When taking downsampled screenshots is using Paint to resize them ok? I'm in the motion of reinstalling Photoshop and Paint just seems really quick and easy to resize a .png in less than 5 seconds.

I don't think Paint will downsample as nicely as something else free like Paint.NET or IrfanView would. If you use one of those, make sure to select the best quality resize filter, however.

Does anyone know what the best equivalent filter is for how graphics cards and monitors actually do it? Downsampling and using Photoshop externally always feels like cheating to me since I kind of want exactly what the screen shows.

Durante may correct me on this but I recall bilinear being the widespread method of scaling images and that is also an option in photoshop to resize your image. With gedosato you can use adaptive Lanczos scaling which is higher quality, which is also an option in photoshop. ... don't quote me on that though ;)

Yep, bilinear is typically close to what displays will do. If you're using DSR though its something different from bilinear, I think its Nvidias own custom thing. I know they apply some sort of softening filter over it.

It's hard to say really what a display will do, those scalers could be anything. A GPU with "traditional" driver downplaying will usually do something a lot like bilinear. DSR is a more complex gaussian filter -- I don't know about VSR. GeDoSaTo has a variety of filters and allows you to capture the downsampled result.

I suggest using FastStone or PS. There isnt any resize filters in Paint and then you lose a lot of IQ in your shots.

Just getting started, and starting to get used to the camera tools (external tool). Had 3 CTDs before the first save in the game after the character creation so I got a little fed up with the whole process. I hope I'll get to correct some mistakes I made with the character creation later on.

It's a real bummer that the DoF effect changes with resolution. At 720 the DoF is WAY stronger than at 5120x2880.

I tried editing the blur value higher than 100 with cheat engine, but anything higher than 1.0 just sticks it to 100% with no effect applied.

Dunno what's up with the aliasing, didn't seem to be that bad while I was playing. Still a pretty game though.

If you're applying FXAA through drivers that won't get captures by screenshot tools.

Also I was thinking the brightness is what looked out of whack there. Seems overblown.
