Doobie, Whitney, NIN, Depeche Mode are all excellent choices. I honestly don't know what Biggy Smalls or T-Rex have contributed. I'm still surprised Mariah Carey still hasn't been inducted.
T. Rex basically invented Glam Rock. As such, they really should have been in the inaugural class. But then it's not a Rock Hall of Fame it's popular music hall of fame.
It's sad that bands like Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pantera, Iron Maiden, Boston, etc haven't been recognized in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. At least The Cure has been inducted. That's a great pick.
No disrespect to BIG, but the rock hall of fame has lost all meaning since pop and hip hop artists started being nominated.
There is plenty of good rock in the world to continue making these nominations stick to the genre, but the organization behind it would rather just stay relevant.
Shit, I can’t believe T-Rex just made it in.
You'll see your problems multiplied
If you continually decide
To faithfully pursue
The policy of truth
Depeche Mode did a lot of things really well, but it's so hypnotizing how they accelerate or slow the vocal delivery to deliver a punch. This part is haunting, with everything before "the policy of truth" being slowed down to a crawl and then the music picks up gradually to blow up completely when it's back to the chorus. Really great band.
