Getting pretty excited about tonight's game. I'm definitely taking the camera. I want to get some shots of Deron abusing Arroyo and Millsap further diminishing Bosh's manhood.

I hate that goddamn team. Their fans make eternal enemies out of anyone who looks at them the wrong way, their tempo's akin to waterbeetles crawling in molasses, Miller's face reminds me of Bowen, and the list just keeps getting bigger the more I see them on national television.

My filthiest dream is to see the Suns take Oden and turn him into a beast while the Portland schmucks cuddle next to their smear campaigns with tears in their eyes.

Something weird is definitely going on. The loss to the Bulls is a bad one as they made 18 more foul shots and still weren't able to win. Typically if you make that many more from the line you should have an easy time. The rebounding differential was inexcusable though. Maybe they're just having a few disinterested moments or something.

How do you think I've been feeling the past couple of seasons... I still haven't let that frustration out on other teams though. Maybe one or two here, but I get so much more enjoyment seeing my injury raveled team overcome their adversity. There's only so much you can do after things go wrong for so long.

Anyhow...
The NBA owners aren't the only ones looking to alter the landscape of the league over the next several seasons through the league's collective bargaining agreement.

While the owners want to do away with the soft salary cap and guaranteed contracts, the players hope to end the age restriction that forbids players from entering the NBA directly out of high school.

Yeah, refs hurt the game for me. It felt like they just couldn't keep the whistle out of their mouths, it was ridiculous. Took J-Rich out of the game which killed us. We still should have had the game but played like complete shit for the end stretch, at least 9 turnovers and Nash just didn't really look for the other guys anymore. Kudos to the Blazers for keeping their heads up and some solid D was played at times. We look to get revenge on Friday!

Not necessarily a 76ers fan, but I was hyped to see what they could do with the new look team they had coming into the season. Definitely a disappointment so far, but they've been playing a lot better the past 3 games after they put Jodie Meeks into the starting lineup instead of Turner and Iggy (two wings who can't shoot). Now they have a slasher and a shooter. Meeks so far has shown that he's capable of being a legit role player for years to come if he keeps up his high shooting percents.

Really excited to see how they match up against Boston tomorrow night. Sixers have no interior presence and are a more wing-oriented team. I see the Celtics probably shutting them down, but still interested to see if they can keep up this play against one of the big dogs of the NBA.

I still feel for you on Oden. Portland is one of the top few teams I respect the most, due to building from the ground up with young talent. It's just a shame you're always plagued with injuries because the talent is high. I still place the Thunder above you because they're more fun to watch ;)
 
The NBA without any sort of salary cap would be one hundred times worse than major league baseball in terms of parity. Small-market teams would go from having to get a lucky break to having no chance at all of contention. Ever.

Blake was getting too comfortable with the nudging. I thought Miller's hit was unprovoked until they replayed it back and saw that Griffin's love taps were everywhere. It would have been blashpemy to suspend him before the Lakers game, though.

It would be terrible. I'd give up on the NBA. Right now small markets need a miracle run to get a chance, but it's still unlikely for them. In an uncapped league, there would be no hope at all for the smaller markets.

Exactly. In baseball you can load a team with some of the best players in the game, spend over $200 million a year on payroll, and still not make the World Series every year. In basketball, we'd more than likely be looking at a Lakers team with Dwight, Kobe, CP3, Gasol and LeBron starting (and I don't even want to think about their bench). They would have trouble losing a single game, let alone a seven-game series.

Making every year of every contract essentially a team option doesn't make any fucking sense for the players. Even if it actually worked out the way you think it would (which it wouldn't), players would spend the season competing not just with other teams, but with each other. They would form cliques and gang up on players disliked in the clubhouse so they didn't get the ball and their stats fell, ensuring that they would be the ones to lose their contracts. That's just one of the reasons your idea is stupid and it's barely scratching the surface.

Players have to deal with cuts at almost every level from the first time they pick up a ball - I doubt they'd turn tribal when confronted with that again.

I'm actually in favor of the idea. Not entirely because it gives teams a giant axe to wield, but the basic premise works.

lol at love taps. People push like that all the time when boxing out.

There should be performance and fitness goals in contracts and if a certain amount of them aren't met a team should have the option of cutting that player.

The funny thing about this is that it's really at the owners' discretion. Why the fuck do these owners keep giving ridiculous guaranteed contracts to players that don't deserve them?

The premise doesn't work, because it not only hurts the players, it removes a major bargaining chip for teams. Specifically, the ability to offer a real multiyear deal.

...aaaaand queue the mass exodus to the Euroleague. The NBA has real competition these days, it's not actually in their best interests as an enterprise to come down too hard on the players here.

There's definitely a lot of stupid contracts given out that don't make sense from the start- but there are also cases where a player gets paid and he suddenly becomes Eddy Curry. Given GMs a mulligan makes sense as long as it isn't too liberal- there should probably be a pay-out kicker so it's not an easy choice to cut someone every year.

But it's not fair for entire franchises to be hamstrung because one guy got paid and decided he didn't need to work any more.

Move the Kings to Las Vegas. Move the Hornets to Kansas City, St. Louis or Seattle. Get the Nets into Brooklyn already. NBA is fixed.

Actually with the way we've been playing, I don't feel great either. I think it's a 60/40 chance we win, but a week ago I would have been 80/20.

I can't watch them because of this. The game stops so much so they can shoot FTs every other possession.
