It's pretty crazy that Dirk is surpassing his previous-best shooting percentage by 5% at 32.
It's still early in the season. I doubt he'll be able to keep it up for 82 games.

Probably not, but it's still weird. He's never started a season this hot before.

If this continues through the season I'm going to establish the "Dampier Theory."

Rinse. Repeat. Every year. Come talk to me in May/June.
Umm what? Our D was great last year. It was the most consistent thing about our team. It's the complete opposite now.

Sixers GAF, is there room for room for one more....the Sixers are hot!!!

On a more serious note I am happy they are playing better but who are we kidding, they don't have a whelks chance in supernova of winning this year. If we can somehow convince the Wizards to take Iggy and his huge contract I'd feel better about the future. As it is I am going to get dragged to another Sixers game in a near empty Corestates /First Union / Wachovia / Wells Fargo Center.

You do understand the word sarcasm, right?

I hope you realize the Lakers ranks near the top in opponent FG%, and it's better than last year.

Just got back from the game.

John Wall, Nick Young and Hibachi were taking turns styling on the Lakers.

Sharp would be proud.

The Lakers came out active in the 3rd and fell asleep in the final 6 of the quarter.

Lamar's 3 pointer attempt at the end had the entire arena groaning...

As the Lakers prepare for a roadie that will have them away from Staples till the 21st, I'm a little concerned about their focus.

I guess we'll see.

This bigger lineup the Hawks have run with the last two games is fascinating.

It's like an alternative universe where we didn't give Joe the biggest contract in FA. Obviously he makes us a better team (hooray 4th in the East!), but I like to imagine building on Al and Josh as the centerpieces of the team instead.

Although we just would have scrambled to find a consistent scorer/competent big man for the next two seasons before dealing someone anyways.
Removing Joe Johnson allowed you to go from being embarassed by the magic, to beating them.

126MILLION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That 3 pointer got the people at Buffalo Wild Wings scratching their heads too

Weren't they in the 8th slot when they played the Knicks?

They're still tied for it :lol

It would be amazing if the last 3 playoff spots are not decided until the final week. :lol

On the positive side, any of these teams can decide to either tank or to nab a playoff spot and try their hand at taking on Boston/Miami/Orlando in the first round.

NBA.com is such a troll.

And yes, I was proud of how my Wizards played last night. I knew they wouldn't win, but I never expected them to get as close as they did.

The more accurate statement would be "get League Pass" but the two times I've shelled out for that shit the quality was no better than most internet streams. Might be a Comcast thing more than the NBA's fault but it still sucked so I can't blame people for not wanting to pay $150 for it.
If you have Comcast are you also getting a free NBA game every night? I get one on the GAME channel (787). As I said before, they show the Lakers most of the time so it is pretty sweet. Though you live in LA so you probably get the game locally anyways.

They are nothing if not predictable.

One day I would like to hear the story of what Derek Fisher did to Kobex. It must have been something bad. Like that episode of Different Strokes with the child molester in the bike shop bad.

Games of the night:

Tier 1 (must watch):

Heat @ Jazz - The anticipated rematch. Will Thrillsap drop 40 on Christina again? Or will the Big 3 finally beat a good team (albeit one that's not playing that well right now)? One thing's for sure... we will all be watching.

Lakers @ Clippers - Pretty much any good team against the Clippers is going to be fun, since they usually play up to their opposition (until the fourth quarter anyway). Watch out for Blake Griffin teabagging Pau, but don't lose sight of Eric Gordon in the background.

Tier 2 (should be good):

Thunder @ Timberwolves -- The Thunder are a weird team. Their level of play seems to vary widely from night to night, with or without Durant. The Twolves have been playing much better lately, and I think it's possible we'll see the Darko-Love combo styling all over their opponents.

Grizzlies @ Suns -- Grizzlies are like a better version of the Nets, in that games they play against slightly better opposition are usually awesome.

Tier 3 (tune in if it's close):

Nuggets @ Celtics -- The Celtics are too good to let a game like this get away from them, but the Nuggets are good enough at getting to the line that it might not be a blowout.

Raptors @ Knicks -- Raptors are barred from Tier II until the next time they play the Nets or the Clippers because they are a pathetic team. Shawne Hornacek will hit six threes in a row and not even shrug.

Pacers @ Bucks -- Both teams are decent (in the case of the Bucks, great) defensively, but the Bucks absolutely blow on offense. It could still be close because they play at such a frustratingly slow pace, though.

Warriors @ Spurs -- Spurs should win, but the Warriors look to at least up a fight.

Tier 4 (for fans of the teams only):

Bulls @ Cavaliers -- We already answered the question of how low Cleveland could sink when they got blown out by the Timberwolves, then Pistons, then Sixers. At this point, I would really only tune into this game out of morbid fascination.

Pistons @ Hornets -- The Hornets are a broken-down, broken-hearted team, but nowhere near Cavs-bad. This should be the game that finally ends their losing streak. I doubt any of them will care though.

Wizards @ Kings -- Fundamentals? What's that? Maybe you meant "turnovers"?

John Wall and Pooh Jeter battle for MVP!

IT'S ON!

Edit: Wow. Just watched the T-Mac highlights from the game last night. That 3-pointer he dropped gave me chills. I haven't seen him take a shot with that much confidence, with that beautiful form since 2008.

Having watched most games this season (and parts of all the games), I wouldn't say that our level of play has varied much: it's pretty much all been "mediocre." Our record is not indicative of our level of play (thankfully).

I'm really puzzled as to what is ailing us defensively, and I'm sick of playing close games no matter who our opponent is. We were up by 23 or so against Golden State, and allowed a 38 point 4th quarter to let them cut the lead to single digits, and had to knock down FTs for the win.

Glass half-full: Durant has yet to play like himself, we've had some nagging injuries early that have made our rotations funky, and we're still 14-8 (we hovered around .500 until the Maynor acquisition last season and played great from the end of December through February.) We didn't lose any players from last season's great defensive squad, so there's a good chance they'll figure things out on that end.

Glass half-empty: Our point differential is NEGATIVE (:lol), our defense has been substandard, the bench scoring has been nonexistent, and if Durant or Westbrook has an off night, the game will almost certainly be close.

P.S. Love this feature Sharp, keep it up if you have the patience and energy to slog through the whole season!

Haha, I don't watch the Thunder nearly as much as you, Gondo, so you're probably right. It's just that sometimes they look like a contender against good teams, and sometimes they lie down for bad ones. It's confusing. Thanks for the support, BTW. I at least right now intend to continue it unless I'm away on vacation, at least on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Things are really bad. They lost $6M in 2008, and say they made almost $6M in 2009, but it looks a lot better than reality. That "profit" came from restructuring their enormous debt.
The Hornets saga is really, really sad. I know some people here are happy New Orleans is probably losing its franchise, but it's bad for the NBA any time a team goes under.

Bullshit. NBA-GAF is bigger than vacation. Hotels have internet access too!

I did end up checking channel 787, it showed the laker game going on last night but it said i needed to subscribe to the channel to have access to it. I have NBA TV but apparently not this channel with comcast.

Wonder why the hell I am getting it.

Better check my bill for next month to make sure those bastards are not charging me for it...

Thank you, based god.

Darko (as embarrassing as it sounds) beasted on us last time.
No need to be embarrassed, he goes off even on great teams like the Knicks.

Also, a quote from the greatest Clipper of all time:
Griffin wasn't regarding a meeting against Kobe Bryant as a defining moment.

"I don't really compare myself like that," he said. "When you play a player like that, our games are completely different. … I'm not going to look at this like: 'OK, I've made it because I've played well against Kobe.' That never crossed my mind."
Griffin disrespecting Kobe and acting like he's guaranteed to have a good game tonight? Methinks Mamba's going to have one of them statement games.

Good feeling about tonight's game against the Knicks. Amar'e has a chance at a record-2nd Knick all-time with six straight 30 Point games-so he's gonna be a black hole on offense.

Also, Raps are coming off the worst loss of the season. Unleash STAT+, EDE, etc.

A black hole? I sure hope he's going to be one. Knicks have not lost yet when he has taken more than 20 shots in a game. The losses have come at a time when he was not assertive enough.

I´m not buying those financial numbers. Sure, it´s official, but so were Enron´s.

Even if we buy in to those numbers, those owners are supposed to be billionaires, and they should spend some money on their "toys".

There´s a reason why the players association are not feeeling pity towards the owners and we will probably have a lockout.

I´m not surprised if the NBA allows in the new CBA the teams to have sponsors, like it is in other countries. Owners don´t want to lose a penny running those teams and players don´t want owners to stop giving stupid contracts. Somebody will pay the bill.

I hope it´s Stern.

Ugh. I hope you're not thinking about any long term success by just feeding Amar'e...That's exactly how teams used to beat the Suns in the playoffs...

No, I'm not thinking "long term", I'm talking about tonight. And anyway, I'm hoping he'll keep looking for his own shot like he does now. Nobody has an answer for him, and he makes the Knicks around him better. The wings need more spacing. Do you think Gallinari needs to handle the ball like Diaw used to? Or that Felton is as ball-dominant as Nash? The system is different from PHX back in the day.

I thought Amare was always a black hole on offense and that's why he sucks, Advanced STAT/David Lee/Chris Bosh/insert PF here is better, etc.

Raptors would do well to have an additional option on offense aside from Bargnani if they want a chance to win this game. It'd be a good time for Derozan to not suck dick.

Until Turner grows some testicles... I am against trading Iggy. Besides this draft looks lame and could get lamer if theres a lockout.

Welcome aboard the now 4 man bandwagon.

Not part of Sixers age, but I am going to the game against the Lakers where hopefully we get a sneak preview of full force Lakers with Big Sexy coming back to dominate the paint with Gasol and Odom.
