2015 PC Screenshot Thread of the Only Place Where Compression Isn't

So, what do you guys think about The Order 1886 when it comes to graphics ?

People seem to be blowing it way out of proportion. It's full of blur, film grain and a brown tonemap. On top of that, it's got those massive black bars. I can barely see any detail, but I guess all of the above can mask a lot of the flaws in graphics in games. I also read it's very very linear almost to the point where it's practically the definition of a rail shooter. Being ushered down a chain of corridors should provide the developers with a smaller area to fill more densely with shiney graphics.
I like the characters though.

Well, the thread was derailed I guess. So I'll just respond to one comment....

It craps all over Ryse, and Ryse is beautiful.

Define "craps all over Rye." That's a bit of an exaggeration Ithink. Ryse is one of the best looking games of 2013 AND 2014. The only game on PC I'd put over it is Unity, and that has so many flaws that it's still hard for me to give it the edge.

I feel like that extreme film grain is covering up a lot of flaws in The Order, allowing them to cheat a bit.

What I wouldn't do to see Venice or Istanbul rendered in that level of detail again. I doubt they'll ever go back to settings from past games.

^Now I am convinced I have to play through Mirror's Edge again for like the 6th time. It's so beautiful.

Go for it mate, like you said "it's beautiful and it still has one of the best art designs" even by todays standards!

Thanks chroma, you're killin it with your ACU photos, always good stuff coming from you!

Wow. This game never fails to impress. How did they get the light bouncing effect to look so good that early in... 2008 ?

Yeah, it's pre-baked, but they pulled it of real good, considering when it came out!

Really enjoying Skyrim. It's like a whole different game with the graphics mods and the realism/immersion and ease of use mods that just make everything better compared to back when I went through it on 360.
The world feels so much more harsh and dangerous now. I haven't even gone to fight a dragon yet because I would shit myself and run with how weak I am just against normal enemies so far.

Once again, nothing special - just trying this preset on different games with a few minor changes here and there.

As a fan of DoF, it's a pity that Arkham Asylum's depth-buffer doesn't work with ReShade, because Arkham City on the other hand looks amazing with it.

It has very high quality assets and materials thought, You have to give them that. A lot of polish went into assets and environments.
I think that linearity, no big combat engagements and no big set pieces really hurts overall technology superiority of The Order, its really limited in 'scope', except for awesome London vistas.

Still think that beach landing scene from Ryse is the most mind blowing stuff in real-time rendering. The scene is just bonkers.

Too much blur and "cinematic" postprocessing in general. I understand the idea but I think they overdid it.
Yeah, for such a sentence i got jumped on by like 20 people in other threads ;\ People really dont understand that posters of this thread are not so keen on blurry IQ, especially while screenshoting.

Arkham City does have a depth buffer of sorts, but it's really wonky... You can play with it on, don't get me wrong. The art design works well because you can tell who you're fighting based solely on their outline, so you don't need to look closely for details that give away which kind of enemy you're up against and consequently what you can and cannot do to. BUT, all of the DoF effects blur everything except Bats most of the time. It might be the preset I'm using (I didn't bother changing anything DoF-related because it was 4 AM and I had to go to uni today) so if you were to tweak it further, that problem might be solved.

I like the look of those shots. Mind sharing the preset?

It's not mine, but the author seemed quite keen to share it, so here's the preset with a few small changes for that extra grittiness!

Edit: The preset's made by this screenshotter, who's got some excellent stuff so be sure to check it out! https://www.flickr.com/photos/courier_ttf

Ok guys, thanks for your opinions on the graphic-technical side of The Order 1886 - even though it's not a PC game and therefore this thread isn't the best place to talk-write about that

Anyway, this month I finished for the second time Call of Juarez Bound in Blood, Call of Juarez last week and right now I just started playing CoJ Gunslinger New Game + - True West difficulty..
And well, the first CoJ has some rough places and the gunplay isn't the best, but still the game has great atmosphere, some nice set pieces, good characters and story, the DX10 version of the game looks still pretty good even in this times, so yeah, still a good game.. Bound in Blood is better almost in every way - it doesn't support DX10, which is a shame, but the pacing is better, the gunplay is way better, atmosphere maybe isn't as good as in the first one but still good, music is great, characters are interesting as is story, etc.. really enjoyable game
But Gunslinger, man, that game is fantastic.. game has maybe the best gunplay and feeling that I have ever had the pleasure to see in a FPS game, the story is classic and nothing special, but the way it's presented is original, funny, has many great setpieces, many historic characters, the duels are fun - not a single complaint from my side on them, graphics (mostly the style) are/is beatiful, great fun in arcade mode, some really neat new or improved features from past games, atmosphere is A+, music too.. all this great fun for only 15 euros.. my second favorite game from 2013 (the first was Metro LL)
Maybe I will make a LTTP

Guys, do you know if there's a third party app out there that allows you to freeze frame any PC game and add a free roaming camera? I guess it would have to be a feature built into the actual game itself like 'The Last of Us' did but I'd really like to capture some actions shots at the angle I want. I've tried every word combo under the sun in google but nada..

Edit: found one but it's only for BF4.. that's exactly what I'd like for ALL PC games.

Heh. No. You have to hack that stuff in on a per-game basis. Which is the sort of thing I just did for Dying Light (which Midhras put to good use in this thread).

I don't believe that there's an universal tool for this sort of thing. Different engines need different hacks / settings in order to enable free roaming cameras, and then there are games where I'm sure it's pretty much impossible.

Can anyone apply the Cyberpunked / my Crysis 3 1886 style reshade to Ryse? I am curious how it looks all dirtied up.

Especially with the TAA on ...

Thanks for the replies. I figured as much..I wonder how difficult it is for developers to implement this in their games. The free roam camera has always been associated with multiplayer in PC games.

I should have mentioned...

We've been building a decent library of game screenshotting guides (most with free camera instructions) over on DET.

We have something like that here on GAF, but not all of the DET folks are GAF members and could not contribute. Also, having a thread per game makes troubleshooting and discussion a bit easier.

So after playing around with the Mastereffect Reborn settings I added Filmic pass and technicolor and customized each setting. I've finally got it looking how I want and I'm just gobsmacked at the results. It gives Far Cry 4 a run for it's money imo.
