Decently solid showing but Larah Croft's face was a big WTF moment for me. Don't like it at all for who her character is supposed to be. Like a small frail flower child face on a character that is supposed to be a badass.

Did you even play the first Tomb Raider game? She looks the same. Also why do people keep saying that Tomb Raider isn't an exclusive game?

9/10

I like how people discount the new reveals to fit their narrative of "no new reveals."

Inafune. The new rare game looks fantastic. Rare collection will be fantastic. Quite a few console exclusive indie reveals that look good (ashen caught my eye).

A good portion of live or recorded actual gameplay for a lot of the games, including Halo, Gears, and Tomb Raider. New hardware and features.

I think there are just a lot of sour grapes in this thread...

Looking forward to all the other shows today.

I mean that depends on your viewpoint right? I watch the MS conference looking for reasons to buy a Xbox One. Tomb Raider looks rad but I'm going to buy that on PC anyway. Halo, Gears and Forza don't interest me in the slightest. The new Rare game did nothing for me. Recore looks really interesting but they didn't show enough to pass judgement yet. So overall there wasn't a lot that grabbed me. For the people who like that stuff it was a solid to good conference for sure but not for me.

Really looking forward to a ton of these.

Also, Black Flag sucked...returned it after 2 weeks of having it. Wanted a good Pirates game, so I'm curious about the Rare Pirate game (although I'm not an MMO fan).

A 6.5/10 for me. It was a good conference but it was not spectacular. They are paying for years of complacency in the first party department and it's going to take them a while to build that up again. I don't believe that Hololens demo for a second. They have failed to get 2 versions of Kinect working and their failure in hardware products speaks for itself. Until i test it out myself, i won't believe it. Unfortunately, this conference hasn't given me a reason to purchase an xbox one. There were some interesting titles but none that made me say, I must have it now.

The Rare game, Cuphead and that Inafune-thingie were very interesting, but man, as far as unexpected megaton game announcements ( holy shit, THIS game is on Xbone?! I need to buy this console ASAP) there was...nothing.
It was very very safe.

Sony has a chance to take this home. Gears 4 first Gameplay showing wasn't great. Halo 4 wasn't great. 2 new AAA game announcements one with just a CG Trailer. The only decent games were the Rare collection and Rares New IP assuming it isn't a F2P MMO.

Good start. Gears remaster of just the first game? That's weird. But Halo, gears 4 and Tomb Raider looked great. And that holo lens tech is going to be a monster with minecraft fans. If say it was a B+ showing. Just wish we'd gotten a slim X1.

I'll say the Rare collection is really nice, but I have most of these games with their systems just sitting on my shelf. I can't really justify buying the system just for that.

Also thought they may as well have done a Gears collection, since they already did the same for Halo. Just remastering the first seems a little cheap.

I agree Halo 4 was a bad game.

Thought it was a pretty decent conference. I enjoyed seeing the Holo lense stuff (have we not already been shown the players viewpoint is like looking through a letterbox though and not what they showed on screen?), and a few other pieces such as the backwards compatibility and the Fallout mod stuff was great...
They didn't mess up
To be honest I did not feel wowed by anything I saw but then again I think everyone's expectations are always unrealistically high,,,,

Well, that was certainly a Microsoft conference. Zero ambition, zero innovation, zero surprises, just more of the same each and every year. Fine if you like that sort of thing, but no reason to buy an XBox One if you're after anything out of the ordinary or with any semblance of individuality or soul.

Holy cow! what the fuck is this? If you weren't surprised by Backward compatibility, Rare Collection, Recore, Sea of Thieves, etc. then tell us how you got that info before hand? Why didn't you share oh Mr. wise one?

What a solid conference.

fallout 4 console mods exclusive.
backwards compatibility
hololens was amazing.
valve and oculus VR deals
exclusive after exclusive.
indie games were solid
early access with free trials
the new controller

it was basically game after game, solid solid conference.

Conference rating:
Games: 6/10 (cgi, nothing really megaton and wtf gears 4 looks bad)
Other: 9.5/10

Overall a solid 8. Sony needs to have megaton game announcements or some serious software innovations we didn't see coming to exceed MS

I actually think this seemed to be a better conference than they put on last year (Damning with faint praise etc). It had no major announcement on the level of an exclusive Platinum game or anything, obviously, but a fair amount of interesting stuff definitely.

That said, the things that are proving most likely from this to make me want to get another Xbone are all related to playing old games again (Rare collection, 360 BC), so I'm not sure if that's a good sign or not.

Definitely sounds better than I was expecting though. Kudos to 'em.

I'd give it a C-
Hololens looked cool, but I'm always weary of prototype tech until it's fully released.
Halo trailer was a decent start.
BC was a nice extra, but BC has never really been a mass market selling point, especially when you're talking two years post launch.
I'm sure someone will like that controller, but definitely a niche product.
Cuphead looks cool, still coming to PC AFAIK? Indies getting some video time is always good but most could be in Sony/Nintendo conferences just the same.
I was only half watching the presentation and honestly thought the Gears video was of a Gears 1 Remaster, not of Gears 4, I could see so little, not a great way to wrap up.
FO4 mods stuff could be cool, but unknown if it's also on PS4 and still better to just get the PC version.
Tomb Raider looked solid.
EA...
Forza 6 was Forza.

I don't give a damn about CG trailers when it comes to relevance to the games they're supposed to represent.

Conference should have been half as long, had EA stuff presented by MS in about 15 seconds, a Gears demo that was actually visible, and even if the rest was the same that would have bumped it to C/C+. Simple not enough actual 'Here's an awesome new exclusive with gameplay footage!'

I actually liked this a lot better. It wasn't so focused on Call of Duty so we got to see actual exclusive games to the Xbox One. On top of that Phil said that there will be more games announced this week and and new UI shown off. Also, let's not forget about gamescom wher fucking CRACKDOWN, SCALEBOUND AND QUANTUM BREAK and more new IP will be there. Booyaa, I'm excited.

Can't wait for Sony and Nintendo so announce shit either. It's a good time to be a gamer.

This was a lazy and terribly paced conference. Apart from the limited backwards compatibility announcement, there was nothing exciting about it. Even the gameplay sections that were shown felt slow and boring or just ridiculous. 4/10.

Weak conference. Nintendo had more 'wow' factor in their event yesterday just based on Mario Maker.

MS had some nice announcements, but every bit of gameplay they showed was heavily scripted and honestly not all that impressive.

BC made me go 'woah' then I remembered I sold all my 360 games.

Thought TR and Gears4 looked good, Minecraft was very interesting and Halo Warzone I'll reserve judgement on until I see more but first impressions were Halo 4 meets Titanfall. The rest......couple of interesting looking indies.

Were any of the streams 60 fps? Just so we know if there is any reason for us to upload some off-screen footage from the conference.

I just realised why I enjoyed that so much more than most MS conferences, too.

No Kinect, no CoD. For the first time in how long? They've been staples, and I can't stand either.

It's not exactly a bright new day for MS, as they're clearly still the Halo/Forza/Gears/Fable company, but dropping Kinect and CoD is a good start.

We'll get an Xbox One this Xmas with a massive deal, but that conference was not all that for my tastes. CG trailers and a load of games I'm not all that interested in.

Quantum Break is my jam. Unless it isn't.

Too safe. All the demos were pre-recorded. Minecraft looked the most realistic; oh, how I hope that was real.

It may have been real in terms of how you can interact with Minecraft, but Hololens is not all it's cracked up to be. A little bit of a bait and switch, at least currently. You don't see what the video footage showed.

Here, try this for me real quick. Pick up your smartphone. Hold it about a foot in front of your face. Now imagine that the phone is a window into a parallel world. Through that window, you can see holograms that appear to exist in the real world—but all around that phone, you’re only seeing the world. In other words, you have to be looking directly at a digital object to see it, because HoloLens currently has a ridiculously tiny field of view. As soon as you turn your head a little bit, the holograms disappear.

Why not play Xbox 360 games you haven't played?

Last gen was pretty dang long so I ended up playing everything I found mildly interesting. I'm of the opinion that backwards compatibility is a big selling point early in the gen so people can comfortably migrate and still be able to buy previous gen games as they're still coming out. Nothing of note is last gen exclusive at this point and as I mentioned I played everything I found appealing.

I do have a fairly good pc so that dampens excitement as well.

They just added hololens lol

Pretty solid show. Elite controller looks sweet. Not much gamewise to convince me to get an X1 aside from forza(bought Xbox, X360 for Forza) and may be hard to resist. Just not a gears or halo fan anymore. Most other games I'll grab on PC. Hololens lense demo was cool but I've seen the actual FOV and will not jump in just yet. Still pretty strong showing and way better than past E3s.

I mean, we knew going into this that this conference was really about the 2015 lineup and not really for game announcements >1 year out.

Overall I'd give it a 8/10. Can't wait for more info on QB, Scalebound, and Crackdown along with new announcements at Games
