2015 Console Screenshot Thread (PS4, XB1, Wii U) [READ OP!]

What do you mean, just out of curiosity?

Internet forum board conversations on sensitive/unpopular topics really aren't my thing since IMO they are mostly futile because you get pileups and bullying going on because of the internet tough guy mentality. I've found it very hard to have an respectful, well articulated and intelligent conversation this way.
Plus I type slow.
:p
I would gladly chat with anyone on XBL though if any of you are actually serious. However, I should warn you that I take things seriously and am a very passionate person when it comes to my beliefs so we could end up talking for hours lol.

Example:
I pulled up to a gas station with my wife and son in the car where a slightly over middle aged man was shouting at people about their political bumper stickers and while I was filling up I asked him a question and he went off on me calling me a hippie, etc. I ended up talking with him for 2 hours trying to calm him down and have an meaningful and understanding conversation. It ended with him in tears and a hug with us both understanding each other. Turns out he was a city council member. I don't like to give up on people and I don't think that would have happened online.

I can only assume he doesn't support GTA V's excessive violence and promotion of gang culture, not to mention various other illegal activities players can participate in.

;)

Oh, I thought you meant the micro-transactions and all that crap. Fair enough. :)

Thanks. :)

Now, this is my first panorama. Am I doing it right?

Sunset Overdrive, XB1 screenshot share function, Full RGB, 6 picture Panorama using Microsoft Photosynth.

This thread could use some additional rules IMO consider image compression and such akin to the PC screens thread. Some shots in here are pretty darn compressed, especially if you compare them tot he nice raw images being pumped out in this thread by other users.

For PS4 they would need capture cards to get PNG and uncompressed, best they could do is avoid shots that have a lot of compression and post only the near uncompressed ones.

You guys just need to see it in live screen. I have played Ryse fully maxed but The Order is on a whole another level. A game which truly reaches CGI level of graphical quality on a console.

Ehh, I don't know. I don't want to prevent people from posting screens just because the quality isn't excellent. And that's not to mention that the only way 95+% of the people here who post PS4 screenshots are able to is because the built-in functionality of the PS4, which compresses them fairly heavily. You can't expect there to only be three or four people posting PS4 screens.

It's different on the PC, where everybody can use the same, free method to take uncompressed screenshots.

The biggest rule needed is no editing.

If your console doesn't capture correctly then deal with it. Photoshop to 'fix' colours shouldn't be allowed in here. What's next, removing aliasing in Photoshop? And as nice as the stitched images look, they too belong in the http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=747079 thread.

That's unfair, as some users - myself included - are, for the meantime, limited to uploading to Facebook or Twitter, both of which compress the hell out of images. I admit the photos would look nicer at their true, native resolution with no compression, but until us few users either find a way to transfer via USB or Sony strike a deal with Flickr (or they allow you to upload to Abload directly from the system) then you'll just have to make do.

Hmm. The thing about the colors is, what they are posting here without any changes is not indicative of how it looks on their TV. Therefore, they have to "fix" the screenshots to get it in line with what the game really looks like. It's an inherent problem with the way XB1 captures the screenshots. Until they hopefully do something about that, it's unrealistic to expect people to change to Full RGB any time they want to take a screenshot. And they also shouldn't have to "deal with" having screenshots that don't look like the game they're playing.

Now, if people were changing colors for reasons besides fixing the problem with the screenshot-taking method of the XB1, that would be a real issue. You don't really see that happen, though, as evidenced by never encountering the problem before the XB1 screenshots came to be.

What would that be? The most convenient and lightweight way seems to be through Steam (with compression off) but that doesn't work in a lot of games. Print screen is horrible. The few freeware programs I've used were almost as bad.

Fraps, Bandicam, MSI Afterburner.

Doesn't Fraps use a non-trivial amount of resources? I always see people excusing lower than normal frame rates by saying that was with Fraps on.

Thanks. :)

Nice job! I love making (and seeing) stuff like that.

Fraps uses no resources when taking screenshots, that's only for recording footage.

Ah, thanks. Costs money, though. I'll try Afterburner next.

I've seen USB thumbdrives for <$3. Or if you have an Android device you can use that, either as USB storage or through the Playstation app.

The free version takes BMPs that you can convert to whatever.

If you're taking screenshots it doesn't cost a dime.

I think people should be able to remove black bars, watermarks, resize, and stitch images together as they already do in the PC thread. Everything else does belong in the edited thread.

I agree. People using the PS4 share button need to get a USB stick and some proper hosting.

This removes some color and adds a little more compression on top, but it's not as bad as Twitter or FB uploads.

This is very true. I've been looking for good stuff to show a workmate here, but nothing I've found online looks as good or as sharp as it does on my TV, in motion. YouTube can give a sense of what this game offers, but the actual in-your-face visuals and in-your-ears audio have to be experienced for yourself.

^^is that Infamous SS? Why is Delsin melting?
It's one of his powers he obtains. I don't know if it counts as a spoiler or not.

It's the same screenshot as before, just at a higher resolution. Sent it to a friend via PSN, logged in to the PS app, saved the photo, uploaded to Abload and...bam!

This is a great image to show the benefit of SSR. Self-reflection of objects.

somewhat off topic, but a while back you asked which recent games i thought had higher res reflections than BF hardline. driveclubs are much higher, and evolves are a good deal higher as well.
