And then they would let you right back in it at around the 10 minute mark of the 2nd half like they do every time they get a big lead...

That's because Beilein is a terrible end game coach and doesn't make great adjustments.. He reminds me of Jamie Dixon in that regard..

I didn't even pick my team to go to the Final Four so if they make it they will have surprised me.. And tbh, no team is elite this year.. There are no Memphis 07, or UNC 08..

Dont you mean Florida 07 and Kansas 08? UNC won in 09 after getting mostly dominated by Kansas the yr before.

09 UNC is a little overrated imo. That core lost to G'town in the E8, then got convincingly handled by Kansas the yr following. Why are they considered such a dominant recent champ?

Florida this yr as a number one overall seed shows how down this yr is in college basketball. Essentially the same core of guys got trashed last yr by Michigan in the E8, got beat by Louisville 2 yrs ago, and a Butler team sans Gordon Hayward took them out in overtime 3 yrs ago.

Florida is an excellent defensive team, very cohesive unit, but offensively they are pedestrian by number one seed standards. MSU healthy, is every bit their equal defensively (see what they did against no. 1 off Mich in the B1G title game)....and Gary Harris, Payne and Dawson are exponentially more gifted offensive players than anyone on Florida.

MSU is beating Florida assuming they get by UConn in MSG tomorrow.

You kidding? The worst player on that starting five was a legit Finals MVP candidate barely 10 months ago.

No team in recent history had such a dominant tournament run. They lost to FSU in the ACC Semis (because Roy) then they...never played another close game that year.

I don't agree with using prior year results as judgement on how a team played in a later year.

Pretty much the same Duke core (minus Grant Hill) had the worst loss in the history of the NCAA Championship game in 1990. Doesn't stain the 91/92 titles.

reading through the last few pages, I'm just gonna say let's go Michigan tomorrow

and then fuck them when they play Wisconsin afterwards

I think when the core players are relatively the same, we can and should use those results when you're evaluating who the strongest champs were. 08 Kansas handled 08 UNC which was very similar to the 09 team, plus 08 Kansas beat Derrick Rose led Memphis, that's a better scalp than 09 UNC beating a Nova team that shoud've been Pitt, and an overachieving 09 MSU (that wouldn't touch 99 or 00 MSU, or even 01 or 05 MSU).

06-07' Florida
12' Kentucky
08' Kansas
I'd take all the teams above clearly above 09' UNC. Florida unquestionably was better w/ back to back titles, great balance, Noah and Horford.
12' Kentucky - loaded, loaded team, could have been undefeated if not for Christian Watford and boredom in the sec title game against vanderbilt. Anthony Davis >anyone on 09' UNC.
08' Kansas decisively beat 08' UNC - that should end the discussion.

00' MSU - tougher, more battle tested team that 09 UNC.
05' UNC - this one is interesting. Lawson > Felton, McCants v Ellington is a wash, Danny Green > Jackie Manuel, 05''s frontcourt with Sean May playing possessed, Jawad Williams and Marvin Williams is a big advantage over Hansborough n' company. I thought watching both title teams, 05' UNC was more mentally tough + physical + hard nosed than the 09 team. Would be a great game, but I think 05' UNC would win by a hair.

Let me say that I think UNC 09' was a great team, offensively they were tremendous, but their scalps aren't overly impressive, (for example, 05' UNC took out 05' Illinois, one of the best teams to not win a title, and 05 MSU which is better than 09 MSU).
The choking to G'town in the E8......getting mostly dominated by 08 Kansas, I know it's different years, but this entire discussion is mythical matchups so the more data the better. Plus 09' UNC wasn't exactly dominant in the regular season (though I blame that on boredom).

KenPom rankings have KU '08 by a decent margin as the best team in recent memory. They had the #2 O and #1 D, no other team has rivaled that. Next best teams are last years Louisville team followed by '12 Kentucky.

You're just assuming that players don't improve from year to year, and that's patently false. The leap Lawson made from 08 to 09 was Chris Paul-esque. 09 UNC also had a legitimate shot blocker in Ed Davis that they sorely missed in the 08 game.

By the way, look at that D Rose Memphis team again. It was basically Derrick Rose and a bunch of role players who shouldn't have gotten there if Ben Howland knew how to coach a basketball team

Today will be good. I'm mad nervous, though. Hopefully the results are switched from the last time we played Michigan in the tourney.

oh UConn now hasn't scored on their past 5 possessions. Guys, both teams are very good. There will be runs back and forth in this game

Sparty really lucky this is happening against UConn and not Florida.

They'll still have a fighting shot once they get their heads out of their asses.
