riiiiiiiiiiiight so tomorrow you are going to find anyone who said MS conference was bad and Sony conference was good and that's your evidence they are fanboys huh?

genius.

LOL no

Got better things to do that argue with warriors on the web

But it's not difficult to keep track of hypocrites.

Underwhelmed big time:
Not a fan of halo;
Not into mmos or f2p;
Did not like character and monster designs in new gears;
Should have showed more forza gameplay.
Too many cgis.

On another hand bc is a neat addition, new controller looks cool and souls 3 we're the highlight of their show.

I thought that was a great conference. I mean, remember 4-5 years ago when they barely even showed any games? This is a big improvement.

Very good presentation IMO. 8/10.

Loved Halo 5 (campaign and warzone), DS3 reveal, Gears 4, Backwards compatibility, Mods on X1, Hololens, Sea of Theives, and more.

I would rate it a 7.5, started off really strong but kinda went downhill a bit. Still a really solid conference but could've been way better if they showed Crackdown, Scalebound or a big unexpected exclusive at the end. From that though I guess they just wanted to show off the 2015 games which makes a lot of sense so I guess there's that. Though from the Gears 4 black comments, I watched the conference on SpikeTV on my television so I saw everything from the Gears 4 gameplay. It definitely wasn't as dark as those who watched it on their computers as I could make everything out on TV...I mean it was a little dark but not black levels as a lot people here have said.

Great:
Backwards Compatibility MEGATON!
FO4 PC mods work with XB1
Halo 5 Warzones mode
Recore
Hololens
Rare Collection and Sea of Thieves
Cuphead
Gears 4

Good/Okay-ish:
A little too much time on indies. No hate, just wished they showed a bit less.
Mostly everything else

Bad:
Too much CGI trailers
Too much of things we've seen before
No Scalebound, Crackdown or Quantum Break footage until Gamescom
Only Gears 1 instead of a collection of the other games also.
No Killer Instinct: Season 3/Battletoads/Banjo Kazooie 4

Good conference for me. A bit front loaded but it started with a bang and ended with one (Huge Gears fan). BC is an amazing announcement. Cup head looked great and Recore looks like it could be amazing. Will have to see more.

8.5/10

The BC thing was crazy. It made PS now look bad. But honestly, most of MS conference was just fine, and nothing more. So all Sony needs is 2-3 really jaw dropping, or even just surprises that get people talking, that it could easily upstage MS.

Sony will fail if their conference is all over the place, long, has long stretches that are boring (I love VR, but kind of fear they will spend too much time on it like the Holo Lens part, and VR is harder to actually show off then Holo Lens)....

So yeah. I don't think it's impossible for them to match MS or upstage them (especially since IMO MS conference was just kind of okay, especially if it didn't have the Controller + BC).

I'm surprised at the lukewarm reception here. I'm not a big MS fan but there was very little time spent on non gaming related stuff. Thought it was a solid conference, their best in years. Where were Quantum Break and especially Scalebound though ? Cuphead looks guuuuuud. My main complaint has to do with the Minecraft demo as I couldn't care less about VR.

I think it comes down to subjectivity, and whether a game interests you or not. Objectively I can step back and say, MS had a good conference. They stuck to games, and were pretty rapid fire about it (save for the Holo Lens bit, and the EA talk section). But overall, it was just games.

They had two really big announcements that were HOLY FUCK. But here is where subjectivity comes in. I just found a lot of the indie titles, and just general titles they showed, were just kind of okay. Or if I found them interesting, I've played so many games in those genres, I'm just kind of like...okay got it. I know what to expect (like Gears came off really boring to me. Halo did too from a gameplay perspective, the same way Blops 3 will come off boring to me during Sony's conference -- assuming it's there).

So at least for me, it was just kind of like, the conference started out really strong, then it kind of just got into this flow that was super consistent, but it started to just become "okay". It's all just "okay". Then it just ended.

And yet Sony will already get 10/10 from those of you in here saying MS got a 4/10. C'mon guys.

Sony will show a dedicated VR device with dedicated developed games. MS is doing deals with give and oculus that so far are just streaming your Xbox one games to PC over local network into VR headset.

Also Sony showed new ratchet, streamed Drawn together. And they have yet to show Horizon uncharted 4 multiplayer and uncharted collection. Not to mention more street fighter v.

Not having scalebound, crackdown, and quantum break hurt their conference.

As an Xbox homer, I thought it was a great conference. Lots to be excited about and they still have more to announce over the coming weeks and months. The Xbox team has really stepped it up since the disastrous XB1 reveal.

Was there anything about a Joe Montana/2K Football thing that's been teased for like a year?

I'm curious what's going on with that, if anything. It sounded like a Microsoft type of deal, but I don't know what happened as I'm at work and stream-less.

I heard, "We've been asking Microsoft for this feature for 10 years." I get the feeling it's Xbox One exclusive. He didn't specifically say what you quoted though. We'll see.

If it was exclusive they would have said so. If it is exclusive and they failed to drive the point home, then they really fucked up

If it was 100% backwards compatibility from the released, that I would be impressed, but them saying "oh we'll release compatibility every so often" kinda deflated how impressive it was.

I love how those of us who weren't completely jizzing in our pants over this conference must be anti-Microsoft fanboys.

Come on. This was a good conference, and had some interesting announcements, but nothing mind blowing (other than the backward compatibility). The VR shit was shit. The AR shit was not a real representation of what Hololens displays. The Rare announcements were shit (I have no interest in playing the same games I've been playing for over a decade and can play right now on an emulator, and pirate MMO? Ugh. Where is my new Battletoads???), Dark Souls 3 is multiplatform and doesn't have the mastermind working on it (or so it appears), and Gears did nothing to make me feel like I should come back after the bore fest that the last game was.

Still, Fallout 4 mods and BC won this conference for MS if Sony doesn't show some massive shit. I'm talking TLG, new Crash, and Shenmue type announcements. And Morpheus better not suck.

For some reason I came away really impressed from their conference. This is kind of surprising considering there was no real standout demo and the fact that the Gears and Halo gameplay footage were underwhelming to the extreme.

What did impress was the backwards compatibility announcement, Cuphead, the Recore IP reveal, and the Hololens demo.

Well, surely that will grow? It's better than Now, in that you don't have to rent it. And also, if you already own these old titles, they are free. I mean you are right, MS could stumble, and the BC list stays very limited. And if that happens, then it will be all hype etc. So good point (I assume that is the point you are making).

I still like the idea of owning old titles, and being able to play them (if they get added to the list)...and not having to pay. But you are right, it all comes down to IF they add a lot of games. So I guess we have to wait and see.

well lets just keep in perspective that its all personal taste... for some HALO - automatic 10/10

for others if Sony announced TLG they would cut themselves and make a blood sacrifice to Sony, so about a 10/10 I suppose............

doesn't necessarily make them console warriors, but some people love their chosen games.

Kind of offtopic, but what all day streams are there today?

I know there's the Youtube one with Geoff, GB, Twitch, Gametrailers, and the Kinda Funny one. Am I missing any?

Great show by MS.

As someone who doesn't care about backwards compatibility (don't have time to play the new games even less time for the old ones) I still believe it's a great feature. There are a LOT of Xbox players with huge game libraries that jumped ship to PS4 and now have a really good reason to get a Bone. And that dig at Sony! They don't charge us for the games we already own! LOL it was great.

Didn't feel Halo SP. Warzone could be cool.

The exclusives and indies were nice too.

Now I'm torn on the Hololens stuff. It was amazing as expected. But is it a true experience or just a concept they are throwing around?

After we learned that the Hololens unveil earlier this year was fake as hell I'm skeptical. Seems like it will take years to get something like that to the market. Probably on Xbox Two.

Overall I'd give MS an A.

Sony will have to show a lot to beat then this year and frankly I'm not a believer of Morpheus. I think it could be Sony's Kinect.
I'm reading your words and then looking at your score and there doesn't appear to be any correlation to me. Is a B the bottom of your scale or something?

I still don't get why they held for Gamescom. Should have gone full guns blazing at E3 and not held back.

How on earth are people saying that was a mediocre conference?

We already knew about the big releases (halo, forza, TR)...but there was stacks of brand new games there.

How does Backward compatibility, early access, Mod support for Fallout 4 and the new elite controller not impress people? Especially considering most thought it was never going to happen.

EA access still continues to be awesome value as well.

I have been tormenting myself over getting an Xbox one because i adore Halo and everything related to it, however after watching the Halo demo i will likely skip buying one until next year. The show started off great but died toward the end, Tomb Raider was bland and releasing it on 10th November is killing the franchise for good. Still i would give MS 7.5/10, good conference but not quite enough for me to jump back into Xbox world quite yet.
