How many shirts will Phil Spencer wear?

Wow. I really expected them to come with a lot more than that. It was very standard conference.

The 360 bc announcement is awesome though. Truly.

Recore was the standout for me, although that's really only due to Armature and Inafune's involvement. The cinematic wasn't that appealing tbh.

Don't care for Halo, Gears, Forza or Tomb Raider.

Backwards compatibility would be cool to have, but I've only kept like seven 360 games anyway.

Hololens isn't something I'm realistically going to be using.

Meh conference.

The BC thing is a smart move. I am sure their data shows a lot of people that have yet to jump in from the 360. Now the BB trade in deal ala Gamestop to help persuade those to jump in.

I would love to revisit this BC a year from now, since most devs may not be bothered to even do a thing about it for those who can run out and buy $14 used games they see zero revenue from.

It was a very good showing by MS, their best in several years at E3.

But it just felt rather "been-there, done-that" to me, certainly nothing shown made me even pause to consider jumping onboard the Xbox train again.

I'm sure plenty of people will be hyped by it though, but I wonder how many of those were already predisposed to what MS has always offered.

Nothing they should wanted me to go out and buy an xbox, which is a big reason to put on shows like this. Very meh presentation.

Pretty good conference. It's exciting to see MS step up to compete with Sony.

As a PS4 owner, I am excited to see how Sony reacts to MS stepping up after their troubled launch.

So my 60GB BC compatible PS3 doesn't qualify for this, huh? May as well keep it I guess.

Solid conference but the trailers and demos didn't really do anything for me. BC is fantastic but sounds similar to what they did with 360. Plus damn near all my 360 games are either remastered or on PC. But still a great announcement either way.

Solid 3/5. Started out strong but lost my attention as it went on. At least they didn't waste any time and just showed game after game.

X360 BC sounds like a megaton but when I really think about I don't care at all, I own most of those on Steam at this point.

Sea of Thieves looks interesting. Spectacular looking water.

Hololens was technically extremely impressive, although I have my reservations about actual implementation in games, like with Kinect.

Halo 5, ROTTR and Gears 4 looked... uninteresting. Graphically all pretty nice but the same gameplay we've seen since for the last 10 years. The more you show Lara almost but not quite yet falling a cliff, the less I care.

Cuphead looks awesome and happy to see it still coming to PC.

The three games I'm most interested in, Quantum Break, Scalebound and Crackdown 3 were absent.

Let's see if Sony has any drawn out entertainment and apps filler tonight. Microsoft did not do any of that shit. It was well paced, they announced amazing features and a steady string of games.

What a solid conference.

fallout 4 console mods exclusive.
backwards compatibility
hololens was amazing.
valve and oculus VR deals

exclusive after exclusive.
indie games were solid
early access with free trials
the new controller

it was basically game after game, solid solid conference.

Please explain these in the context of an xbox one conference though.

The danger is MS didn't really put a stake in the ground for next year, it was all short term/this holiday stuff.

This conference was mainly supposed to be about this holiday though. That's what they said leading up to it so I'm not sure what everyone here was expecting. Gamescom is for the stuff >1 year out such as Crackdown, Scalebound, Quantum Break and probably some others as well.

I'll be stunned if Sony can upstage this.

The BC thing was crazy. It made PS now look bad. But honestly, most of MS conference was just fine, and nothing more. So all Sony needs is 2-3 really jaw dropping, or even just surprises that get people talking, that it could easily upstage MS.

Sony will fail if their conference is all over the place, long, has long stretches that are boring (I love VR, but kind of fear they will spend too much time on it like the Holo Lens part, and VR is harder to actually show off then Holo Lens)....

So yeah. I don't think it's impossible for them to match MS or upstage them (especially since IMO MS conference was just kind of okay, especially if it didn't have the Controller + BC).

Cuphead was the highlight of the show for me with Rare's game looking intriguing too.

Not much interest in anything else they showed. Am I the only one who thought that was kind of weak and very safe? Lots of CG trailers, even for that controller. Disappointing.

I thought it was one of the best press cons they've ever done.

I'm surprised at the lukewarm reception here. I'm not a big MS fan but there was very little time spent on non gaming related stuff. Thought it was a solid conference, their best in years. Where were Quantum Break and especially Scalebound though ? Cuphead looks guuuuuud. My main complaint has to do with the Minecraft demo as I couldn't care less about VR.

So because some people thought MS had an okay or bad showing they are Sony fanboys? When will people grow out of this way of thinking?

When the narrative for Red vs Blue in politics and Yankees vs. Red Sox or nVidia vs. ATi dies as well.

(it will always be the narrative)

I knew going in no matter what MS showed , that there were going to be people who dissed and undersold what was shown. Unfortunately, my thoughts have been confirmed

Those three are all confirmed for Gamescom.

BC, Early Access and Mods were the standout for me.

Having said that some of the games looked cool - Rare's in particular, if good, would make me get a Xbox one - looks, and sounds, amazing.

Does anyone think (from a marketing/sales standpoint) that backwards compatibility is too late. I don't know about the marketing potential of it 2 years after XB1 has been out.

But guys... It's it's fucking beautiful!!!!

9. R.C. Pro-Am (released in 1988, 1 player) – Responsive racing game that inspired elements of Rare’s future racers, including speed boosts, upgrades and collectible power-ups littered around the track.

10. Cobra Triangle (released in 1989, 1 player) – Hop into a boat and power through a branching game world, completing challenges such as shooting targets, disposing of min

14. Battletoads (released in 1991, 1-2 players) – Skill and perseverance required as the ’Toads take on multiple game styles to rescue Pimple and Princess Angelica from the Dark Queen.

15. R.C. Pro-Am II (released in 1992, 1-4 players) – Sequel to R.C. Pro-Am with a wider variety of environments, more car customization options and bonus games.

16. Battletoads Arcade (released in 1994) – First “Battletoads” game to allow all three ‘Toads to play simultaneously. Has never had a home release before “Rare Replay”!

17. Killer Instinct Gold (released in 1996, 1-2 players) – Home version of Killer Instinct 2 with several multiplayer modes (including tournament mode) and a training dojo.

18. Blast Corps (released in 1997, 1 player) – Cult classic with a fleet of destructive vehicles (from bulldozers to robots) used to clear the path for a runaway nuclear missile carrier.

Quoted are the only games I'd actually play on that list. Cool that it's 30 bones though.

Wonder what Sony has in store.. Alot of their big games have been pushed back to 2016.

Uncharted won't really be a big deal since it's next year, Unless last guardian shows up that could be huge.

No Man's Sky could be good if they actually tell us what's it's about.

I really enjoyed their conference. Had fun watching it. Felt it was even better than last year's imo. That BC announcement (while limited) is probably the most exciting news to me. I really hope they don't half-ass it. Can you imagine if from now on, consoles will actually be fully backwards compatible? Two thumbs up for MS for actually attempting to bring BC back. (C'mon Sony. Seriously though, what are you waiting for?) Also Fallout mods on Xbox One?? Who saw that coming?

On the games front, they didn't have anything really exciting-- which was a lil disappointing to me. I don't why I was expecting them to blow their load but while they did show lil glimpses of some new games (Recore-- which looks super), it did end up feeling like another Halo/Forza/Gears retread. Although, you Halo/Gears fans would probably (fair enough) argue otherwise. :P The indie showcase was actually my favourite part game-wise. Ashen and the one game with the blind girl? Gorgeous. The third parties that they have on stage were pretty forgettable. That Fallout demo was shown during Bethesda's conference and they had Rainbow Siege and the Division? Eh. (I just really wanted to see some Dark Souls 3 gameplay okay). The hololens segment was so staged as well. Blah.

Overall, still a solid conference imo. Started super strong and kinda dwindled down to a middling lull after that high start. Stayed up till 2.30am for this and I have no regrets. Good job, MS.

I think it's pretty misleading to show the hololense fov as the TV camera sees it and letting us belive that's how the experience will be when in reality it's just a postit note size.

A lot easier to watch something on a Sunday evening than a weekday morning

Very true. This was also early in the morning, and people were at work. So yeah, I'll just edit that part out of my post. Even if Monday wasn't a factor, I don't really see how those #s are that relevant.
