Just preparing my Witcher 2 for Enchanced Edition. I think I have my perfect settings. No AA, Bloom, or Sharpening.

I would love to see Crysis 2 at max settings 1080p without any mods to get an idea of what the game might look like on say one of the budget alienware PCs?? No über sampling or mods...

Funny thing is that it runs better with MaldoHD mod due to the ability to turn off costly features, and its optimisation of tessellation and POM.

@ Moaradin: Can you take screenshots in .PNG or .JPEG, please?

.BMP format images are massive in size.

Have you tried using SMAA or FXAA Injector?

Doesn't JPEG compress a ton on fraps? I'll have to fool around with the settings.

I'm not using SMAA or FXAA. Think I should with it downsampled from 2560 x 1440?

I think the injector could potentially smooth out some of the jaggies.

I don't really know how much FRAPS compresses with .JPEG formats though. Just don't upload them to imgur... :p
I know .PNGs are fine though.

FRAPS .png + minus.com is how I go. Minimum quality loss.

Budget alienware PC? Does something like that even exist? I wouldn't recommend wasting money on something you could buy for half the price.

Okay here is a vanilla, DX9 Crysis 2 screen:

And here is a Maldo, Quality Mod, DX11 scree:

Vanilla Crysis 2 runs at a solid 55fps on my system (i7-2600k, gtx 580, 8gb RAM) and looks quite good, but the nitty gritty things just aren't very impressive. With the modded game (DX11, Maldo, etc.) it runs at a solid 45fps and looks substantially better. I know those two screens are not very good at showing anything off but they give you an idea. Vanilla Crysis 2 DX11 actually runs slights worse than with Maldo mainly because Maldo's mod let you tweak the DX11 settings which you cannot do in the graphics menus.

Catwoman: Arkham City

Everything to Extreme, Tessellation set to high. 16xAF, and AA= 32xCSAA through the Batman Launcher + 3360x2100 downsampled to 1680x1050. I still see jaggies =\

How can you play with all of that sharpening? It makes my eyes bleed.

1. go to Witcher 2 user.ini -> Disable Sharpening and Post AA
2. Inject SMAA or FXAA
3. Profit

I'd love to use SMAA but I already have a magical d3d9.dll file in my Witcher 2 directory that stops the game from stuttering. Is there a way to use more than one d3d9.dll file in the same directory?

What do you mean by stuttering?

Like in this video.

But never mind, I tinkered around with the stuttering issue myself and managed to fix it without the use of the aforementioned d3d9.dll file. Just had to limit my FPS to 30 in RadeonPro and now the stuttering is gone and I can use all the SMAA or FXAA that I want :)

If only Skyrim supported DX11 and Bethesda released their textures at the res they authored them at, it could have been one of the best looking games ever made.

Diablo 3's art direction is so awful it legitimately depresses me. It's up there with ME3's ending as one of those things I just don't want to ever think about.

Still not feeling this. Give me 100 Diablo IIIs over a single Path of Exile.

^^^ MoP also looking amazing. Blizz slaying your faves on all fronts.

That's because you're playing at 1680x1050 even if you're internally rendering at a much higher res. Even at 1080p with tons of SSAA you'll still get some jagginess as it's not a high enough res to completely eliminate them. I imagine you'll need at least a 1440p monitor to get flawless image quality.

I might lack the hardware grunt to supersample Crysis 2 (oh how I wish I could), but the game still looks nice.

Or inject FXAA to get the rest of them. It's not ideal, but it helps!

Games where I can supersample (or SGSSAA) have spoiled me. Getting rid of poly aliasing is easy. But shader aliasing? Boo-urns. Playing games like ME3 with SGSSAA cleans up the shaders so deamn nicely. The whole image looks crisp and clean. Just going with MSAA though you only clean up the poly edges.

Like the fence in the background of that second Crysis 2 show I posted. The edges are aliased, but the shader shining in the fire isn't. Kills the IQ and I cant unsee it :(.

Yeah it drives me nuts, too. I've started using Adaptive AA more often with my AMD card because, from what I understand, on things like fences and trees it supersamples, and for everything else it uses MSAA. Best of both worlds, basically, but at a performance cost a lot of times.

Figured. I actually have a 1440p monitor...that is in the process of being RMA'ed due to it dying. My 1680x1050 is my back up monitor, funny thing is with the custom EDID this monitor actually can display 3360x2100 without problems. (Had it running at that resolution for 4 consecutive months, but font was so small I couldn't deal).

The art style is fine, the texture quality and the polygon count is pathetic.

I'd call it good for business. They made it as simple as possible but not simpler. And as a result I can run it on my MBP and it'll still look great. Otherwise I wouldn't have bought a copy.

Nice screens. And those batman screens look insane, didn't notice any jaggies from here. Looks clear & crisp too. Wish I had an idea how to do all that downsampling. I have the software just don't know how to go about it. I'm on a 1600 screen too, hard to go about it without taking a fps hit.
