Thanks!

Solid work, Nick. Looks good!

Thanks. Ditto, I'm really liking your preset, especially in those last four shots. Looks great!

I had to delete the HDP Watchdog preset, it was messing things up. After that I just fiddled around with the tonemap and filmic pass settings until it looked okay. Added curves too.

Thanks, and yeah, I did a similar thing. My preset looked completely different this morning (basically a more colourful version of the vanilla game) when compared to what I've been playing with the last few hours (basically AK's colours). I've stopped using almost every shader and now only use colormod, bloom, vignette and colour vignette. Turns out the colormod shader is incredibly flexible and even when used alone can drastically change the look of a game.

I haven't played around with colormod but I might experiment with it now that you mention it. It's amazing isn't it how one preset from another changes the mood and can make you feel like you're playing a completely different game.

Okay so these are my final settings cause my eyes are killing me from staring so hard trying to spot minute differences and I really need to sleep lol. I wanted to try and keep that Bloodborne look. I think the lighting and contrast has improved a little bit and I prefer his suit in this color.

Whoops. I interrupted the Batman thread :P

Carry on!

Hahahaha..I just saw this. Yeah sorry guys I guess AnyoneinCherno and I have hijacked this page. You'll have to excuse us, we're having too much fun with our presets. Come on we're giving you guys a break from Skyrim..:-P

Comparing your shots to AnyoneInCherno 's, it looks like your AF setting might be off (as in, not full 16x), you have more washed out textures than AnyoneInCherno does (or my eyes are fooling me ;)) This IMHO gives an uneven balance at places: some parts are extremely sharp (high contrast pixels) and other parts are almost blurry. AF and/or mipmap settings might help getting a more consistent picture (or I need glasses ;)). With consistent I mean: stuff that's closer to the camera should look sharp, and not blurrier than stuff far away from the camera, or stuff that's next to each other should have the same sharpness / crispness in textures. This can also be the game, some games really make a mess at times of this)

It is indeed quite interesting how much of a difference a tiny bit of post-processing can make!

Anyway, I think your preset is really good. It really does nail that Bloodborne vibe. Perhaps a teeny tiny bit more desaturation might make it look even more similar, but I think the game might lose too much of its character. A bit of chromatic aberration would help increase the similarities but that's a very subjectively good/bad shader.

My more personal suggestions would be to ease up on the contrast a bit and then increase the new black point in the levels shader to make it darker but a bit less chaotic to look at, and maybe increase saturation on the red channel a tiny bit to make it look slightly less washed out. Then again, it's up to you!

Now that you mention it, Nick's textures do look slightly blurry. At first I thought it might just be the placebo effect, but looking closely on the right side of the screenshot you quoted, the ground does look quite blurry.

Nick - are you using the in-game anisotropic filtering? If so, have you tried forcing AF x16 through your GPU's control panel? Forcing it globally always seems to yield the best results, with the sharpest textures and no perceptible performance hit.

Anyway-

Arkham City never has been a technically amazing game - its art style made up for that, but it still has a lot of disappointing tech problems, like low res textures (most evident in that previous shot) and low res baked shadows. Oh well!

It would be tempting to see how many people you could convince that some of those shots are from Arkham Knight. I bet you could get quite a few.

As always thanks guys, I really appreciate the observation and suggestions because it's still a learning process for me and I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I like to get it right. So anyway I went back to the scene of the crime and took some vanilla v's my preset so I'll post those shortly.

It's weird because these are taken with AFx16 forced through the Catalyst Control Center plus MSAAx4 in game on ultra settings. Unless my eyes are deceiving me this particular level with it's somewhat last-gen complex geometry is a mixed bag of low and high res textures, some in the foreground and some in the background, maybe for frame rate's sake for console versions that made it's way to the PC. So I think that could be part of the problem. Although there was definitely room for improvement so I went back to my settings and as you suggested AnyoneInCherno, I turned the contrast down and adjusted a few other things and I *think* it looks slightly better ? I may add a bit of red as you suggested but for now I'm not sure I can get it looking sharper than this to be honest. I've been staring at the same pics for days so it's all starting to look the same to me..:-s

Let me know what you guys think and thanks again for the suggestions.

Your action shots are fantastic btw and that's one nice looking preset I haven't seen before. How do you get so up close to the action?

No problem. Strange, it's probably just the low res textures then. BAC is plagued by them.

Regarding how I get so close - I just use an FoV bind. 5 on my keypad is the only button that seems to work, so I've bound it to an FoV of 75. It doesn't sound like it'd zoom in that much, but I've found that it seems to be the best balance between a small and large FoV in BAC. Alt 5 sets the FoV to 75, 5 sets it to 0, which resets it to the default value.

Thanks for the tip mate, I'll give that shot. I'm actually using an Xbone controller..old console habits die hard!

I don't blame you! I'd use one for BAC too but mine broke, so I'm stuck with a M/KB for now. Going to have to get a new controller before Arkham Knight comes out.

Rogue looks much better with your tweaks, Juanma. If those skyboxes were of a much higher res, they'd be jaw-dropping.
