What a hugely underwhelming conference.

-- HALO 5 didn't look very impressive given that it launches in a few months.

-- That GEARS 4 reveal was really weak. It didn't feel dynamic or very compelling.

-- Hololens was really interesting but I'm not sure just how practical that is going to be in in application.

The Rare game collection looks really cool and for a really great price but I wasn't impressed in the slightest with the conference as a whole.

Still, Fallout 4 mods and BC won this conference for MS if Sony doesn't show some massive shit. I'm talking TLG, new Crash, and Shenmue type announcements. And Morpheus better not suck.

Everyone blew their load at the BC even though it only affects a list of games.

As an Xbox homer, I thought it was a great conference. Lots to be excited about and they still have more to announce over the coming weeks and months. The Xbox team has really stepped it up since the disastrous XB1 reveal.

I think there's a lot to get exited about, but idk if the conference itself was great. For example, Gears 4 I'm sure will be a fantastic game and yet the demo they showed was pretty meh and apparently unwatchable for many. Again with Tomb Raider; probably going to be a good game, but an underwhelming demo. They didn't even show off Quantum Break -- which was my most hyped game.

YEah call me skeptical....sound more like a PR stunt, i doubt we will see huge adoption of this.

Well there is no work required on the publisher side other than giving approval. Unless they are hoping for future sales of the old games, there really isn't much to say no to.

So far Fallout 3 and the Rainbow Six games are already coming as attachments with their sequels.

Ubi and Bethesda are on board.

Gaf correct me if I'm wrong.

Forza CG
Dark Souls CG
Re core CG

Halo and Gears were good for the core audience. Holo lens was great. Backwards compatibility was well worth the response it got but I wonder how that will translate to people looking for a next generation experience. I was really surprised to see the amount of indies MS had on display.

TR was their standout but I wonder how it'll fare for with that release date.

7/10

Crackdown and Scalebound should have been included.

Getting salty about a conference that hasn't happened yet and people not being super impressed with the one that just finished isn't a good look guys.

LOL no

Got better things to do that argue with warriors on the web

Like update that record you mentioned you keep on posters who have made negative MS posts?

It didnt help MSs conference that outside of Fallout Mods and currently limited BC. The rest of their conference was predictable and/or leaked. Though Inafunes game still rings through. Would have been more impressive with gameplay.

Probably a "C" for me.

The megatons were things I don't really care about (BC, new controller, Hololense Minecraft)

But I'm cautiously optimistic about many of the indies/"smaller" games, and mods on consoles.

Mixed really. Though I think a lot of people will be excited by their conference and I can see why with the amount of games they showed. Backward compatibility and VR tech don't interest me at all however and most of it was CGI. When they showed gameplay it was Tomb Raider 1886 and that Gears demo was, well , bad.

Some of the indies looked great though, Tacoma, Ashen and i'm interested in Recore though once again no gameplay.

I don't own an Xbox One but that Elite Controller is a really great idea. I like how the options allow you to tweak for Shooters, Racers, & Fighters - the controller is so adaptable!

Backwards compatability is a great addition - CHOICE is always fantastic.
Sony has to respond proper because PS Now, though a cool idea, has a premium price and is less reliable than what Xbox is going for.

Loved the ID@Xbox games (CUPHEAD!) and Sea of Thieves was delicious.

Tomb Raider was underwhelming for some reason..I guess I wanted some good combat. Same with Gears.

Seemed a bit "meh" to me personally. Not sure what I was expecting though. Wasn't terrible. As a current PC/Nintendo gamer with a PS4 potentially in my future, there wasn't anything that made me reconsider getting a One right now.

Surprisingly that Rare collection seemed the most intriguing to me. BC is nice, but it would have been immensely more meaningful announcing it 2 years ago.

cool thing it was a microsoft conference

It's not an xbox one conference, it's an xbox conference. Xbox is Microsoft's gaming brand.

Well yeah, but that's a bit of a copout. There was no clearly defined xbox one/windows 10/future tech segmentation, the was a huge fuck off XBOX logo that conveniently and quietly departed without fanfare and reappeared occasionally. That was messy and confusing, and afterwards it felt like purposefully so tbh :/

I was sat there with my finger on the trigger to buy an xbox one, wanting to be blown away and convinced, but I just came away with more questions than answers and old trust issues bubbling in the back of my mind.

Hololens is far more restrictive than that. And I'm sorry, but BC on the 360 was garbage. Expecting the same thing here. The Fallout 4 mod thing is cool, but it'll obviously be limited by what the XB1 can even handle.

Turns out the Rare game was an MMO.

So this conference is worse than I thought as that was the only decent thing for me. The only hope is that reCore turns out good.

How on earth are people saying that was a mediocre conference?

We already knew about the big releases (halo, forza, TR)...but there was stacks of brand new games there.

How does Backward compatibility, early access, Mod support for Fallout 4 and the new elite controller not impress people? Especially considering most thought it was never going to happen.

EA access still continues to be awesome value as well.

BC is limited.

Early access is a cancer to gaming.

Mod support isn't exclusive.

You have to own a console and then want another controller.

I give it a 7/10. I'm very excited for Gears, Cuphead, Halo and Tomb Raider, but E3 is more about surprises for me and the only one they had was Rare's game(which did look very interesting).

They tried to focus on 2015 I guess, but I would've preferred footage of games like Scalebound, QB, Crackdown, etc. to be shown plus some newer stuff.

I liked the new controller and other than Gears, my favorite announcement was backwards compatibility. I still have a PS3, but it's great that I can play 360 exclusives/console exclusives games on my XB1 now(not to mention games that run terribly on PS3 like Bethesda games).

If it was 100% backwards compatibility from the released, that I would be impressed, but them saying "oh we'll release compatibility every so often" kinda deflated how impressive it was.

'with publisher approval' just kills it

Alright you guys have a point. Shame on me for getting super excited over BC. I should have known better to just buy into it right away. This isn't just for MS, but in general you should really wait and see if it actually delivers on the promise.

Thing is, when they first showed BC, the thought crossed my mind that it might amount to nothing if the list was super limited, and if they don't end up adding a lot of what you own. So you guys are right. It's cool, and the possibility is there. But it's too early to celebrate. It's kind of lame MS called it Backwards Compatibility. I mean that is what it is, kind of. But if it ends up being super limited, then they presented it like a solution to BC, when it really is only a very limited BC.

So yeah, okay. Outside the amazing Elite controller, I really just thought the rest of the conference was just alright. =/

really quick impressions from the gameplay shown but I thought KZ : shadowfall actually looked quite a bit better....

(Halo is the better game overall though don't get me wrong)

The fact that it was a not going to happen situation on both consoles and now they are bringing select few to start is great. Still very impressive that they have brought the number 1 requested feature to the console.

But I guess some will see the negative in it not being 100%

A good show, nothing memorable but good. Unfortunately I was right when I said that QB, Scalebound and Crackdown moved to Gamescom didn't mean bombs coming to E3.

6/6.5 for me: great start, mid part quite slow, final part good, but not as good as the first. Long demos too. Liked Recore (at least the concept, CG trailer ;_; ), Gears 4, and of course, my hero, Cuphead. Cuphead is SO GOOD.

Just promises, bethesda and ubi make up less then 1% of the xbox library,. I'll believe it when I see it old xbox games are not going to be a big seller 2 years into the gen.

By the way, aside from Rare no longer being forced to work on Kinect sports ("What's Kinect?"), where were all the amazing new titles (=not Halo/Forza/Gears/Fable) Spencer promised?

6/10 from me.

+ Rare collection
+ Halo 5
+ Gears 4
+ Tomb Raider

Some of the stuff they showed I didn't care about and other things were for PC only. My main problem with this conference was I pretty much knew about most of the stuff except BC which I don't even care about.

85

-BC holy shit!
-Tomb Raider looked way better than i was expecting

-Halo 5 co-op looked great, and that Warzone (?) looks like great fun
-GOW beta later today, yasssssssss

Extremely hyped for Gamescon now, Scalebound + Quantum Break + Crackdown, dayum

Bring the next conference! After this and Bathesda i'm sure this is gonna be a fantastic year as a gamer :D

TLG i'm looking at you, you motherfucker

Pretty decent showing.

Highlights for me were:
Elite controller
Rare collection and sweet looking pirate game
Cuphead looks amazing

Liked:
Halo 4 and Tomb Raider both seem fun, but not mind-blowing.
BC
Hololens Minecraft was impressive but seemed a bit smoke and mirrors.

Disliked:
Gears 4 - dark, muddy, boring
Recore has a some nice names involved but I would've liked some gameplay instead of a cgi trailer.

Overall solid B to B+ conference.

I don't know if MS did enough to pull momentum away from Sony.

I guess time will only tell but everything here is a known quantity

Might get some 360/ps3 fence sitters though

7/10 Solid conference definitely Microsoft's best conference in awhile.

Positives:
BC
Fallout 4 Mod Support/FO3 included?
Rare 30 for 30$
XB1 Elite Controller
The Division (From what I have seen I'm excited)
Recore (Loved Metroid and loved the preview)

Meh:
Gears 4/Gears Collection (Will pick up but didn't show anything mind blowing)
Halo 5 (Will also pick up, nothing too special either, warzone did look interesting)
Tomb Raider (Never played tomb raider before, no real interest)
Indies (Not really into indie games)
Sea of Thieves (Too early to judge, looks generic)
Forza 6 (Not Horizons, FM5 turned me off of the main games)

Negatives:
HoloLens (Could give a rats ass, and most signs point to not nearly as good as what was shown)

Final Notes:
Fairly predictable with a few "Megatons", really excited to see Crackdown and QB at Gamescon as well as the OS changes they're teasing.

I knew going in no matter what MS showed , that there were going to be people who dissed and undersold what was shown. Unfortunately, my thoughts have been confirmed

Oh cmon. Even on Geoff's youtube show, two of the guests gave them an A- while the other two gave them a B+ and B. Indicating that there are people who weren't really floored by what was shown -- no silly fanboy bias involved.

PC mods on Fallout is huge for me and as far as consoles goes it makes the Xbone version the definitive one IMO regardless of resolution or frame rate.

Gears looked great. I don't know why but I thought of RE4 when I saw it. Hopefully it will be a great game because frankly as far as SP goes Gears 1 is still the champ. 2 was alright and I didn't even bother with 3 or Judgment.

As I said I felt the Halo SP showing was weak. It was the biggest MS conference of the year and that was the best SP showing they had???

Then again Warzone seemed cool and on the long run MP is the only thing that matters. We'll see how Halo turns out.

Cup head looks absolutely amazing. Is it exclusive to Xone?

I think it's first on Xbox/PC (Steam was confirmed a while back).

I was worried about it ever since it was announced as a boss rush only game but man it really could turn into something special. Definitely the top of my list of games I can't wait for.
