That is true, but for whatever reason it seems to handle resizing differently.

Here's a 1440 shot downsampled to 720 (bicubic sharper) using the Save As... menu:

And here's the same shot, again using bicubic sharper, using the Save for Web menu:

The save for web file is about ~70KB smaller but looks blurrier for some reason.

There's been Dark Souls, Remember Me, BF, CoD, GTA, Dead Island, Borderlands, AC, Alice, Portal and even Halo screenshots on the last page alone.
So I don't really understand the complaint... :\

Some GTA... no cars or buildings :P

I have absolutely no Idea. The resolution thing Durante is working on doesn't work with windowed so I never really looked into it. The combat is very different, though. Enemies don't take turns hitting you. Just remember you can cancel any attack by dodging, and you don't have to dodge in any direction.

Haven't seen too many Mirrors Edge or Crysis shots recently, as in the last few days...

Well, I know for a fact that most of us don't get paid for this. So when you can choose between a game that's got pre-existing tools to screenshot with and one that's going to fight back at you every step of the way, you're most likely going to choose the first. Like said earlier, there's a pretty wide selection of games being posted ATM, and if that's not enough, then I doubt anybody will object to you or anyone adding their own flavor to the pot.

I'd never actually beat Remember Me until just recently, and I decided I was going to get everything I could from that game. I just quit my job, and am helping out around the house, as well as getting ready for next semester and looking for a new job. Can't go spending on too much, so grinding in Warframe and screenshotting/beating other games is what I got.


In a world with PhilpGT, Rösti and TheVampire, how can you get bored?

Yarr. That's why when I went looking for a game to shoot, I figured I'd try Dead Island. When I first played it, I didn't even know what downsampling was. Nor would I have given half a fuck if there was a developer menu because I didn't care to cheat in games.

Now I can crank the resolution up and use that dev menu for it's one true purpose: screenshots. They aren't going to be the most amazing screenshots but it's something different for now.

Some people do that. Very few though :P Helps if you can create a journalism piece to go along with them.

I was going to post this shot earlier but there's a weird water glitch thing that happens and it was too hard to photoshop out of this one =(

Your shots make me want to get a better graphics card so i can finish ACR, then play 3, then play AC Liberation, then play AC4.

EDIT:: What are the chances of say, a website where you, myself, and some other known screenshotters, can get together, and post about/discuss the various quirks of screenshotting. For example, screenshotting culture, methods, history, per-game analysys, strategies, isms, and maybe our opinions on the tech/art behind the games, as well as linking to our own galleries of screenshots? It would be sort of like the compendium, but with more info on each game and screenshotting as a whole. Just a thought. IF something like that were to be made, I'd be all in.

EDIT EDIT::: Just realized that's kind of like what the DET Flickr Group does... :D

I never finished Revelations. At the time I was catching up on Assassin's Creed so I powered through AC2 and then Brotherhood... but it started to feel like a bit more of the same. Then AC3 came along which was bloody terrible. So I didn't come close to finishing that. AC4 on the other hand... good game. Played it start to finish.

It kinda does... but very rarely do people say anything in the discussions. It's kind of a niche thing I suppose.

You should go back and do winter shots of AC3 even though you didn't like it. Do it for the thread.

Sorry. Just saw this. So is it like a "new engine" where they've really just taken the old one and added features on top and improved it? Or is it like... brand new built from the ground up?

Because often times, it's the former, regardless of what the devs actually say (Skyrim, AC4, etc etc). So basic mechanics code for movement, combat, camera, etc is exactly the same.

I'll look into it.... but holy crap is it going to be difficult to plow through that beginning section. I hated it so much. In fact if someone could just upload a save file where you start in a snowy area, that'd be best :P

I had more motivation to work on the camera system (that better people even improved upon) for AC4 because I was enjoying that game a lot. And I thought the setting would make for better screenshots than what I saw in AC3 so far.

Yes! Please take more take Dark Souls shots. I really want to see what you can come up with in regards to using the psuedo free cam. I have not been very creative with it so far. Sorry about that root canal tho!
 
I'm kinda working on getting images of skyrim that really look like they're from a movie camera. I have made efforts to get some of the 'anamorphic' look of many film lenses. As of now the CA is a bit much, and the noise was added in PS.

Needs a bit more grey, imo for a movie. Otherwise awesome shot.

Can you link me to the mod to free the camera movement?? Or is it something your wrote that you want to keep for yourself?

The Cheat Engine freecam seems to crash my game when I'm in offline mode.

Also, the DSFix pause doesn't work for me.

The hud hide works. Toggling Borderless Fullscreen works. Toggling the cursor works. But no pause :(

Have you tried changing the key? mine didn't work until I changed it from default to F9.

Sorry I meant the default F9 to something else. Looking at Durante's post, I must have changed it along with unlocking the frame rate but incorrectly thought changing keys was the way to fix it.

That worked. Sadly, the free camera doesn't work while the game is timestopped. In fact, I can't even rotate teh camera left and right. Only up and down. So I'm not sure how the pause can be used for screenshots.

That being said, the cheat engine free camera is a LOT better than it used to be. And if you set a hotkey in cheat engine to change the camera movespeed to a negative value, you can move it backwards, as well as straight up and down.

But now it seems I can't even get the free camera to work without crashing the game so I pretty much give up.
