Nice shot! Love it
Control yourself Loginius.

I'm sick of this whole Far Cry 3 vs Crysis argument that has been infecting this usually entertaining thread.
I have to imagine most people just enter this thread to gawk at the beautiful screens this community displays, myself included.

What they don't do is show up hoping for some "This game looks dated, lol Crysis" posts that somehow STILL exist, this many years later.
YES Crytek hit it out of the park, no, out of the fucking CITY with their engine, and Crysis is still to this day is a technical marvel that was way ahead of it's time and hardware.
That doesn't mean every game with a beach and a blade of grass needs to be juxtaposed against Cryengine.

More Dishonored. The most beautiful level in my opinion.

Agreed. This whole thing is getting ridiculous. Who the fuck actually cares if it looks like one game or the other on medium? It still looks pretty damn good. Can we all just stop with the useless bantering and enjoy the amazing HQ screenshots everyone is contributing?

Nice shots Jay, Dishonored's art style is really fantastic looking. I don't know how to describe it but that distinct look is really visually appealing. I would contribute shots to the thread, but I'm running my games at 1366x738 :p

I know what you mean. Every level I'm just blown away by the style. And to think it running on UE3 too.

Far Cry's LOD seems abysmal, no wonder it has so much depth of field. Reminds me of objects appearing in Skyrim/Oblivion/Fallout with low ugrids.

I think you are the last person in the world to start lecturing me on IQ.

But people really don't have an imagnation whatsoever apparently. If you can't look at the two images, of a game released in 2012 and one in 2007, where the 2007 shares lots of identical traits on its medium settings with the 2012 game maxed out. Yes, it's a half-way joke but that's still on MEDIUM. There's a few more steps upwards.

No they aren't twin identical, like comparisons people do all the time but they are in the same courthyard and you'd have to want to defend a game pretty badly if you can't look at the comparison and go "Ha, okay sure, with some effects here and there they do look kinda similar".

They're both similar looking in the sense that they're both tropical islands. Besides that FC3 is obviously better looking than medium settings Crysis.

Yall, really, REALLY should play Planetside 2. I've got my share of amazing Steam shots but haven't bothered taking any uncompressed shots as of yet. It's a beast graphically and technically. Puts things like Farcry 3 to absolute shame imo. You can downsample in-engine so anyone can go that route. Not so much texture work in some areas, but the outside shots with the game maxed out from different perspectives combined with the lighting and vehicular maneuvering really impresses.

I agree that Planetside 2 is beautiful and really technically impressive... but it's definitely a game that looks better in motion.

I know this is a screenshot thread, but this video (was posted in the PS2 thread) really shows off how great it looks - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaYNzn8PTl8

What's the point in making huge environments with tons of scale, and then making it look like a miniature by slathering it with tons of depth of field.. ?
There's the DOF and the horrible (?) Level of Detail scaling. Everything a bit far looks like shit seriously. I'm judging from the screenshots as I haven't played it yet. But even from a high point not everything looks blurry and messy in the world... It's a shame because what's in front of view is pretty nice looking.

Planetside 2 can be rough at times (still a lot of low detail textures/geometry), but it's pretty beautiful even in screens. From the PS2 OT:

I wish more of screenshot GAF played it, would like to see more on ultra settings.

It's pretty awesome how the atmosphere of the game completely changes depending on which in-game continent you're playing on.

Gonna try ultra when I get home. I have everything enabled/set to high now and I get 30-40 FPS in battles against bio labs/tech stations, and 60 fps in smaller areas/battles.

(added a small letterbox because the grass starts to disapear on me just before it leaves the screen, no idea why)

Nice screens. What version of ENB are you using and what other visual mods?

Lime's screens on this page are also nice. It would help if people posting Skrim shots with ENB would state what ENB they are using!

Have you uploaded your enb ini anywhere? And if not, would you please? Did you modify anything outside of that?

Jasmin ENB final coupled with this edited enbseries.ini file I mostly tone down the AO and the lighting values, and occasionally disable the DoF.

My earlier shots in the thread are using a modded Jasmin v4.4, but it kind of clashed with my weather mod, so I had to go with the above instead. If you want to try it out, here's the link

AO method used in FC3 looks really bad. It looks great otherwise when alpha AA is turned on for foliage, can't wait to give it a playthrough as the TB wtf is was interesting

Depends, HDAO looks quite good in the game whilst the other two are rubbish.

Why are Skyrim players so in love with sepia tone filters? Is it just a default setting in ENB or something? Looks so bad.

Most of us use a very customised enb so knowing where we started would probably not help.
That said I use a customised version of "The Wilds" ENB with custom DoF (because I like me some bookeh)
I also use darker dungeons and enhanced lights and FX which changes lighting in some interiors.

Other Visual mods:
-W.A.T.E.R
-Texture combinder with a combination of texture mods that I like.
-Some other texture mods that cant be included in the combinder (2k road snow footprints; dramatic clouds; elaborate textiles; real ice; XG Scars; ...)
-3mods that ad a ton of birds flying and sitting around
-CBBE Bodymodels and better males (both with custom textures) +cover khajits + a lot more for characters
-About 3-5 Mods that improve the general features of the races (all npcs) without making them look too young/perfect.
-Automatic Variants with a selection that I like
-many more that I cant remember right now.

There is not a hint of sepia found in my pics?
If they do they probably do so because they like it.
With ENB you can choose a color palette and in which way you want it applied (or just not use any and go with the default skyrim palette)
Should you be talking about indoor "brownish" shots than thats because many ENBs try to simulate somewhat realistc lighting and interiors in skyrim are usualy lit by torches and campfires.

Thanks for the info. Have you uploaded your custom ENB anywhere? I'd be keen to try it out.
