2012 High-Res PC Screenshot Thread of Don't Use Imgur

I'm using a 70 fov setting for both fov settings ( the near one and the "other" one, forgot the name ). As for AA I'm using the FXAA high setting from Maldo HD's config in conjunction with ingame/realtime downsampling from 2560x1440 to 1920x1080.

Gah, thought so. Crysis 2's AA solutions leave me woefully unsatisfied.

well actually, I'm not on a 2560x1440 monitor anymore. Plain ol' 1920x1080 for me nowadays but this guide, http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=346325, enables you to use realtime downsampling in any game and in games that lack good options it's a godsend. Pretty much beats any other AA out there but to the sad price of a ~50% performance hit across all games.

I tried the very same guide when I had a 2560x1440 monitor and was trying to play at higher res' than that but it didn't work, but following it step by step now finally worked for me.

You tempt me with new and strange AA solutions Corky. I like it!

Glad you were finally able to get downsampling working, Corky. :)

Me too, I never managed to go to resolutions like 3840x2160, matter of fact anything above 2560x1440 is a no go right now. Oh well, not like I would be able to play above those resolutions anyway.

I remember trying to play Crysis 2 at 3840x2160 once. It was the most beautiful slideshow I'd ever seen. BTW are you noticing a contrast change when you switch from 1920x1080 to anything higher? I think I remember The English Conquistador mentioning it to me a while back at which point I started noticing it too. Just wondering if it happens with other people who downsample.

You managed to reach 3840x2160 with custom edids and stuff right?

On the subject of contrast change, the picture becomes slightly brighter ( albeit very small difference ) from the few games I've tried.

Yep.

Okay, cool. I was actually wondering for a long time whether or not that happens to anyone else who downsamples. Still, I wonder why there's any color or contrast difference at all. With me, my contrast noticeably goes up (in a good way) and the colors get slightly richer. Anyway, thanks for clearing that up for me.

I wish I was able to downsample games in real time, but I'm already playing at 1440p and I can't imagine I would get a very playable framerate if I went up in resolution even more.

Also, I was replaying the opening bit, right to the end, and I came across this, right before the Armour Mode tutorial, and it kind of shocked me as to how amazing Maldo's textures are.

Cool, thanks. How are you changing your FOV though? Config edit?

Nope with Maldo HD mod you can change both fov settings by pressing either F10 or F11, ranging ~50-85 in different fovs. Really comes in handy, though I've quite fallen for the 70/70 setting, that combined with everything else that makes crysis 2 mindblowing visually speaking makes the game look like a techdemo while playing ( in the best sense ).

Corky is making me reinstall Crysis 2... No idea if downsampling works on AMD cards though.

It doesn't through drivers, but in DX11 mode you can use the SSAA tool, which is what I do. I'm playing downsampled from 2880x1620. Seems there's a new version of it that's been released since I last downloaded it, too.

For my AA settings, I'm playing downsampled and have all in-game AA disabled and injected newer FXAA instead. The FXAA the game uses is older and blurs more.

My last AMD card was an HD 4890 so my knowledge isn't up to date, but, as far as I know, you can't downsample with an AMD card unless you're running Windows XP or using a third party tool. There used to be a pretty popular one that I used, but the guy who developed it stopped updating it a long time ago.

Edit: the SSAA tool scitek linked to is the one I'm talking about. It should also work in DX10. :)
Edit #2: Wow. TB actually updated it this year.

Cool, thanks guys. Could not get it to work with any games yet sadly. They either crash or it simply refuses to work. (should we make a thread?)

Thanks mate. Installed Maldo HD. Can't get any FOV editing to work though, outside of the vertical option in the config launcher. F10/F11 appear to be doing nothing.

Most of all I'm happy to disable performance murdering particle shadows and the awful grain filter. The game seems to run better using the Maldo HD mod, which is weird, as everything is cranked.

I've only gotten it to work with DX10/11 games. Crysis 1, 2, and Warhead, Bioshock 1 and 2, Just Cause 2, and Arkham City. Most other DX9 games let you force SSAA through drivers, so I didn't see the need to try it. I might give it a go with Space Marine since I can't force proper AA there.

Space Marine is DX9, isn't it? Did a quick try and no luck.
I really think we need a place to discuss this. This tool is new to me and if it works (well.. doesnt for me) it's quite a revelation for amd users I guess.

The amount of detail on that pistol is ridiculous. Glad you were finally able to get downsampling working, Corky. :)

I installed the 300.xx beta drivers with native Driver-Level FXAA (doesn't show up in Screenshots or video though) and my old 295.xx down-sampling resolutions are still in and working...
-FYI I used the multiples of my native res 1680x1050:

Out of curiosity, what are your exact settings for that 3360x2100 res? I must be doing something wrong, I managed to force 2560x1440 on my 1080p monitor but using anything higher than 2560x1440 gives me the error message "please use 1920x1080@60hz for this monitor"...

I know it's not everyone's favorite here, but Blizzard am gods, so Mists of Pandaria beta! (Crysis 2? pfffft, here's some ~9 year old engine for you! =P)

MoP is amazing looking. Blizzard is SLAYING in art direction right now. I can't wait to see Diablo 3 up close.

I will put this is in the kindest way I can when I say I'm not seeing it.

I'm pretty sure I've seen better Okami emu shots.

It's the WoW crazies. They come out every so often, post some... let's call it questionable stuff and then praise the "art". Don't worry, they'll leave soon.

Yes, we certainly can't have diversity in here and any sort respect for people's postings around here, that would be bad.

As somebody with no dog in the fight. Meaning, I don't play WoW. I can appreciate those shots of pandaria. I enjoy seeing a good range of shots, from all kinds of games. If someone said they're technically better than something like Crysis 2, then of course they'd be crazy. But I don't think there's anything crazy about saying it's a nice looking game.

Most people respect every kind of post, some people just crave attention or something and needs to do posts like that.

EDIT: TheVampire, you said you were making your own ENB, what are you basing it off - Ice 1.35?

But trying to make my own is being a real bitch.
Its hard and theres no info on how to tweak those enbeffect.fx files etc..

Say about WoW what you want - as a non-player, I must admit Blizzard fucking nailed the artstyle for this game.

AND THOSE TW2 SCREENSHOTS MY GOD
Is this the vanilla version? And are there any mods for it?
