- Wiz SHOULD have won the game.
- My statement yesterday that Knicks are not even on the Cavs' level was borne out tonight. It feels good to be right.

Okay... see this is why people just don't even bother with you or the majority of the new heat fans.

The functionality and effectiveness of an offensive system has no direct correlation with PPG.

There isn't even a 'we'll see' in it, Miami's offense so far has come from Wade and Lebron making shit up as they go and trips to the free throw line. As soon as they run into any kind of defense and disruption, they wilt immediately. There's no adaptability at all. When the other team isn't giving them the ball away and they're unable to penetrate at will, Miami does nothing. Give me an example of when they have this season, I'll be cool to go back and forth with you over it.

They're barely better than Atlanta when it comes to being ready for the playoffs at the moment - which is some bullshit.

Even pheenix can see the writing on the wall. Probably why he's been so quiet this season...
 
This is the least tense OT game ever. Spurs have been in control the entire time. MEM has had the lead for less than 30 seconds since the 1st quarter. They never had a shot to win at the end of regulation; we just missed a layup.

OT comes and we take over again. Hopefully we don't blow it and go to 2OT. I want this game to end so the guys get some rest...
 
A team with good team defense could very easily send the Heat to an early fishing trip in the post season.

That team better be ready to score also. I don't see anyone but Boston and maybe Chicago beating them in the EC. I don't like Orlando's perimeter defense vs. Miami but if they got hot from 3, they could give the Heat trouble

If Atlanta had a home crowd or a good playoff coach (which is yet to be seen), I wouldn't hesitate to put money on them over Miami.

Both teams are weak-minded as hell and Wade still isn't as good as he was last year... Too bad Atlanta is the new NOLA.

Any game where Udoka is playing anything more than garbage minutes and we have a chance to win, is a moral win in my book. That guy is fucking terrible. Come back James Anderson!
 
I was bored so I started watching clips from old Celtics seasons. I need to find the Celtics vs Bulls from 09 playoffs. That was the most amazing series I have ever seen. Started watching clips and recaps of all the games. I forgot how ridiculous those games were. So many crazy ass shots. I wish I had recorded all of the games. I need to find those games in hd.

I'll make no excuses, the Heat's team is based on attacking the basket. When you have two of the best fast break and aggressive players in the league, of course they are going to run up the bill on foul shots. Another huge aspect is that when you have a player like Lebron charging into the paint, everyone rotates into the middle leaving someone on the outside open - this where the Heat's 3 point game becomes an integral part of their offense and Mike Miller and James Jones will more than be willing to fill that void with over 40% on three pointers. Players like Bosh and Haslem, and even Lebron have also shown the ability to also easily make a 20 foot jumper. Over the course of 30 games, they have shown it has worked, even against above .500 teams. I'll be very interested to see what happens on Christmas day. Until then, just wait.

As I said, the Heat should be more concerned with their rebounding ability than their offense.

I don't buy the argument that it wasn't a classic series because of how early it was, that was brilliantly fun for any non-casual fan and just exciting period.
 
The Wolves have somehow cut it to 7. I'm guessing Rambis puts Ridnour back in now to seal this one up. Flynn's playing a little too well.

Yeah it has "worked".

However, against elite teams in the East (the Magic and the Czzz) they are 1-3.

The Detroit Pistons aren't gonna be standing in the way of them getting out the East.

Neither will the Wizards.
 
The Magic aren't elite. Maybe if Arenas becomes awesome again they will be, but they aren't elite.


I just realized that the Magic got the parts to pull off another trade...for Melo.

They have literally the worst assets of any contender in the NBA for getting a robin like Melo.

I wouldn't hold my breath. He won't be back till late January, and probably won't be 100% till February. I doubt he will have any meaningful playoff time as a result.

George Hill is the bigger worry. Its a minor injury but we are about to head into a really tough stretch of the schedule. We really need him. He means so much to us.

Its so sad to see how bad Tiago has been lately. Blair is inconsistent too, so I am still worried about the 5 spot. Dice and Bonner have been excellent at least, though I don't think Dice can play heavy minutes and I don't trust Bonner on defense.

Same here. That series was just fucking crazy. I wish the NBA sold great playoff series on blu-ray. I would buy the Celtics vs Bull 09 in a heart beat.

Sure, I would agree with this. But you can clearly see the Heat as a team are playing much better than they were when they first matched up against the Czzz. I think the biggest and most defining moment will be when the Heat replay the Celtics. And if the exact same thing happens as the previous two games - I'll gladly admit that I was wrong.

J Rich is a true expiring unlike Vince, but the Magic would also have to throw in Bass/Ryan and Jameer too mostly likely with the Magic having to take back Al Nosharrington and Shelden Williams. They could certainly still do it, but I think it's less likely now.

Orlando has a bench full of shooting guards and no back up center

Denver has 5 PF/C on the roster with big contracts that would fit with a Melo trade.

Again with this 'just wait' nonsense... Miami isn't coming out of the East and for them thats a failure of a season.

The team isn't even based on attacking the basket. Its based on LeIso and Wade sucking it up. We all know the basics of simple penetrate dish and all that jazz, but thats not an offense and it never has been. Its one small part of the game. Because Lebron is a fantastic player, it can simply overpower most poor teams and even some bottom barrel playoff teams. Its never worked against a good team over 7 games, ever. And what has Spoelstra's answer to this been so far? A rewards system? That doesn't even work in AAU ball. Hell, I was thinking he'd at least have Bosh moving on offense, flash options off the high and low post, but even that is just too much to ask for out of Miami apparently.

When you look at a perfectly spaced offense like Boston's that adaptable to every playstyle then look at Miami just wing it.... it pisses me off because they could be are supposed to be much, much better. And its got everything to do with guys not even willing to learn or want to be better than they are right now.

Thats my issue.

Also: Haslem ain't coming back (and it wouldn't even matter anyways because Bosh is just an inferior version of Haslem in Miami's playstyle so far) and banking on Mike Miller and James Jones has never worked for any team in the past - why would it work all of a sudden in Miami?

Tiago is only getting 5 minutes a game and his teammates aren't looking to pass it to him even though he sets really good picks and cuts pretty well to the basket. He's good at moving laterally on defense, but I don't think he's going to be an offensive threat that can score on his own. He still is a more talented Oberto.
