Yeah, the huge post kinda breaks things down. I think the thread that post came from was arguing more about drivers being athletes (which to me is indisputable) then auto racing being a sport (which a good argument could be made for either way). I can see why people don't look at auto racing as being a sport, but there's no logical argument that can be made to say that the drivers aren't athletes. But since I get ultra defensive about anything related to auto racing these days, I just lash out at anything. :lol Anyway, got no problem with the disagreement here.

Ok, so now that we've got that discussion over with, lets start a new one. Who on that list is the greatest athelete?

I'd have to give my nod to Lance Armstrong. The Tour is just incredibly grueling and requires strength, agility, stamina, and tenacity over a month of racing. Second, I'd probably have to go for Jordan, for obvious reasons. The Man is simply a legend, and did things on the basketball court that were remarkable. Third I'd have to give to Vick. He's still learning how to be a Qb, but much like Jordan, he does things in every game that make you sit up and take notice. He is the most exciting player in the NFL for sure.

Any thoughts?

Not on the list, but the greatest athlete is clearly Ben Roethlisberger.

Kobe is a distant second.

P.S. I heard Jordan is going to enter "Dancing with the Stars" and start to bump and grind with Barkley. That is an automatic qualification.

:lol :lol :lol

I like Big Ben and all, but he'd be so far down the list of greatest athletes in the world it wouldn't be funny! :D In fact, he's not even the best on his team with Randel-El taking that honor.

Don't change the subject.

I was talking about when Jordan freaked Sir Charles in public. God knows what those weirdos do in private...

Well I meant greatest athlete at the end of his career as I have foreseen it. He is going to end the Pats dynasty next year.

I hope you are right! I'm sick of Brady and the Pats!

Don't worry, Big Ben is the the NFL messiah. It is destiny.

Coincidentally the war on terror and global warming are going to end the exact moment the Pats lose in the AFC Championship. Coincidence?

Hmmm...

I believe this is ONLY endorsements, or else Kobe and Shaq would be listed higher than $28-32M, considering that their salaries alone are $22M+.

i doubt that it doens't include salaries. I find it hard to believe that Kobe and Shaq make more in endorsements EVERY year than they do from their NBA contracts. Really, all Kobe has left as far as endorsements is Nike, so that would figure to make up the extra $10 million or so, which sounds about right. Shaq, while always being a marketable guy, hasn't really been swimming in endorsements, especially recently. What commercials have you seen him in lately? Radio Shack and IcyHot patches and thats about it? You think each of them is paying him 7 figures?

Dude, Shaq makes nearly $28M with the Heat. So you think that he only makes $4M in endorsements per year? Doubtful.

Besides, think about it-- it HAS to be endorsements, since a guy like Jordan no longer collects a salary for playing ball, yet he's on the list.
