I can not hate on this show. Awesome stuff and i love the Project Scorpio confirmation.

But where was Crackdown? Gamescom perhaps? Wasn't a beta planned for this summer?

that doesnt even make sense, as a pc gamer we should be happy since they are putting their first party titles up for us to play on our machines without having to buy a console and the lesser experiences attached to them.

??? Your post doesn't make sense. Of course I'm happy. Happy I don't have to borrow my brother's Xbone every time I want to play an Xbox exclusive game - I can just play it on my PC.

I'm not sure what to think of the conference. It was kind of meh. Not terrible, but nothing really special. There weren't even all that many megaton moments except for Project Scorpio at the end.

Plus, where was Battletoads? I'm slightly disappointed that Sea of Thieves was the only thing Rare had to show. Oh well.

There was no Age of Empires either. Some of these rumors simply didn't come true.

So, I'm going all in here, betting my right arm: Sony won't launch NEO this fall.
There is no fucking reason to do so. If they want to hurt MS just wait till fall 2017 and release NEO with equal specs.

Will cost them money because most likely they have already started securing manufacturing and going back to the drawing board will cost them.

This is really crazy but how about some new games that actually look great.
The only new announcement of a game at this conference was State of Decay 2 and FH3.

Thats it!
Where was the creativity the new IP no one saw coming. I might be old fashioned but I get excited over actual games nowadays.

wut? So those games with dates coming this year were not actual games?

If Sony stick to their word and not show or mention Neo due to having no games, they will be better in my eyes than MS

Pointless Scorpio reveal and slightly desperate. We've heard more officially about Scorpio now than the sodding NX

Are they making all their big games playable on PC ?

In that case it seems odd not to have console exclusives. But then a lot of consumers dont want to build a gaming rig and are happy with the convenience of having a "plug and play" console so perhaps not such a big deal.

For me the big deal is shorter lifecycle implied by Scorpio and Neo. I think that may push consumers away due platform choice confusion

yep, my coworkers are still under the assumption that PCs have worse graphics and arent for gaming. It's funny but hey it's their choice to avoid that. And now we can actually play together that's awesome.

Well I mean to be fair a lot of the games they showed were teased last year and this was the first time we saw actual gameplay, so to me it's like the "real" reveals were now

Microsoft said the Scorpio will be 4K.

The Nvdia GTX 1080 can run games at 4K but that cost £400/$550 approx. I know the Scorpio launch is in 18 months time but how can much will component prices drop for Microsoft to make a 4K machine at a mass market price?

Do you guys think Sony tops that conference?

I sincerely doubt it . Sony has to have a vr segment and that will slow things down a lot . Expect announcements of games hat won't be released till 2018. I fully expect gaf to think its the eight wonder of the world even if it's a lackluster conference .

So I wonder if Titanfall 2 is going over to PlayStation or it won't have any timed pieces at all since everything will be free for it.

More exclusives, more surprises, more truly AAA ambitious titles. Nothing shown today can touch the hype behind games like Halo 5 or Uncharted 4. It was a weak showing.

That, and I personally was really hoping for a Halo 5 / Master Chief Collection announcement for Windows 10.

Really disappointed overall with this conference.

You were expecting a uncharted 4 announcement for xbox?!?

Ignoring the leaks that super undermined any sense of mystery for the conference, I think it was still only OK. Microsoft's game announcements aren't going to be dragging anybody new in that was not already sold on the system.

Forza Horizon 3 will probably be great, but might just be the least surprising game announcement that could happen. Dead Rising 4 will probably be a step up over 3, but I be surprised if they changed the formula up considerably. State of Decay 2, now with multiplayer, will probably also be great, but it's the second (open-world) 3rd person zombie game announced in the conference. And those were the only 3 new games revealed (save Minecraft Realms, which is for a bit of a different audience) for the entire conference. The Scorpio will be cool, but that's in 18 months. How is Microsoft going to generate and maintain excitement for the next year?

The production was great (other than the camera-men being a bit overzealous in showing the in-building effects), and the pacing was incredible, but it just didn't feel like MS killed it in their reveals.

Yeah, that was desperation. They have officially killed Xbox One slim which they had just shown as well as future Xbox One sales as of now.

Solid conference overall. Sucks there weren't any big surprises but a lot of great games were shown, and I like the emphasis on cross-buy and cross-play.

Top 3 games were Scalebound, Recore, and We Happy Few.

8/10. Glad it was all about the games, but I feel like the stage was given the most screen time.

You think a megaton is being able to cross-buy a game on your PC and Xbox? Do you know how small the percentage of gamers that are actually going to use that is?

You think the announcement of a console that doesn't actually exist is a megaton?

Man its been really rough for Xbox Nation for this to be big news to you all.

A) Whats your problem mate? Xbox hurt you or something?

B) Yes, a new console being released and all exclusives coming to PC is a significant announcement

5 or 6 out of 10 for me.

We happy few was great, gears gameplay was great the acting was shit. FF15 looked terrible, scalebound suffered from script "hey big guy look, a weak spot", gwent was great, dead rising was awesome although the big thing that it was not exclusive was a hit to MS, everything else was meh.

So we are getting a new 5,8TF card for $199 this month and basically all the games running on Win 10 anyway. Why the excitement for a more expensive console 18 month away?

How the fuck was Scorpio and Play Anywhere not a megaton?

I don't expect any megotons from any company this year. Just a list of buy/no buy games coming this year. (and hopefully more VR content!)

But realisticly, with Play Anywhere, I have no need for a Scorpio... If you don't have a decent PC, Scorpio would be awesome, but then you don't have a need for Play Anywhere.

How much y'all wanna bet that Crackdown got assigned to be a Scorpio launch title?

It's far enough away to this likely being the case.

While the last footage shown of the game was nice, it was still incredibly rough and the destruction regulated to cloud use (thus online) may not have worked as they needed.

Edit: I'm not sure what megatons were expected to drop as there isn't much room in the industry to bring much unexpected. If it weren't for the leaks, Scorpio would have been the closest.

Not expecting much of a difference with Sony tonight. Resident Evil 7 (multi) and Resident Evil VR exclusive possibly, but that's been a long time coming that it's not megaton.

In terms of games, there were no big surprises. Scalebound looks pretty cool...Recore looked intereting...that was about it. They didn't really have any big third party demos aside from FFXV...which was interesting.

Scorpio would have been a surprise for those not avidly following this kind of thing. Otherwise, totally expected. Personally I think they need to price it competitively...It feels to soon for a next gen console, which is what it is. If Neo is weaker, they should price it where the current PS4 is.

Oh by the way

It would go in line with what Brad Sams was talking about, for sure

The heading is Amsterdam, maybe corresponds to the Xbone Slim Codename Edmonton? Ive got no idea what the Bob Dylan shit and extortion threats are, but also notice the filenames for different colours, templates for Electric Green, Midnight Blue, Ash Grey, Glacier Blue, Deep Pink, Regal Purple

Microsoft could be creating a custom controller service ala Moto Maker with the Xbone Slim, I dont know

I called itttt :D

From a PS4/ PC perspective, 7/10 ... Mostly because of Play Anywhere.

EverythingWasWindows10.gif

MS still doubling down on the shooter/ sports for the most part though, but We Happy Few and Recore looked very good. I fear for Rare (not that Sea of Thieves looked bad per se, but MMO pirate games might be a tough sell, it's been tried before).

6/10

Pretty bland conference. In a few years it will be wholly forgotten as a by the book effort.
Would like to see even more new I.P. It's hard for me to feel any excitement for Xbox's vision (as a games platform) when they're largely just pedalling out the same tired old franchises.

But they're not. They didn't announce much new this time, but half the games, at least, coming out as big tentpole games are brand new IPs ffs.

Typical (Gears, Forza, Halo) with re-announcement of Recore, Sea of thieves (looked average) and scalebound (meh)

No surprises at all, so I thought it was weak.

Overall I liked the conference, but it was conservative... Which is fine. Lots of gameplay shown, and some pretty cool trailers.

Forza Horizon 3, We Happy Few, Halo Wars were some awesome trailers, though I don't care much for Halo Wars.

Scorpio segment was really cool, play anywhere is a solid plus, and the new Xbox One S looks great.
