day is pitching the game of his life against the Braves. Who would have thought it? Oh yeah, me. This is really getting hard to watch.

Giambi was trying to get his confidence up by hitting a grand slam to make it... 11-1. Those 4 runs are more important than 1, especially with the way they've been pitching.

Pavano's pitching well, this is a lot like he pitched all year for Florida. Hope he keeps it up.

Nice to see Posada hit the ball for a change.

Sox up 9-1 going into the 9th. Garland with 1 ER and 5 hits in 8 innings.. He moves to 3-0.

Our record is up to 11-4. Our starting pitching = scarey good right now.

Some explanation on quote above:

Then again, given that some of his players have referred to him as "the black Jesus" behind his back -- "no (sacrilege) intended, but he is resurrecting this franchise," said cornerback Artrell Hawkins -- perhaps Lewis does have an inside track to some higher authority. Certainly it will take the equivalent of a modern-day miracle to enact the kind of turnaround Bengals ownership has asked Lewis to promulgate.

What happened to Nomar? Poor guy

:lol :lol :lol
He made an error earlier this game, too. Poor, poor Cubbies. First Walker, now Nomar, and always Prior and Wood. I feel kinda bad for the guys.

Nah, no I don't.

Will the Yanks get a complete game from a starting pitcher for the first time in what feels like forever? I don't even remember the last one...

Guess Not..

Pitcher Change: Steve Karsay replaces Carl Pavano.

Way to go Joe and Mel, 91 pitches was really starting to tax the guy. Oh well, at least we have a starter with an ERA below 3.

I'd rather have Karsay get some work in rather than Pavano complete the game. I really hope Karsay can get his shit together. Then NY can trade that loser Tom Gordon. I wish they would trade that fucker to the Rockies or something.

The number of runners the Cubs have left on base tonight in scoring position is sickening!!!!!!

Good thing Big Z is on top of his game tonight!

HOLY SHIT LATOI! Nice 405 foot out which was blastered to the center field wall on the final play of the game. GIVE CUBS FANS A COLLECTIVE HEART ATTACK. Fuck!

I totally thought that was gone. I think the announcers did(the shitty local ones. Bob Brenly and that stooge Len) too. Right after he hit it: "oh, oh my...this is deep"

Damn, too bad.
