2014 Microsoft E3 Conference

Loved all the focus on Co-Op games!

Can't wait to play Sunset Overdrive, Evolve and Crackdown! Fable looked meh and I don't know what to think about the Platinum Games exclusive.

MS really doubled down on its 18-35 male demographic and its established IPs including resurrections from the original Xbox.

I think why people aren't hyped is that, aside from Halo and Forza, many people weren't really excited for Crackdown and Phantom Dust the first time around, so for people who wanted to be sold on the platform, it was deflating. MS is trying to sell its IP brand power with games that don't have much of that to offer.

The originals of those last two games you mentioned were brilliant. People can be down in them all they want, doesn't change the fact that they are awesome!

May I ask why so many of you are disappointed by third party games being shown at the conference? It's important to associate your platform with all games. Not every consumer knows it'll be multiplatform.

In a perfect world the conferences would be all first party games for us hardcore fans, but that's not a very smart business decision.

Way too much time was given to 3rd parties. The focus should be primarily on Xbox exclusives. They did this perfectly last year. This year it was all about showing off 3rd party games/series that are generic. I'm not interested in any of those 3rd parties. Let them have their own conferences and announce stuff. I don't need to see 10 minutes of Call of Duty and 10 minutes of Witcher 3 in an Xbox event.

Decent conference.
The opening half being snore-inducing did it no favors.
I haven't played older MS franchises (Crackdown, Phantom Dust) so those announcements didn't really do anything for me. Too much CG, but then again, that's the business we're in. Some solid titles in the line-up though. They said they were going to show games, and by god, they did just that, so hats off. I'd say it was a successful venture.

Far better than this EA conference.
Jesus Christ.

A lot of people thought it wasn't really a great presser. Especially not after Phil Spencer's hyping. It was solid. Nothing more.
It has nothing to do with "undermine everything MS does".

A lot of people thought it was a really great presser. I'd love to know what would've made it great for those who didn't like it. Why was it only solid? Lack of games? Some guys here talk like they expected Spencer to come on stage on a hoverboard.

Can we put the sanctioned leak conspiracy to rest? I can't think of many reasons why a platform holder would voluntarily take the wind out of the entirety of their e3 conference.

People have been disappointed by third party multiplatform demos in every first party conference ever.

It's seen as filler taking the place of potential megatonz, and they usually involve the most unsurprising sequels.

Lots of awesome games get overlooked or fail to grab mindshare all the time (see: Platinum Games). Doesn't detract from their quality, but if they couldn't do that the first time, no one should expect them to now, especially with Xbox being in its current situation.

I was expecting bigger things and less CG. Halo collection is a good value but I've played those games to death years ago. Phantom Dust is nice but again just a remake. Thought they'd be bringing more heavy-hitting exclusives.

Because they're all games that will end up playing and looking better on PS4, and which I'll buy on that platform. They're not reasons to buy an X1, and that's what MS needs more than anything. Much like Sony last gen, they have to rely on a good amount of exclusives, and so far they haven't delivered. The games they did announce are years off (Crackdown and Platinum are probably 2016).

Seeing Tomb Raider, AC, Evolve is great all but I just think, awesome, can't wait to play that on PS4. I shouldn't be thinking that in an Xbox conference which is pretty vital for them.

You get what I"m saying?

MS are publishing that.

There wasn't one, let alone multiple ones as some GAFfers predicted.

Third party exclusives are dead.

bu bu I was told that microsofts pockets could buy anything!

They said their show was about "Games, Games,. and Games!"
when in reality it was "Multiplat Games,. Multiplat Games, and Multiplat Games!"

Agreed. That announcement may very well have "won" E3 for Microsoft. And the game itself may help turn the tide for the Xbone.

I dunno man. I'm a huge Halo fan (more of a Bungie fan than a Halo fan but still) and while I'm excited to see 343i do this, this doesn't make me want to go out and buy an Xbox One. If I had an Xbox One, it would be a definite buy but it isn't making me want to drop $400 on the system itself. I plan on getting an Xbox One and when I do, I will pick this up but I'm not in a hurry.

I know it's just my opinion out of a sea of millions but I don't see this being an ultimate system seller. That's all.

Solid, albeit safe, presser overall. MS did well.

Great show.

I'm more excited about MS's exclusives than Sony's...but I'll probably pick up the mufti-plats for PS4 though. So yea...barring any surprises by Sony tonight (Uncharted 4 is about the only thing I'm interested in) I think MS will take the games crown again this E3

Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive, Halo 1-4, Crackfuckingdown? How can anybody claim that gaming is their hobby and turn their noses up at that lineup? Don't understand it myself.
Again? They didn't have it last year. And I mean, they had some nice surprises, but we'll see where things stand tonight before claiming victors or losers.

In the end it's really about tastes.

I'm hesitant to say that Sony or Nintendo will "slay" MS just because their presentation was just decent. If past E3s have taught me anything is that all three companies are capable of blowing it.

Extremely underwhelming. Multi-plats that probably weren't even running on XB1 and trailers with no gameplay at all. Highlight was definitely Sunset Overdrive. Halo collection sounds pretty cool for fans of the franchise too.

PS4 has no games, and multiplats don't count so I figure the sentiment goes both ways?

Okay that's fair but Sony was no killing it in first 2 years of PS3

Great conference. If Sony does better good for gamers. I wish that they had mass effect, fallout, or a elder scrolls game their for sure, but that's about all it was missing for me. Something blizzard would be cool too, but they seem to be like bungie in the sony camp with their games for show.

Yes, the original Crackdown was great. Then it was followed up with garbage, so why should I have any faith in the third? It might not even be a 2015 title.

We clamor for leaks

We get said leaks

Then when the leaks turn out to be true

It's no longer a "Megaton Announcement"

And the conference is a disappointment.

To be fair though, were any of the MS leaks really a Megaton? Or have we watered down the use of that term so much that Halo 1-4 rehash and Crackdown would now be considered "Megatons"?

They will perform better and sale better on ps4, microsoft's e3 was just a pre e3 ps4 conference. The exclsuive dlc wont help them when ps4 is closing in on a 4 million gap.

It was ok I guess but I didn't really see anything that grabbed me by the nuts and said "You must buy a Xbone". A bit disappointed to be honest.

Okay that's fair but Sony was no killing it in first 2 years of PS3

Sony was in a pretty bad situation, but they had a strong global presence to survive on. MS has no such thing, they needed to get people buying X1s now, and E3 was their chance.

Don't get me wrong, Platinum's game is something I'm looking forward to, I'll likely buy an X1 for it but if it's coming out in 2016, it's irrelevant now, when MS most needs it.

Nothing in the conference makes me say "I need an X1 this year". A remake, SO, and Forza Horzion 2 (I'll settle for the 360 version this year), and inferior multiplats. MS needs exclusives to differentiate themselves.

The majority of first party stuff being CG was disappointing... I man can only watch so many non-gamplay Halo trailers in his life.

That said, Sunset Overdrive looks amazing. That is going to be a block buster this fall.
&
The Limbo team's, 'Inside' looks visually stunning, semi-reminds me of Another World's visual style.

Most have DLC first on Xbox. That's what they are betting on.

But anyway, MS showing multigames is nothing new. I'm disappointed but they have to do that since multigames are everything nowadays.

MS had a really strong show, but closing it off with Crackdown was a pretty big downer for me since I have zero interest in the series. I was expecting Phil Spencer to introduce one last game, but oh well.

Still a good show.

Can we put the sanctioned leak conspiracy to rest? I can't think of many reasons why a platform holder would voluntarily take the wind out of the entirety of their e3 conference.
True that. I'm boycotting reading leaks anymore too. Surprise me Gamescon. Surprise me TGS. I'm done with
game
leaks.

lol very true.

Never forget we're all gamers, so it doesn't matter who "wins", as long as no one "loses" - ultimately it's the gamer who loses. Tribal mentality is never good. I'm happy my XBone friends can replay Halo and get a new Forza, as most everyone I know who purchased the console done so exactly for those reasons - more Halo, more Forza.

A lot of people thought it was a really great presser. I'd love to know what would've made it great for those who didn't like it. Why was it only solid? Lack of games? Some guys here talk like they expected Spencer to come on stage on a hoverboard.

If I were looking to get an Xbox One, I'd be looking at actual reasons to why I might want one. They presented exactly two games:Crackdown and that new Platinum game. For Phil
"GAMES GAMES GAMES" Spencer, I was expecting more exclusive content because that you cannot remotely possibly get on the desktop or PS4.

If you already had an Xbox, I guess its OK. If you don't have an Xbox, it was a garbage conference that gives you little reason to get one unless you must have that Halo Collection pack.

I don't have either the XBO or the PS4, the Microsoft conference was really good but not really good enough to sell me on their console yet. As a gamer though I don't know what more you'd want from an E3 conference, not a lot of corporate propaganda. They showed a lot of what was perceived as gameplay so I think they did well.
I'm excited to see what Sony tries to do to entice me as a customer, seems like a pretty good time to not have chosen any primary console yet.

There was nothing wrong with showing multiplatform games, it's not like they spent much time on shit like sales numbers and services.

They trimmed a ton of fat versus previous years.

DLC has never impacted my decision on buying games, not when MS does, not when Sony do it. I'd rather go with the better version.

bu bu I was told that microsofts pockets could buy anything!

So Multiplat games aren't games now
, well done for that post. Microsoft will never do right in the eyes of some. Like when Sony showed indie game, ohhhh I forgot those are considered games. They showed plenty of exclusives. As I think Sony will too

So what do we expect Sony to show? The same multiplayer games? If so, then damn. Of course a few exclusives, but damn.

But whatever, show me pie charts.
