My fantasy hopes fall on the Bears tonight. My opponent was projected to win by about 15 and I got the game I needed from him, he only put up 95 points (and has NO's kicker tonight). But then my team underperformed gloriously as well, handing me just 65 points, and so I need Forte and Martellus Bennet to get me about 40 points to have a shot. Yahoo's updated projections have me at a 53% / 47%, but that only translates out to about 2 points.
2 leagues. 1 I'm almost a lock for the championship, and the other I look pretty good if Graham shows up even a little tonight.
Feels pretty good to have my WR heavy approach validated this year. RBs simply aren't worth the risk. Give me a bunch or late round guys and let me see who pans out. Stack WR.
I am with you on that WR-heavy philosophy though it definitely didn't work out for me this year... I ended up with crap at WR and worked hard to put together a productive but lousy bunch. If you're in a deep PPR league, it's almost definitely better to go WR, TE, and QB, and try to get RBs on the waiver wire. The thing with a good fantasy running back is if he gets hurt, his backup is probably going to be pretty good too. This happened with countless backs this year, and there's probably a solid chunk of the 20 or so top performing backs who weren't drafted... and then tons of guys who were drafted who weren't any better or worse.
Unless you can get a sure fire lock of an elite RB in the first round, a guy like Forte, Demarco, or Jamaal Charles, i think it's better to get a top WR or TE.
But looking at your team, you must have a pretty shallow league or playing with people who don't watch football. I'm in a 14 team league so getting AJ Green, Hilton, Bryant, and Lacy would be impossible. It'd be almost impossible to get 2 of those guys.

So doing a little research, I agree with your philosophy. Here's screenshots of the Top 25 performing WRs and Top 25 performing RBs:
I've highlighted players in orange who were probably either not drafted in most drafts or drafted very low... late round.
RBs:
WRs:
Now these might be different from league to league, but generally, you have a lot of high performing WR's in a PPR league outscoring the majority of running backs, and only a handful of those top 25 WRs went undrafted or drafted late. I'm thinking maybe the rookies like Mike Evans or Odel Beckhams went undrafted.
In PPR, top 25 vs top 25, WR's typically out perform RBs, and good ones get swallowed up while high-producing RBs are available on the wire throughout the year.
