Huh? On what do you base that?

Fifty said:Get Peter Gammons on the phone. You're not going to get us to say that we're over achieving! ;p
I think they're playing up to their potential, not playing better than it. Sure the Red Sox played worse than they "should" have, but we took advantage of that and deserved the wins. The next weeks will obviously show what we're made of, since we play 13 away games in 14 nights after this friday-sunday series. Tomorrow it's Josh Towers vs Santana, and if we win that....oh boy. Don't even expect a post from me, because I'll be out drinking to the magical Control Towers.
Maxwell House said:Beltran only has an .814 OPS, which isn't bad but isn't that great either. He is getting paid $17 million a year to put up average numbers for an OFer.
And I don't think his numbers this year are because of him slumping or anything. I think an .814 OPS is about what we can expect from Beltran as a Met for most of his contract. His career numbers have been inflated because he has played in nothing but great hitter's parks his entire career. KC was as good of a hitter's park as Arlington when Beltran was there, and then he went to Houston, another great hitter's park.
There is no way in hell Beltran is worth close to what the Mets paid him. Mets were suckers and paid him based on a handful of playoff at bats last season.

X-rays on Prior's elbow were negative, Cubs trainer Mark O'Neal said, but a source with the team said later Friday an MRI revealed a "slight" fracture. The Cubs will continue to evaluate Prior's injury to determine how much time he will miss.

I would like to thank two people, nay, friends on GAF. Captain McBlack for keeping the faith with me even through the bad times. And the... wonderful Fifty, who not only features KID WONDERFUL himself as his avatar, but also provided his team with enough of a moral push to sweep the Red Sox.
Gentlemen, I salute you.
