It's almost like he gets to a new team, decides he's going to be the harsh discplinarian and get everyone playing together, takes a year to work out the systems and get some trades done so his system works. Second year the team probably over achieves. By the third year he's feeling lonely in his new city so in order to befriend the players, starts letting some of them get iso's on O and the like, that they really shouldn't be getting.
