If that's the case then it's fine on Chip's part. I've just seen him do stuff like that with personnel that didn't make sense. Like insisting on having Murray run when he was doing nothing and Mathews was last season.

More details about Colin Kaepernick's contract restructure emerge:

On one hand, it would behoove Kaepernick to take this deal if he wants to get back on the field to improve his value to other teams if he’s able to become a free agent in the spring. The 49ers shouldn’t pay Kaepernick next season if they don’t view him as a long-term option as the starting quarterback.

On the other, it doesn’t reflect well on San Francisco that it would need Kaepernick to agree to a new deal just to play. If he was deemed unplayable on his current contract, the 49ers should have released him before it got to this point. The team is bound to Kaepernick’s contract just as much as Kaepernick is.

It has also been all over the radio in Vegas since they are always talking about the 9ers out here.
