Don't worry you'll be like this soon enough:

Well, I didn't really expect the Phillies to make the playoffs after losing those two games to the Mets, but I they somehow managed to stay in it.

I could write a 10 page paper on why the Phillies didn't make the playoffs. At least 5 of those pages would have something to do with Charlie Manuel. From thinking that lefty righty match ups mean more than anything, to just destroying the bullpenn in the first half. I would like to say it was a good season, but it wasn't.

I am astonished at the lack of Angels respect in this thread. The Yankees have been hot, but the Angels have been just as hot. Don't forget to factor in the fact that the Angels own the Yankees, and have home field advantage. I personally think the Angels can go to the World Series.

You know, I really wouldn't be surprised if both the Red Sox and Yanks got bounced in the first round.
I dunno what Fox would do in that case. But I do know every media outlet would then call this season's play-offs the worst ever.

That's right....Padres all the way, with Sean Burroughs hitting a pinch hit walk off homerun to win it.

Because thatd be the truth

Fuck that. I'm so sick of the Sox/Yankees bullshit. The games are awesome, yeah, but enough is enough. I want new blood, even if it isn't the White Sox.

Man I'm going to miss Mike Piazza. Talk about one classy ball player. The love between he and the fans is almost corny at times. They kept saluting him after 3 curtain calls directly after the jumobtron video tribute in the 7th inning.

I'd love for the Mets to sign him to one final contract, whats the deal here...wtf..its not like theyre going to have a better alternative anyways. Retire the guy in a Mets uniform, have hm part of Mets history. He certainly brought us enough great moments in Mets history,we were in shambles before he got here and got us over the hump.

Good luck Mike Pizza, kick their asses where ever you end up,baby.:) Just as long as its not with the Braves.

The Sox/Yankees has lost much of its luster if you ask me. One year ago it was the renegade Red Sox, the perennial underdogs trying yet again to take down the "evil empire." There's no sense of desperation for the Red Sox anymore, and to me, that has really diminished the dynamic these two teams had going prior to the Sox winning it all last year. You can't top last year. No matter who you were cheering for, that was a historic ending that cannot be repeated.

Anyways, I feel that both the Sox and Yankees are very vulnerable, and I just don't see both making it out of the first round. I also don't see either of them winning it all.

DIVISION SERIES
- AL
Red Sox vs White Sox = Red Sox in 5. It's crazy, yes...but if Ozzie can get that small-ball going proper, it'll be a surprisingly tough series. The Palehose have very good pitching and defense, so if they can hold the Red Sox offense down even a little bit, they've got a shot.

Yanks vs Angels = Yanks in 4. The Yankee starting pitching is key. If it holds up for 6 or more innings, they can beat anything and anyone - even the ultra-pesky Angels. They're not going to give up too many runs, so it'll be timely run production that does the trick.

- NL
Astros vs Braves = Astros in 4. Braves have a balanced attack, but Astros pitching is fearsome. Roy O, Pettitte and Clemens in a short series? Oh shit. :o

Padres vs Cardinals = Cards in 3. This is going to be murder, I say. MURDER.

===========================
LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
- AL/Yankees vs Red Sox = Yankees in 6. Yankees and Red Sox are mirror images of each other...but this time around, Sox pitching won't hold them up. Manny and Ortiz are going to terrorize the Yankees however.

- NL/Astros vs Cards = Astros in 7. The Cards can match that Astros pitching, but I really think some miraculous shit is going to happen in that series to propel them into the WS. Probably the ghost of Roger Clemens' mom, or Carlos Beltran's tears of failure or something.

===========================
WORLD SERIES
Astros vs Yankees = Yankees in 7.

And then, I will weep. :)

Lets go YANKS!

Yanks vs Angels - Yanks in 4
Yanks vs Red Sox - Yanks in 6
Yanks vs NL Team - Yanks in 5

Yanks- 2005 World Series Champions.

Dye's homer gave Chicago 200 this season, making the White Sox and Yankees the first teams in major league history to hit at least 200 in six straight years.

wow, I did not know that.

But it is high time to extend due recognition to a group of baseball fans who have not only suffered long, but have suffered long in relative silence. Not only has the thrill of ultimate victory eluded White Sox fans for 88 years, but they haven't even gotten a decent amount of publicity for being perpetually on the outside looking in.

The Red Sox defeated the expectations of history last October. Good for them. It will be fascinating to see whether that triumph was a one-time phenomenon or a page turning in the history of humankind.

But on the other side of the argument, the South Side Chicago franchise and its loyal followers deserve something resembling a fair shake. Yes, the White Sox play in a major market. But they are still a consummate underdog operation. They are the underdogs locally, they are the underdogs nationally, and they are probably the underdogs out there in the most distant reaches of our galaxy.

Maybe it is somehow fitting that, one year after the Red Sox finally triumphed, they would face a team that has its own drought of Saharan proportions. The Red Sox have had all the drama and the poetry and the philosophy. All the White Sox have had is 88 years of disappointment, instead of 86. You don't need to be Albert Einstein to figure out which is worse.

=( so true

baseball's highest payroll wins the east again? how could this be so?

Padres are of course a big underdog here against the Cardinal machine.. but they did win the season series 4-3.

Their bats are going to have to wake up for them to have a chance. Their pitching should be great, but if those sticks aren't live then the slightest slip up on the mound will be a disaster.

I say hit Pujols every time he steps up to the plate. Wounding Edmonds wouldn't be a bad idea either.

This was us 10 years ago when we worked our butts off to get into the postseason.
Only to get upset by the Mariners, who took the last 3 games at Seattle to get the win.

I remember crying like a little bitch in the corner of my room yelling it wasn't fair. I cried for Mattingly, I cried for Strawberry, I cried for the Yanks.

Muttering the Cleveland sports fan's credo..

"Maybe next year.."

*goes back to crying*

I've NEVER sweared so much at my TV as I did this weekend. Damned Tribe couldn't get a key hit to save their lives. They HAD this thing, and yet let it slip right through their fingers.
